  1. Mega thanks to Amy and Karl. Cripes that Rod Millen is a likable dude. I feel real privileged to have been there. Also loved meeting a few more OS boes. What a great bunch of chaps. Next time I'll make sure I'm not uber hungover so am a bit more punctual ha ha. Thanks for waiting up for me though, that was very nice of everyone. Edit: Richy your photos are wicked as usual.
  2. Sussed the bonnet latch and radiator fan last night. I haven't managed to do the other shit yet. I better get the windscreen watertight cos it looks like rain for the trip to Hahei. I think I'll just chuck a floor-mat over the tunnel for now to keep the exhaust out. I tried to take it for an actual burn last night, the ECU was switching to failsafe mode if I try to thrash it, I'd get into the top of second gear before it'd conk out. Then I'd have to switch the car off for a minute or so. I didn't get to check the codes but I suspect a bad earth or bad connection to the throttle body. Hopefully get it sorted on Saturday. Woo hoo!
  3. Thanks guys, the build probably looks a lot better in the photos than real life. She's a bit rough really, just like your mum.
  4. Awww shucks, thanks guys. It sounds pretty good, but I've not fanged it yet. And the idle it quite high....... I'm still undecided on it to be honest. It's super smooth. and no rasping.... I really should go and listen to it more! haha
  5. YAY! Pumped. Don't expect perfection thou, there's a few rangi bits I had to do to get it ready on time. I'm sure there'll be a few weeks of going back over those. I'm happy with all the big stuff thou. Just shit like the many plugged coolant lines, the taped up loops of wiring which needs to be shortened, and bonnet latch senario will be a total bodge I'm sure!
  6. Yeah it all went pretty sweet. Spinning wheel senario doesn't seem to have been anything. I'm putting it down to sheer forces. Selecting first is hard, I suspect the angles might be a little off with my shifter relocation bracket? Hmmm I too am very much looking forward to giving it a proper drive. Stoked it looks like I'll be there!
  7. TTT did a choice job on the exhaust, stoked I got them to do it instead of trying to do it myself. It's tucked up there good and proper, no knocks. So last night I very gingerly drove it home, took all the back streets and scraped on about 8 speed bumps, probably should've just taken main streets. ha ha I got fully beached on the gearbox coming into the garage, so yeah, I really need to jack it up a bit. It is mega low at the moment, the sump is about 2 inches off the ground. I fixed all the guard clearance issues and got the airdam back on. And drove it to work today. Took it pretty slow, probably didn't get past 3000 rpm, hill starts are very slippery. Can't honestly say how fast it might be yet. I still need to sort the bonnet latch - currently there's some weedeater cord tied to the bonnet and threaded through the firewall. I just wrap it around the passenger seat to lock it in place. Hook up radiator fan - seems to do a bloody good job without it thou. Sort out shifter boot - exhaust gasses aint fun. dejack. Silicon around the windscreen. Gearknob.
  8. TTT probably could've got my spacers sorted. They're hopefully gonna rejiggle some shit around to give me a bit more clearance, if they don't get time I'll do it myself tonight. But I've asked them to do it if they can fit it in, the less I do the better given timeframes! And if they do it it'll be a little less dodgy driving it home tonight; it's missing airdam (with indicators) and front bumper and shit right now for clearance, so obviously better to have that on before I hit the road!
  9. So you're all good for Hahei then!?!
  10. Dropped the car off for more exhaust this morning. Which means I got to drive it around a car park a little bit. The clutch is very snappy, I did wee skids off the trailer. ha ha. I had to take the airdam/bumper off because of clearance issues caused by the wheel spacers, I can see this all becoming quite a pain in the nutsack. I might see if I can make it TTT's problem, time is running short and my engineer's a fag.
  11. Last night I put the radiator in. I got the outlets moved and a fan put in by Auto Radiators on Nixon St, can't recommend them highly enough they did a great job. I was gonna use a new aluminum one but really happy with this; suits the car better. The spacers are turning out to be a massive pain in the arse. A miscommunication ment they put a locator ring around the original one without taking out the id to fit over my hub. I did explain this was required but it was lost in translation. I'm trailering the car to TTT first thing tomorrow morning to get the exhaust made so the spacers have to be finished today. I also fixed my brakes after swapping the calipers around so the bleed nipples were at the top. And wired up the alternator.

