  1. Nah they are the proper 60-61 alloy outers. I wouldnt recommend the chromed steel ones. With the car sitting for a couple weeks they start getting rust spots on from water sitting on them.
  2. guards had to take a bit of a beating but they are on and not rubbing! paint cracked a lot though and found some bog/rust please excuse the shitty photos!
  3. youll probably have to break it out. the glass bit is usually glued in
  4. yeah they came out sweet! so stoaked i got to be in a magazine!
  5. yeah negative camber plus narrow tyres should do the trick to fit them on the front! They are just for the back for now though. 8s will go up front. one day id like to go to 10 or 11j in the back with the 9 up front. That would rock my socks!
  6. aww yeeee AW yeeee AW YEEEAH and it seems they will fit on the front with a bit of modification! but that's for another day Ended up being 14x9 -6 tyres tomorrow!
  7. its got a 2.0 in it but id be keen on anything thatll bolt straight in. im also after a drivers window regulator if ya got one?
  8. Hey man are either of the old engines out of those utes any good? Im in the market for one. I just got an old courier with a servere knocking sound in the engine.
  9. Time to investigate the rust situation. The scurge of almost every oldschooler Automotive archaeology. might be better suited to a CSI person Windscreen or door rubbers must be leaking. The carpet is wet, mouldy and rotten. mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm yum not real rust here though Doors on the other hand have all rotted the bottoms right out now why the fuck would some shit stain go to all the trouble to weld in a patch, bog over it all nice, primer and then match the paint real nice.... and NOT CUT THE FUCKING RUST OUT!!?? even the patch rusted through Back door has had the same treatment, note the cracked paint above the line and the peely paint below Also has the same thing going on behind the back wheel on one side. But i haven't found any other rust yet so if its just the 4 doors and a small bit behind the back wheel it's not all bad. Eyes on the prize!!
  10. Dropped these off to pine engineering for splitting and drilling etc Can't wait till their back and on the car! Excite!
  11. thats how i diagnose/test all the ones i overhaul at work
  12. If ya still have the starter off put it in a vice and spin it over with ya battery and see if it has enough grunt to chew up a piece of wood with the gear on the end. Should smoke up a piece of wood pretty good and grind into it a fair way
  13. this picture makes me sad. Yours and ke36s ex builds were exactly what made me do what i did to mine. Years ago when i first got my ex i must have read through your build like 100 times. i found that build thread lastnight, The guy doesnt say enough about the shit hes using haha. As far as i can tell hes got the km119 gbox bolted straight up to it? which is a l200 one isnt it?
  14. nah, if i was to go turbo it would have to be dohc. Mivec would be a bit different though which would make it that much sweeter! sohc 4g63 though would just be so easy tho. Hows your ex doing damien? i see there hasnt been an update for a solid year
  15. I will still turbo the ex one day. Although I sold the turbo engine n setup I had lined up for it. I'll never get rid of that car tho so one day I'll buy another decent engine for it. NA is still going strong! Yeah I could be wrong about that engine in it, I just assumed, either way it's shithouse and I hate it. Has a pretty bad rattle/knock/smoking thing going on too so I don't know how long it will last under normal driving conditions anyway. Haha plus when I got it it had compression on only one cylinder! I think the rings had sized or gone dry or something. I just filled the bores up with a mixture of brake cleaner and oil for a couple days and it came right haha Mivec engine would be pretty dam cool! Would love to find some info on a conversion like that! Surely it's been done before?
  16. Someone find me some fender mirrors like these please

  18. Yes that's right be4ver has another project! And i say this a lot but i've wanted on of these for a long time! its kind of a long story but it belonged to an elderly couple one of whom is my partners grandfathers sister, what ever that makes it Aunt?. I saw the car a few years earlier and tentatively asked if theyd ever want to sell it they should tell me. Any way years passed and i heard nothing about it. They werent able to drive over the last couple years either for old people reasons so its sat unused for some time. Untill late last year when sadly one died and had wished for the car to stay in the family. I subsequently then somewhat inherited it. and thats how we get to here... its got a the mighty shit 4g32 and auto box which id like to swap out for a SOHC 4g63 and 5 speed as you can see it was pretty neglected when i got it. Must not have been washed or polished in a long time but it came up pretty good after a bit of cleaning and polishing unfortunately there is rust coming through the paint all over the roof and bonnet as the paint is so thin and weathered but it will be ok for now. Aswell as some small spots of rot in the bottom of the doors but nothing major. I've sanded and painted over the worst of it but it will eventually need a full on sand and repaint. Had a play with some ex lancer springs in the back which lowered it a bit, looks pretty good on my 14x7 works too. need to figure out something for the front now. Also Quite like the look of some gold meshies too Dont think ill be lowering it extreeme amounts but i keep looking at pictures like these and i really want to ....
  19. chees im not sure i follow. I have the x71s strut, hub and disk but its my 61 caliper that is wrong. This pic is with a cressida caliper which is the same as on my gx61. so i would need a caliper off a 71 wouldnt i? unless this strut isnt what i think it is
  20. Well long time no up date. Not heaps has happened with it, mostly due to starting a new job where I have to do actual work all day instead of working on my cars all day haha. Anyway what I have done is attempt to test fit the adjustables I got off ant ages ago. This quickly failed when I discovered the x61 calipers must be smaller than the x71 ones because the mounting holes were further apart than the ones on my car. So if anyone has some gx71 calipers lying around please measure the distance between the mounting holes and then possibly sell them to me Got these in the weekend so will be soon running 8.5s on the back and the 8s can go up front. Well I think.........I've gone done confused myself. I measured the dish on my 7.5s and the dish on these new outters is 1.4inches more. So wouldn't that make it more like almost a 9 inch wide rim? Or am I just thinking about this all wrong? Either way :D Santa bear is keepin them scratch free Was also lucky enough to join some riverside guys in a photoshoot for nzpc magazine this weekend. So awesome! And great to finally meet some of the people who have inspired me with my build. Cant wait for the issue to come out! Really inspired me to get this thing lower after after I saw how high my car is compared to these guys! Now to find a hoist to borrow so I can put my w55 in! Will be sussing a new clutch and flywheel machining in the coming weeks as well as wheels so will hopefully motivate me to get things done.
  21. looks awesome man! but don't sell it now that you've got it looking how ya want it. Although these do appear to be going for good money at the moment!
  22. 90s VIP is kinda hideous but that's what I like! I'm sure it'll be all the rage in another 10 years or so Yeah i did sell it which is gay but I need some cash at the moment till I start my new job. Guy that brought it loved it
  23. linglongs won the cheapest tyres competition.....
