  1. Update#1 due to the over abundence of rust in the previously listed ute I decided to purchase a more viable option thus I have purchased this gem below as a more suitable starting point to this objective. As you can see it is reasonably stock and in pretty much STD condition the inside is mostly intact apart from the drivers seat With an L18 power plant Float level is a litte high in the carb but other than that it runs like a charm with the odd vibration which is to be expected for a gem of this vintage.
  2. Custom Made wheels as above will cost $775.00 each + $40 for painting, polishing or powdercoating So that's $3100 + for a set
  3. Update #3 Here's what I've been uptosince I went back to Tech on Monday Should have this side sorted by the end of the day tomorrow then I need to bend up the rear panel and work my way bacK around to the front, Or I may fold up the rear panel then go straight around to the front and work on the splitter
  4. Sanity has provailed and I have decided to find another Ute to do all this to now
  5. Hey bud, just putting it out there,I've wrecked a couple of these in the last year or so I have quite a number of R30 spares not many body parts but other bolt on's I mostlikely have somewhere if your looking for anything PM Me and I'll have a look for you.
  6. Update#2 Here's the next picture have done more since this but don't have pics of it yet 1 main difference between mine and the Tomica R30 is that their's is around 200-250mm longer in the back end which to me just looks wrong!! I guess if it just dont look right when its finished I can always extend it
  7. Update#1 Well guys after having this sitting around for awhile now I finally got it of My mums lawn and into the workshop for some well overdue attention the plan is to get it to look a little like the pre facelift version of the Tomica R30 Super Silhouette formula series in 1982 & 1983 So I have started to fabricate the widebody guards that made it a force to be recond with for so long These will be used (when finished) as the plugs for a number of fibre glass molds for the full blown body kit so that the finished article doesn't out weigh the Queen Mary
  8. Update #1 Well it's about time I filled you all in on some of the progress I've been making on my projects. I have been having discussions with my Fabrication tutor at Wintec about possibly fabricating the intake manifold (above) out of Carbon Fibre, he said it could be done but it would be way easier to fabricate it out off Aluminium, which I had pretty much figured already, am going to do some more research on this subject and get back to you. Meanwhile I have had the R30 on the Chassis straightening machine at in the panel shop @ Wintec measuring it up to see if my susspisions were correct about the chassis being bent and sure enough it was it was 17mm too high on the left hand side and 5mm on the right hand side. so I proceeded to un-stitch both sides of the front to allow me to straighten out the bent chassis rails By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 And repair all the rust By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 haven't done much else on this side have been concentrating on the left hand side for now By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 The next pics are of the aftermath of what I am assuming to be the previous owners attempt at repairing the rust in the front shock tower, what It looks like they have done is removed both skins then patched the hole by Mig-welding in what turned out to be 0.5mm "Coloursteel" the once they had done that they have trimmed the rust off the piece the cut out and Mig-welded the remaining piece of the inside skin back n and bogged over it to disguise the cock up, god knows how it ever passed a W.O.F inspection the guy must have been blind Under the Guard By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30 Engine bay side By jurassic_auto at 2012-08-30
  9. Here's a few more pics to show the extent of the work being undertaken............ insanity raines supreme What's left of the battery box Right hand side of radiator support just in front of the battery box with similar issues on the left hand side also Up under the left hand gaurd with similar issues on the right hand side aswell Am having to relocate the stock Z32 Oil filter mount so I can use the Z31 starter and gearbox as the mount is right where the starter needs to be for this all to work. Shouldn't be too much of an issue if I just use a remote filter mount Also having to replace all the cambelt covers, water pump as they were bent and broken in the accident the donor car was in and may aswell do the cambelt while I'm at it.
  10. Yet another project in my shed this time it's a Quad cam PG720. The plan is to create a vehicle that I can transport Misc parts with for other projects and tow my other V8 R30 Project race car I'm building. So I'm fitting a VG30DE out of a Z32 attached to this will be a Borg Warner T5 from a Z31 with HD clutch setup and all this is being shoe-horned into my 720 it should be interesting if nothing else lots of Skids for me!! Uploaded with ImageShack.us With The last part of this project will be to fabricate a low loader trailer (Design Pics to come)
  11. Yeah, I've still got to machine the ports in to the pattern so they can make an internal mold and tidy up and smooth of the exterior then it just amatter of gettingit cast up in alluminium will most likely get more than 1 made and see if anyone else wants to buy1 off me.
  12. Yeah the plan is to get the intake manifold cast so I can maybe sell a few to interesested people and also to fabricate the twin turbo headers once Ive got the intake sorted.
  13. Well lads, I'm interested an any imput :scratch:you might have on this project, look forward to your comments Cheers BJ
  14. As I promised earlier, here are a few pics of my ongoing project Black 83 HR30 GT I've been working on for 12 months or so on and off. viewtopic.php?f=18&t=28626 Had to remove the original radiator support panel & replace it with 1 of a shell I wrecked as previous owner had butchered it with a disc grinder and cutoff wheel to fit the dodgey intercooler piping. Had to removed the whole front end assembly to replace front crossmember and straighten the lefthand chassis rail & while im at it I will replace the stock crossmember with one from a DR30 which will move the engine and gearbox back 25mm this may not sound like much, but this is stage 1 of the frontend rebuild stage two will involve replacing the steering box and arms with s14 front hubs reversed so that the steering arms face the front and fitting a powersteering rack from a Nissan Serena so that I will then be able to run a rear sump which will inturn tranfer a bit more weight to the centre of the car. As far as the interior is conserned still under development throwing a few ideas around. was planning on using thes seats but have changed my mind As far as the engine goes I haven't done much with that as yet. Just trying my spin on a idea of DJZ turning my dizzy into a crank angle sensor so I can run multiple coils with the Link i've got for the car Am also working an idea of my own and that is to fit GTi-R throttlebodies to my L31, Here's a few pic showing what ive done so far! viewtopic.php?f=18&t=28626

  17. Luckily I have another bonnet for this off 1 of the others I scraped a few months back things are all good there the mods on the firewall are very well done, the plan is to use a 4speed auto button shift trans out of a patrol on the back of the VH45DE and build this for straight lines only
  18. Yes they are and I have another HR30 getting a TT L31 that Im also converting to rack and pinion. but that's for another post
  19. Project Thread > viewtopic.php?f=17&t=26343 so what do ya think about this 1 lads
  20. Discussion > viewtopic.php?f=18&t=26344 Here's another project that I happened across on trademe. By jurassic_auto By jurassic_auto Ive been toying with this Idea for sometime now and this just happened to crop up on trademe 1 day. The guy I bought this of has already had this running with a P76 Alloy V8 in it and reckoned it went really well. By jurassic_auto at 2011-04-24 I'm not that keen on hybrids of any sort, so Im intending to fit a VH45DE into the engine bay and maybe turbo it at a later date with a Garrett GT45. By jurassic_auto
