kyteler
Generally the terms Short and Long block aren't referring to the actual physical size of the block, more the amount of ancillaries etc it has. A short block is generally the block itself, crankshaft, pistons, rods etc. but not the head and a long block includes the head and depending who is selling it, the intake/exh alternator, blah blah as well
Guest seriour
cheers thats kinda what i thought. so this short chain drive block should be able to bolt to my cross member and use my old engine mounts etc etc??
kyteler
I'm not 100% cause i'm not big on Mitsi's but one would think that it would be a matter of bolting the chain drive cam procket onto instead of the belt drive sprocket and wallah (caution: wallah does not include timing which would possibly be thrown entirely out of whack)
CaMpylobacter
I'm not 100% cause i'm not big on Mitsi's but one would think that it would be a matter of bolting the chain drive cam procket onto instead of the belt drive sprocket and wallah (caution: wallah does not include timing which would possibly be thrown entirely out of whack) that wouldnt work. timing chains need lubrication...... I think what he's wanting to do is put a complete chain drive 4g32 in place of a belt drive 4g32. i'm not big on mitsis either but i would imagine they'd almost abe a bolt in, althogh there's always something top trip you up. fuel = resident mitsi encyclopedia, he'll know. although i'd stick with the belt drive on if possible. more likely than not it's a newwer generation than the chain drive. or stick a belt 4g63 in there like alot of guys on here have done
Guest redseven
As far as I know there the same, ie should bolt in no probs i think the heads slightly different to allow for belt/chain. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 978920.htm see how the chain runs through the head? im sure the belt runs outside the head like a sohc 4g63. Speedyrr
I've got a number of old 72-73 16L colts, my original has a chain 4g32, the another has had the beltdrive 4g32 dropped in later and bolt straight up. A couple of my 1850's colt have had the same transplant, 4g51 chain drive taken out and a 4g32 belt drive put in instead, straight bolt up. All of these are rwd, and most of the colt stuff was interchangable as is a lot of the mitsi stuff.