    No brakes

I've got all the shiz too, just being lazy. ha ha

    No brakes

I only just realised this. Spaz. Will have to swap 'em over tonight.

    No brakes

I might just use your trick cletus so I don't have to make new lines just yet.
  15. mikey

    No brakes

Yeah makes sense. Looks like joker got it on one! Thanks guys, you're the best!

    No brakes

The bleed nipples are at the bottom if I follow you correctly. I'm guessing that's wrong? What with gravity and that.

I've put Nissan R32 calipers on my car in place of some toyota 4 pots that were there before. And I've bled them a couple of times, there's no air coming though but the pedal goes right to the floor. If I pump the pedal a few times it firms up a bit. And if I pinch off the soft-lines at the calipers the pedal is rock solid. I've kept the 15/16ths master that was there before. So what's the issue? My neighbour mentioned I might need a residual pressure valve but from what I can make out they're only used in drum brakes or to stop syphoning when the master is below the slave. Thanks for any advice.
  18. Thanks guys. I'm jolly happy it runs! I wish I didn't have to put an exhaust on it, it sounds vicious. The microphone on the phone couldn't really handle the awesomeness.
  19. I've hooked up a few more bits and pieces and the new airdam, I'll paint it to match the car when I have more time. Oh, and it bloody runs! STM popped round and reflashed the ECU and we're all go. It sounds brilliant with just the headers. So this is what's left to do this week: Get exhaust made - check with TTT when the can fit it in Fit radiator - It's at the radiator shop at the moment. Fix front brakes Put front bumper and indicators on Get wheel spacers to clear brakes - At machine shop, hopefully pick up tomorrow Fix Leak in fuel filler neck I suspect the front brakes need a residual pressure valve. There doesn't seem to be any air in there, and if I pinch off the softlines the pedal is hard.
  20. Got a fair bit done today, picked up the new driveshaft and put it in along with the axles. Reinforced the floor above the trans mounts. Put the guards back on. replaced a bit of rusty steel on one of them. I also managed o read the DTC's from the ECU, it is throwing NATS errors which is good because it explains why it's not starting AND STM are coming around tomorrow to reflash it and turn NATS off YAY!
  21. Not much to show for last nights efforts. I fitted the oil pressure sensor and bodged together a MAF housing: Edit: FRKN PAGE THREE!
  22. Have I mentioned how much I frking love this car?! Can't wait to see it in hahei.
  23. Yeah I got a K&N a little while ago at your suggestion. I might even hook it up tonight! With the brakes there's about 2mm of air-grasping, which apparently a lot of people run brakes like that. But yeah, that's why I'll move them in a couple of mm at some point. I spoke to the guys who I want to do the exhaust yesterday. They're pretty busy but if things go well this week for them, and me, they might have a day free to do it next week. Which'd be perfect. So will talk to them on Monday. Otherwise I'll get a muffler shop to do it. It'll be a new exhaust from the headers back. Mr Clipboard, does indeed need to give it the all clear, however that's not gonna stop me taking it on the road. Because meh AND my Subaru's cam belt snapped on Friday which is about as gay as it gets. I own 3 cars and a scooter and only one car runs....
  24. The ID of the spacer is 66mm so I need to take that out to 73mm which is the widest part of the hub. Then the wheel's ID is 73.5mm so I'll need the locator ring to go from 73 to 73.5mm Should be doable because the part of the hub that sticks through is tapered. Mag wheel shop is probably a good option, I just wasn't sure if they do their own machining or if they send them off.
