They go pretty well for the monies. Chassis doesn't hold a candle to a 106 or 205 gti tho. Still, good fun for minimal moolah.

Be a 159 with that level of heft. I love them but they definitely did pack on the pounds. After test driving a 2.4deez one a while back, they definitely feel more solid. But the 156 is a few hundreds kegs lighter and it's pretty noticeable. They're a lot more nimble.
Yeah wouldn't touch a sillyspeed EVER.

This got listed today. It's a little steep even at 6k with no indication of reserve. But also there's a good chance being a 2010 that it's got the 170hp version of my engine. It's also done very little ks so price is probably justified to a point. Facelift 147s are so much nicer than the prefacelift ones.

hooo boy, I also browse these cos they look cool and are bargain priced, so it's interesting to hear you got some reliability out of one. 147 and 156 have the same running gear?
I mean it's Italian so it's always gonna have it's electrical niggles (alarm has a mind of its own, as do the heater controls at times) but as far as starting and running everytime it's been great. Also might add it's got 270k on the clock haha. So she's up there for an alfa.
Essentially yeah. The twin sparks and jts engines love to drink oil. The busso v6s are lush but are maintenance heavy. But yeah the JTD diesels are fucking awesome units.

Also, just cause I've been punting it around more lately and it flew through another wof today. An honorable mention to the 156. Admittedly I got this very cheap. But I've seen a few of these and the 147s in the same spec pop up for 3-5k
The 1.9JTDM 16v engine is a peach. 150hp and 6 speed manual is really good to drive. Really punchy. Yet can return 5-5.5L/100k if driven nice. Really comfy, all the mod cons you want with none you don't need. Handsome as fuck. Handles fantastic. And even with 270k on the clock it's been super reliable for the last year and a half I've had it. Trying to think of something that ticks as many boxes as this does for less than 3k and I can't haha.

If you do get a surf, make sure to remove the rear bumper (but keep the towbar on) and get a big "mudslut" window banner. Buy a lifetime subscription of energy drinks. And stick some 35s on 15x10 -44 rims so your toothpick axles can hate you.
Youll be the sickest cunt out (according to you and only you)

Depending on the budget you'd damn near get a petrol gen3 paj. By the sounds you aren't doing much off roading? Gen3 are significantly nicer trucks on the road than a gen2 and would tow better. Steer clear of the early 4m41s with the zexel fuel pump though unless the pump has been done.

Also in saying that it's driver dependent too haha. 1:12.659 on that race.
Chuck Tsuchiya in it like below and it does a 1:11.119 haha

I watched this a couple Of weeks ago, aforementioned colt goes against other cars in its class round Tsukuba
Yeah they need a remap as they're not suuuuper quick in factory form. Those RS197 clios are rapid. Took one for a test drive a couple years ago.

Sweeeeeeeeeeet! Yussss! Looking forward to it. I've not been through there in yonks. Even when it had gravel it was still a choice road.
Yeah it's not huuuuugely scenic but it's good for nangs.

Is it now sealed all the way through?
Sure is! Repairs are patchy in spots but it's still a super fun road to drive

Thought of this thread the other day when I was coming back from a job in kaikoura. Took the inland road because slow tourists/trucks fucked me off on the way up. Also now with the hundalees being a pathetic 60kmh limit. Fuck it is so dead now all the post quake repairs have been done and errbody goes the coast way.
11/10 would recommend especially now, I would've passed one car, and maybe 4 coming the other way between the turnoff near kaikoura and waiau. Gr9 windy bits. Although a 3.2t ranger with toolboxes etc isn't the most nimble through there I gave it my best.
/this thread needed an almost 9 year dredge anyway.

Shame it isn't one that has the Recaro seats from the Evo like this one (though at more than twice the price)
Yeah really couldn't justify spending another $7500 just for some seats, as lush as they are haha.
