  1. Sounds like a Vauxhall 16v XE maybe?.. Pinto conversion do able in 7 weeks. Zetec/Duratec would be tough but at least still a Ford (sort of) Good luck.
  2. Can't decide whether to put the Sport Stripe Kit on or not - what do you guys reckon? Kinda makes sense when you look at the plate.
  3. Thanks mate. Hoping to do a classic meet at Hamption Downs in November so still got a busy couple of months ahead.
  4. Finally found some decent UK cast TCA's. Taiwanese knock offs (left) are so bad, you can't fit a sway bar nolathane bush as the casting hole is offset POR Caliper paint is good stuff. Mintex 1166 pads to fit. Competition linings from Autostop - not sure how good these are going to be. All new cylinders and mounting hardware Group 4 steering coupling
  5. Thanks Shane. Yeah starting too see some progress now. Gearbox was a joint effort between Subway Automotive in Pukekohe and a local fabricator. I had some extra work done on the gearbox but all up the mod would have been around $300. Hoping to get the LSD and brakes all finished this weekend so no, wont make the hillclimb - next year!
  6. Thought about it but no, a mate did it for me.
  7. A bit more progress.. Decambered with extra leaf. And one of these with a 4.44 diff I'm rebuilding at the moment New manifold so I can retain the brake booster Front suspension still ongoing. OEM TCA's are shit!... Gearbox rebuilt and mod completed
  8. Happened to a mate of mine. Was unconscious after a crash, damaged fuel lines and fuel spewing everywhere. Seems like a pretty good reason to me.
  9. I've interocked the fuel pump via a relay driven from the oil pressure switch. Don't like the idea that if I'm upside down somewhere and the fuel pump is still pushing fuel into the carbs. You will also need to wire in a defeat circuit for startup.
  10. Thought you might say that... Wish I could but the escorts to do list is still quite long. Might come down for a look though. Isn't there a law about how many escorts you're allowed to own?.
  11. A bit more done. Rear will be another 25mm lower Just need paint to finish front suspension/brakes
  12. Those JBW RS mags look sharp!.. Let us know how the header paint works out. What did you use? VHT?
  13. Great report M_C. Gotta luv sorting out the gremlins That's a reasonable lap time!.. What sort of times before the meltdown?. Good luck getting it back together.
  14. Well, how was it?. Everybody get their cars home in one piece?
  15. Might call in after work and catch up with a few of you guys. Really depressing being a spectator thou!..
  16. Shock absorbers don't control the ride height - thats determnined solely by the springs and yours are probably a bit tired!.. Get them reset or replaced to the correct height. But while you're at it, you should probably replace the shocks and bushes as well - depends how deep your pockets are. Koni do a good range of standard and performance shocks.
  17. Other options are: 1) Lower the brake booster by about 50mm or 2) Buy a 1300 manifold from Palmside as this allows the carbs to sit above the booster - still close though. Both options probably wont allow an air filter but individual socks work
  18. What supports the brake rod at the master cylinder end if you do this? Thanks
  19. Haha 4.4 for me. Got one lined up but don't want to fit it until I sort a LSD
  20. Brought it second hand from a guy in hamilton, Spent a fair bit of time tidying it up and sorting a few issues - goes ok but will be building another engine shortly with a bit more hp. Would love to be at Hampton with you guys but unfortunately still missing a diff, brake lines, linkages, fuel pump.....sigh.
  21. Just got to remove the front seats and bolt it in - shouldn't take too long. Will be out for cert and WOF's, back in for skids.
  22. A bit more progress.. Decided to go the type 9 route after all. Engine nearly sorted
