rednfast
Hiyas, Been having problems winding up and down the windows so I pulled apart the doors to have a look and found that the teeth on the winder unit inside the door are all worn. Basically when I wind the window up or down it just makes a clunking noise and nothing moves. Just wondering what the best way to fix this is? Can you get replacements or reconditioned units or do you just have to get a 2nd hand replacement? Thanks
Guest escort_boy
just get one off another escort i would say... some one mite no better ways of doing it
esky boi
Yea man, what escort_boy said.. grab one of another Escort, just undo the four screws and it'll come straight out. They're actually abit of a bitch to get out of the doorframe, you'll see what I mean, nothing abit of extra force cant fix...
Guest 1600_ghia
what you can do is get a welder nd weld lumps of metal where tha old teeth were an file them to tha rite shape but this is a hassle and takes time the best thing to do would be to get another window regulator

rednfast
I ended up just buying a whole other escort for parts, got some mint winder mechs out of it. And the problem is that the old ones get the sides sheared off so moving them closer wouldnt help
