  1. Have you thought about a fogger nos kit? That would certainly surprise your b16a friend and could be set up relatively cheaply.
  2. People use boso far too loosely. It's a fairly specific styling and doesn't involve burning bonnets or roof racks. Plus do a skid.
  3. ^ If you were reincarnated, you would be a sheep. I'd say there's still some room for more beating up eg find an armco. The front lip is wicked. What's it off? Nice car.
  4. Not sure about the driving lights though. I think they look a bit modern and take away from the nice chrome bumpers. If it were mine, I would keep the front as un-cluttered as possible. Just because it looks so mint by itself it would be difficult to add to it.
  5. Looks awesome man! Love the mesh on the headlights. Can I see some camber? Maybe not.
  6. It's tricky one for me because I think both will look good. That's why I was interested in other peoples thoughts. Front is proper adjustables so that should be all good. I'm still not sure on min clearance though. The crossmember is fairly close to the ground.
  7. Joker what a funny guy. 1" higher? Could be keen.
  8. Yea I know what you mean. It's definitely not the typical rake/tyre/rims combo. I guess I'm pretending I'm in Japan and ridiculous, impractical, awesome cars are semi acceptable in a small group. Turns out I'm not in Japan. Is what broken?
  9. I wish I could see what cars the people who voted own. Obviously this forum caters to a huge variety of cars and individual taste and I'm not expecting many people to go against the grain. Some have and I'm probably bias towards the wedge. Of the 60 odd votes, at a guess 20 maybe more would own old modified japanese rides, half of them voted yea, that plus my bias equals an overall 'make it so' this far. Still open to persuasion and this is all presuming it is legal. I take no offence and am enjoying the comments. Just to be clear, the wedge would not be chosen on handling merits.
  10. The Japanese fire van is epic for sure. Not epic if you try to replicate it and even worse without the IRS conversion. It's like a replica Michael Jackson doing the 'This Is It' tour. Hah that's an interesting thought. The back will be relatively cheap to lower as you most probably know. I'll keep it in mind though. Keep the opinions coming in. Maybe post in the poll thread though if mods don't like off topic?
  11. I value your opinion Zeb. If I could just take a moment of your time: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=28786 But really, it's a pretty buzzy car so I thought doing something different would be a good idea. Better than that guy down south doing the semi-replica fire van..thanks but no thanks.
  12. I know of no such loophole. Was just presuming it may be illegal but there may be some way to get around it. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks for the responses everyone. It's really helpful. When I had it like this I got pink stickered and the cop told me it had to be level but he really didn't know and just thought it was ridiculous. I didn't adjust the headlights so not sure if they will adjust far enough but high beam seamed to be about normal reach to non-wedge low beam. Seeing out the back isn't a problem and steering wasn't bad at all but I didn't think of the castor change. Could move the strut tops back if I have to. I searched for the 'cert' thread but forgot the 's'. Can it be moved? I think it will be best to just talk to certifier man. No one likes the wedge? Maybe you'll come around when it's done. I've been undecided myself but came to the decision that the Corona will be low at both ends. When I was in the wedge the day I lowered it some guy asked me to "bag it up bro". Also if I ever sold it I could legitimately use the "gets heapz ov luks yung an 0ld" line, but I don't say that they look in disgust/confusion. I think I'll even start a pole.
  13. I couldn't find the cert thread. I'm wondering if it is legal to have your front real low and the back standard height? Maybe something like this: (exactly like that) I'll be having a yarn with the certifier soon but was just wanting a heads up or ideas of how to jump a loop hole.
  14. I've sorted the rear of the Corona and am interested to see what people would suggest for the front. I have made a pair of adjustable coilovers for my Carina using ae92 shockers and jamex kit, cut and weld strut etc so this could be done again relatively easily and would cost about $300 as I already have shocks. Other options I can think of are converting to ae86 aftermarket gear, or converting to s13 struts and hubs. Can you dismantle aftermarket adjustables and graft them onto standard struts, pretty much just using the Corona stub axles? Any other ideas or advice would be great. Alternatively, if anyone knows of something pre made ready to go, get at me (hate it when people say that) or PM.
  15. I heard that anywhere that does only wof's and replaces wiper blades can remove stickers? Not sure how true this is. I went to VTNZ and they weren't overly cunty. Still pretty cunty.
  16. Rims look sick. What size tyres will you fit?
  17. Just need the extended length of the shocks you have. When you jack up the car you should be able to measure this length. You would then need to know the un compressed length of the cobra lows to find how much lower you can go.
  18. So you're proabably looking to go close to the 100mm limit? Shorter/compressed/cut springs and shocks is fairly simple and there is likely a shop that provides these services locally. Most probably the cheapest way to lower legally. Alternatives like adjustable or frankenstein struts require cert and would be expensive if you didn't have access to equipment.
  19. Bags of sand or stacks of tiles. Easy to stow sand in/around engine bay and is good if your on a budget (only need sacks). Tiles would probably be more suitable in the boot and can be stacked to desired ride height. Pretty legit. I wouldn't recommend liquids. They can upset the balance of the car during cornering. Good luck.
  20. Hey please keep comments on topic. PM me
  21. Bumpy roads are definitely a feature of my daily drive. So it sounds like 5kg springs with those hilux shocks would be pretty good. I don't mind a stiff ride if it's responsive and has a good feel if you know what I mean. The seats are pretty gangster spec padded which may do some work.
  22. Could you elaborate on the super gayness? My only experience with spring rates is with some adjustables (front) I made with 4kg springs but they turned out to be softer than I would have liked. So I'm open to suggestions.
  23. Did you need to shorten them to keep the springs captive? Thanks
  24. Equally as rubbish springs. I'm pretty sure they are standard ones that have been compressed. I deflated the shocks to see if they actually had any effect other than ride height. No effect. I will be upgrading springs also. Would custom made be the easiest option? I'll probably go for 7 or 8 kg in the rear so any suggestions as to a suitable shock would be great.
  25. Awesome. Thanks man! Was this in a T130?
