  1. this is why i didnt go with a s14 rear subframe the top arm will hit part of the chassis which will involve a whole lot more chassis modifications to c notch it higher so i can get it lower... or making different arms which still in theory wont get u that much more play. i mean thats not to bad its the maddat ute ....its on bigger rims and not as low as mine but gives a good indication of what will clash with the original body
  2. oh yea interesting thats a good idea so it will be a stronger change to go to them? cause from what iv heard the 510 halfshalfts are a little weak depending on how hard ur pushing it to i guess. i defiantly will be giving it a hard time haha
  3. and yea runamuck what do they look like i have been looking at getting some made from overseas in the usa cost like bloody 1400 buks tho. i want something like this
  4. so hear we are boys.... this is what it looks from the top, also have a compartment for my battery and any other gear etc i carry... will be fully sealed and is lockable. underneath its abit of a mission iv shortened the xmember by 120mm either side re strengthened it and tig welded it all back up and going to tig the seams. also i shortened the wheel base by and inch so its all the original wheelbase now... so its pretty good and fit-mint is perfect... iv found some adjustable plates for the camber and toe angles so it will be fully adjustable.
  5. Thanks guys, yea it's somthing different ae she'll be running and driving this year I'm hoping will stick some pictures up of underneath tonight , it's sitting abit low at the moment I'm going to raise it about 20mm just for clearances on the back ... But that's still dragging lol
  6. hi guys thought i would get back on this stuff and show u a little of my project im planing on finishing up this year.... i have a 1982 datsun 1200 ute running standard motor with a few small tweaks to get her motoring abit more all adjustable suspension front and back with also rear independent suspension i have modified to sit nicely under the ute. i used a 510 sedan rear set up which made it easier all the diff bolts straight up to the drive shaft which is pretty cool makes things easier... alot of tweaking and slight mods to make it work in it..... i chose the 510 simply because i wanted the ute to still be era correct (ish) and the single arm can get my truck lower to the ground haha.... with a s14 set up theres alot more shorting of the subframe more weight as well... and the top wishbone arm will hit the chassis so yea... if the 510 xmember etc can work well in the race cars and dominate on the race track in its day y shouldnt it be able to do the same in my ute. couple of pics of her Discussion: //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/52317-anton-fs-datsun-1200-with-irs/
  7. hey guys just wondering weather anyone no's much about the re-vinning stuff, i have a datsun ute that got into a car crash and has been written off iv almost finished repairing everything and modifications.. is the revinning very hard to take to get done? who does it? vtnz or low volume cert guys thanks
  8. na that doesnt work the signal cant pick the it up off the coil pack for the electronic ignition on it. i was just wondering weather anyone else has had that problem because i know some models need a resistor for the tacho to pick up the signal
  9. hey guys hopfully someone else thats had a go at putting this stuff in will know more info... iv got a auto gauge rev counter for my 1200 datsun ute but to connect it to my dissy i need a resistor because i have an electronic dissy on it etc.. any ideas anyone???
  10. it really depends what kind of lumpy cam it is doent really have any specs on the listing... id say all off those mods you may be pulling the same as the 1600 or just slightly more to be honest.. the 1300 had around 60hp and the 1600 has about 80hp maybe cant quite remember off the top of my head. at the end off the day the horse power is going to come down to the cam and how big the jets and airflow is. i think you would be better off just keeping the 1.6 in it or pulling it out and rebuilding it with sidedrafts, mild street cam and extractors, and a medium head port etc and youll be entering into the 100hp range if tuned out right. hope that helps abit anyway
  11. i cant take it off the car cause its a daily driver.. and that kinda stuff should be in repco's system they just not good to deal with anymore. sweet il go to nissan they will have them or get them easy. flexi hoses are needed.
  12. hey guys, anyone no of anywhere where i can get front brake lines for a 1981 datsun 1200 ute? repco people are idiots im sick of dealing with them!
  13. theres a hole right infront of the pod filter so its getting plenty of air thro. i was reading up on air flow and cool air etc. the cold air getting blown straight in will make a small difference to performance when the cars running hot.
  14. hey guys thought id just shove some photos up of my datsun 1200 ute. show everyone what iv got :)
  15. yea i probably will. im getting some new springs lower and heavy duty so thatl be sweet as. see how much lower thatl make it then il make the cut when i put it in. and il get some damper adjustable shocks i think as well to harden it up also
  16. ok sweet as i was just making sure since i was reading the cert codes and that. how much space do you actully have to have between the chassis and the axel? cant be much if you really stiffen up the back end of the ute haha. yea i thought of just moving the bump stop to the side so it misses the chassis and the weld a plate on the side of the chassis for it to hit so you can go lower
  17. i was just reading up on the low volume certs etc.. not a good idea notching that aprently alot of people fair on the notching stuff because they cant put the same strength in to it, from the original chassis strength.
  18. hey guys im hoping someone will no abit more about mods on lowering cars/utes etc. i wanted to love my datsun 1200 ute down more currently got blocks in the back 2 and 1/2 inches.. half and inch to an inch needs to come out for the cert and i could make it back up in resetting the leaf springs. but looking at the back end i saw the hanger on the rear of the spring leafs hanging down about 4'' i was wondering if i could just cut it right out, reinforce around the chassis and drill a hole thro it so the brackets that hold the leaf spring sit up higher dropping the body down lower. input would be greatly apreciated as it needs to be done real soon so i can cert it and get a warrent again
  19. hey guys, does anyone have some leaf springs to sell. i am wanting to buy a secound pair to reset for my 1200 datsun ute. wanted to do it so i can still drive my ute untill i get them done. if anyone has some thatl fit give me a txt 027 222 1658
  20. Id be keen to bring my Datsun 1200 ute for that.
