  1. I guess I shall plod along, you know, cos I don't make these meets very often...
  2. So much inspiration, and I must say they look less complicated in person than they did in my head. Bloody good job Jeff!
  3. Love it dude, getting behind this 100%. Maybe there'll be a teardrop nats one year if there's a few together.
  4. Good fun! Was my first motorway drive with the new carb all set up, so much nicer to drive! Love how dedicated OSers are in spite of shite weather.
  5. Yeah idle jet is a 45 so I'm gonna try disconnecting the vacuum advance. Won't test drive tonight cos the weather is rotten but will do a test when it clears. If it still doesn't come right I'll reinstall or solder and drill the jets just in case someone has drilled them out.
  6. Dude I was googling for a whole night trying to find info as detailed as that! First up I'll check idle jets, then I'll check the advance (given that only really works at light loads it's something that's now playing heavily on my mind). Will report back and go from there. I'll also document as much of this as I can for future reference cos there's been a few carb discussions in the past with no real conclusions.
  7. The more you know! Sweet that's gonna give me a couple of decent leads to investigate tonight. Cheers man!
  8. I didn't check to see what the idle jet was (idles really nice so hadn't looked). Will check that tonight anyway, along with the vacuum advance. Still on a learning curve with the weber carbs and what affects what.
  9. I don't think so, but hadn't considered that. These issues only came about when I put the new weber on. I'll try disconnecting the vacuum advance just in case. Chur!
  10. The thing I'm thinking at the moment is that the jets may possibly have been drilled out. I didn't check the size of the idle jet but it idles beautifully. The issue starts to come about at light throttle. Once I open the taps right up (and the second throttle opens) it's fine. I thought monthly meet was next week? I'm going to grab another carb I had back off chris cos that has a slightly bigger main jet than what I have in there at 125, though I'm pretty sure it hasn't been touched, so if the problem is worse I know it's too rich, if it's better then I can work my way up some jet sizes. So I'll try that jet and let you know, could be keen to play swapsies if that's okay, cheers for the offer!
  11. Nah haven't checked the plugs, I might borrow a mate's wideband to see where the mixtures are at exactly. I guess the jets could have been drilled at some point. The choke butterflies have been removed so can't use that as a reference unfortunately. And yeah that filter might help a little, fingers crossed anyway!
  12. So I'm a bit stuck here, I have a 32dgv weber on my 1300 kent, higher revs are great, but down low, she's a shocker and I can't seem to get it to run right. Mixture screw can't be turned out more than 1/4 turn before it starts to run rough and then stall out. Jets are: F50 emulsion tubes Air: 160/120 Fuel: 120/115 Venutri 3.5/4.5 Those are all main/secondary order. I thought those were the jets for the stock 1300gt so I'm not sure why it's not running right. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I've given the carb a good clean out and nothing has changed.
  13. Was a lovely day's cruise, smallish turnout but mint weather and a nice drive. Any reason they wouldn't let you in? Shall have to organise something again some time, maybe different location/destination just to shake things up.
  14. This! Also we'll have to go a different way that isn't lonely track cos it's being resealed at the moment and is all horrible gravel. There's a nice alternative a few kms north that links east coast to SH17 that's rarely busy.
  15. Mean, cheers jono. Yup weather is looking ace so its all go for tomorrow.
  16. Okay confirmed details (will update in first post). Meeting at Long Bay at 11am. Bring a picnic of some sort if you like, or just snacks or whatever. Hang out and talk smack for an hour or two, then cruise to Riverhead Tavern at around 1 for some afternoon tea/late lunch/beersies. From there we can go for another cruise later on if people are keen.
  17. Sorry bro, Escort quota has been reached, you'll have to turn up in another car... Would be sweet to see another Escort! Maybe this time we can get them all together for a group shot.
  18. Yeah bro that could be a sweet afternoon destination.
  19. Okay then, how about we meet at long bay at 11am, bring some sandwiches or whatever, can hang for a couple of hours then go for a cruise to mission bay or kumeu or something. Sound good?
  20. Was thinking if the weather is good next week we could have a bit of a picnic lunch or some such thing. Long bay is a nice spot, or we could go all out and meet somewhere central then cruise to a spot. Anybody got some ideas? DETAILS: Meet at Long Bay at 11am - bring food/snacks if you like Hang out and talk smack for a while Cruise to Riverhead Tavern at 1pm for some afternoon tea/late lunch/beersies From there we can go for a cruise later on if people are keen
  21. So some things have happened again. I installed a roofrack, some pin stripes, and this weekend just gone I finally installed the 32dgv carb I had in there. Was expecting it to be a real PITA to get it running right cos the guy I bought it from reckoned it didn't run on his 1300 but with a tweak of the main jet mixtures I've got it running pretty well. Slight hesitation at low rpm but it revs out bloody nice (use to run out of puff above 4000, now it'll happily rev to 5500ish). Also idles real nice, better than the old carb! I haven't found it a problem yet not having chokes fitted to it so will see if a bit of cold weather starts to make it a problem, haha. Only thing I really need is a filter as I'm not a fan of running open carbs, anyone got an old one lying around they wanna sell? I've also just recently done a bit of an overhaul of the steering, rebuilt both inner tie rods, still have a little bit of play but enough to pass a wof so will maybe look at getting rebuild kits for the inner rods at some stage, have also replaced both outer tie rod ends, steering coupling is now urethane as are the sway bar mounts and steering rack mounts. Has made a HUGE difference to the front end, it's so much more planted and confident on the road and has made driving it so much nicer. Also wired up the rear demister and spent some time replacing wiring to the stereo and cig lighter with a new fused power feed straight from the battery, no more worrying about overloading factory wiring. She also has a tacho now which makes driving a bit easier as I know what she's doing. Had a fantastic drive down to beach hop as well, was a bit nervous as it was my first long trip in her but she ran so well, didn't miss a beat the whole day! I have a few big maintenance things I've gotta do to the daily before I sink more money into this, but once I'm back on track with that I'll be lowering it and starting to look out for a better engine, for now though I'm quite happy with how it's driving.
  22. Yeah nearly filled that top carpark. Weird after so much sweet weather and no shows to have a cold and dark night and the whole town turns up for a geeze. Those burgers at Burgerfuel have shrunk!
