SYKOV6
im not 100% sure but i dont think they made a twin spark sr20 more than likly its a ca18 twin spark out of an 80s silvia they still go well and are reliable, normal mods work the same as any other turbo motor i dont think they made the 8 plug version for very long as the performance is very similar to the regular 4 plug ca18 i stand corrected if any of this info is wrong but i hope it helps dave
WildPlumDx
hmm interesting coz its got a turbo on it and has 8 spark plug leads and told its the sr20det so maybe it is rare! i dunno anything about them engines... thanks for the info anyways! need more tho hmmmmm...... MAD626
I always thought the twin plug was the ca engine. A mate has ca20 in his S12 silvia circuit car. I think ca engines had cast iron block and sr had alloy block.
WildPlumDx
also it not the blue top as such as the blue cam cover its got blue written where it says EGI or EFG or something on the fuel injection if that helps! and i wish it was a V8! SYKOV6
pretty safe to say its probably a ca18/20 twin spark check to see if it has a iron block/alloy head its most likely out of a s12 silvia still cheap at $500 if its all sweet
WildPlumDx
yeah its got the alloy head! not painted or nothing

RT
Look at the inlet manifold, a 'high mounted' plenum and a stepped down rocker cover then it's from a S14 Silvia. If the plenum is low slung and the rocker if relatively flat on top then it's from S13 180SX. The power difference are 162KW (217hp) at 6000rpm with a T25G or a T28 turbo on the S14 and 151kw (220hp) at 6000rpm with a T25G turbo on the S13. However, I've never seen a blue top engine..from what I've read its from the Nismo 270R S14 Silvia and is rare. Only a few hundred were made apparently. Anyway it's different from the regular S14 engine because it was tuned by Nismo to make 270 hp. It's quite possible that the cover was painted blue? anyway hope this helps somewhat
RT
oh apparently the bluetop was used in the front wheel drive Bluebird and Pulsar etc...which would indicate that it's not rare afterall...hmmm appears to be some debate on that issue have you tried the Nissan webboards?? Burntrubber
Blue top is from s14 silvia and has the high mount plenum and varyable valve jizz. My mate has a s13 200sx and he put one in goes real hard.
SYKOV6
so is it an SR or CA designated engine in an s14?
Burntrubber
SR20. The best way to tell the CA is belt driven so it has a red rocker cover and a black belt cover and the SR is chain so it has a sold rocker cover that is one colour. SYKOV6
so was there a 8 plug version of the sr20det? if so they must b rare as i asked a friend who has worked in the engine importing business for 10 years and hes never seen or heard of one. thats not saying they dont exist as he sez the japs do lots of wierd and wonderful things as experiments on the unsuspecting public to see if it would work or not
