jaymz
I just painted my mk2 escort with a metallic blue (acrylic laquer) It cam up pretty blotchy at first then buy the next coat it came even. then I Clear coated it and it came up blotchy again. I had to take it out of the shed because i needed the shed so it is only half done. I Think i'll proberlly paint it again with a couple more coats of color. It's not very shinny Either. I have heard that you have to cut and polish laquer to get it to shine. any thought's on this? ps is anyone going to the hotrod show this weekend
Burntrubber
You will have to polish the clear give it a few weeks though. Also if you painted it in your own shed theres probably a bit of overspray in the clear which will make it bit harder to get even. Mine was the same when my mate painted it for me but looks ok after a polish.
esky boi
Yea same sorta thing happened to mine, abit of a cut n polish should bring it up nicely. Or else you could give it a real light sand and then another coat of clear, just depends how bad it is though I guess..
jaymz
yea theres a bit of over spray, What cut and polish did you use? I has hopeing to get it done by the hotrod show just cause it gave a good time to work to but it looks like that's not happening anymore. corrupt
depending on hwo bad it is depends on what you use, i use this "mr buff" shit from supercheap which cuts it mean after ive painted it, then after that i use a normal superfine cream polish/wax. turns out mint for home jobs, just gotta eb careful to not cut all the paint off, could almost see primer in some places on my old tina . Guest Scheme
acrylic lacquer will always be a bit blotchy after clear is added, you should sand the final clear coat with 1200 grit wet/dry sandpaper lightly with a soft pad to get it flat. good trick is to run ur finger thru the water where uve just sanded to see if is flat or still a bit blotchy, the blotches will be very small but noticable. after the final sand, buy some descent compound from a spray store.
