Well it was an awesome day. Think we had about 12 cars all up (at the BK carpark anyway). 1x R34 Skyline 25 GT coupe (red) 1x R34 Skyline GT sedan (silver) 2x R33 Skyline GTS-25t coupes (purple and light blue) 1x R32 Skyline GTS-t coupe (light gunmetal) 1x R33 Skyline GTS-t sedan (black) 2x R32 Skyline GTS coupes (maroon and gunmetal) 1x 200ZX coupe (orange) 1x Toyota Supra (Mk.III) (red) 1x Toyota Celica GT-Four (?) (black) 1x Subaru Impreza WRX (silver) After the photo shoot out near Teretonga we went to the go-karts, which was absolutely awesome. Totally annihilates the Dunedin track in terms of size, speed and fun. DEFINITELY going back, and the guy running it was actually a nice guy too, and didn't always seem grumpy like other places. Hey all. Southern Skyline Enthusiasts members are converging on Invercargill on Sunday December the 9th, and it'd be great to have some classics (or anything really) come along too. We've had a number of successful multi club meets with ClubSub, NZHondas and ToySpeed before, but this is the first time i've invited Old School (don't know why i haven't in the past to be honest). For those that don't know much about the club, we are NOT flat peaker boy racer hoons who you normally see on the news acting like complete dropkicks. There could be a number of people over 30 (and maybe a couple over 50) heading down and none of them fit that stereotype. Those that do fit it come along to a meet, probably get bored since we don't do skids etc and we never see them again! We won't tolerate anyone doing skids or anything though, as it's obviously not a good look - so those that do so will be asked to leave (i've only had to warn people about it a couple of times before, but they never came back to another meet after that, wonder why... ). But yeah, hopefully some of you can make it along, there will be a few non Nissans there (a MK.III Supra and Celica from ToySPeed may be coming along) so just bring what you've got. I envy your car collection Michael. And yes, you could have spent that money working on the C110 or S21, but then you wouldn't have this.

Would be good to see this fixed up instead of taken to the scrapyard like (seemingly) most other R30/R31s.

No meets as yet, but it's usually quieter in Winter. Domain name still hasn't finished processing though, grr.

Saw two of the night stages, was pretty good. Wanted to go see the tarmac stage today but ended up working too late.

Would you want any of the Southern Skylines Lads and Ladettes to come along too? A few of them have been wanting to do a dyno day up there for a while now. When we had one in Dunedin it was only $40 though, can they not be talked down in price up there?

Cheers guys. I think i tried choosing a route that was a decent length and that went through areas where enough spectators could gather (main streets etc). But of course the last two years have been raining so haven't had many spectators each time, and the council keep adding traffic lights everywhere too. May be open to changing the route for 2012 if it means the convoy wouldn't get broken up as much. Anywho; pouring with rain most of the day, but we still got 75+ cars and raised about $1,000. Just a reminder about the event! Its not this coming Sunday, but the one after - please spread the word if you haven't already! Dougal Stevenson will be there judging the cars. The Rock will be MC'ing the day. Flick the Fire Engine will be there for the kids. Green Island Lions Club's food caravan will be there (normally seen at Beachlands Speedway). There will be a coffee car there. And so on and so forth. If you can't make it but still want to donate, i've added the bank account details in the first post (only $30 in there at the time of this post). This isn't some 'tiny' event either, our sponsors have donated a lot of money (The Rock are giving us $12,000 of free advertising alone).

And i agree with Michael about local hospice's being more relevant, i only have ties to the Dunedin one because thats where Mum was for the last few days of her life. However, if you have no ties to any hospice then it is entierly up to you as to which one you support - if any at all. felixx, i likely won't use my personal bank account for donations, i'll go around the banks when i get time next and see which one suits best to start up a charity account. I set up a bank account last year but no-one put any money into it (other than me with the $2,200+ takings), and i had to pay for the bank fees/cheque etc out of my own money. :/ If theres enough demand this year i'll set up the account again for sure. Were you talking to felixx, danger?

I never went last year, but was racing in it the year before. I was in the red Skyline that got wasted by the APET 800hp+ R32 GT-R. The one the had been finished for a second by the time i got to the halfway mark. Nearly had him...

ABOUT/PAST EVENTS I came up with the idea for this event after my mother passed away from cancer while in the Hospice in 2008. So the aim of the event is primarily to raise as much money for the Otago Community Hospice as possible, to say thanks. http://www.otagohospice.co.nz/funding.html In 2010's event, we managed to raise $2,235.50 for the hospice, with just 155 cars (official count - actual number possibly higher) on a rainy day, and with the event ending three hours early! Lets try beat that this year, with lots of sunshine this time! HOW WE RAISE THE MONEY By charging each driver and each passenger a minimum 'donation' of $5 (higher amounts are encouraged if you can afford it) to enter the cruise. And gold coin donation for members of the public at the opening of the car show at 1pm. DATE, AND NEED TO KNOW DETAILS - Sunday, 20th November 2011 - Meet up at Tahuna Park, Victoria Rd (Dunedin) from 9:00am to 10:00am. Please try to be there by 10:30am at the latest. - Depart for cruise at 11:00am after a possible briefing. NO later than 11:10am. - Gates will shut just before the cruise leaves, and will reopen when we get back. Cars which do not have a sticker on them after the cruise will have to pay to get onto the field. - Arrive back before 1pm for food/car show etc. - Five trophies will be available to hand out for cars on display after the cruise, best Japanese, American, European, Australian and British cars. ELIGABLE CARS All exotic cars (Ferrari, Aston Martin, Porsche, Lamborghini, Maserati, Lotus, TVR, Mercedes and so on). All muscle cars (FPV/Tickford and HSV/HDT etc cars, Corvettes, Camaro's, Mustangs and of course every other grunty V8). Classic cars (Shelby's, Jaguars, Mini's, Rover's, Triumphs and so on). Japanese 'old school' classics (Pre R30 Skylines, Prince models, DX Corollas, AE86's, RX3's and so on). Vintage cars (Model T Ford, Daimlers and so on). Race cars/track cars (if not road legal then tow them on the cruise on the trailer!). If your car doesn't fall into any of those categories, does it have any aftermarket modifications (bigger wheels, bodykit, fancy paintwork, rare factory bodykit and so on)? If thats a yes, you can bring it along too - even if it is a 4WD/people carrier (so long as they aren't standard looking!). This is also the perfect opportunity to get those prized treasures out of the garage, the ones that very seldom get seen by the public eye. You'll possibly have a slightly bigger chance to win a trophy and prize pack for doing so! ENTER YOUR CAR CLUB This event is a great chance for recruiting new members! Hey all. Decided a while back that Southern Skylines should try our hand at a dyno day, since Skylines Downunder hold a lot of successful ones. Theres a bit of interest on the Facebook page so far, so will possibly be a case of first in first served on the night! DATE: Friday, 12th August 2011 TIME: 6:00pm till 10:30pm or later LOCATION: APET, 86 MacAndrew Rd, Dunedin (turn south from King Edward Street at the intersection where United Video is, and the shop is just after the first street on the right) COST: $40 for Southern Skylines members, $50 everyone else (normally $80) OTHER DETAILS: - Nik and the boys are likely bringing the jet engine out for a wee blast (old video).
