  1. Nissan dealer, was about $100 but worth it as all the second hand ones will suffer the same problems
  2. Wanting to get my ute cab media blasted of some sort, what are the pros and cons of either sand or soda blasting? The cab is stripped bare and off the chassis. It has a small amount of rust/bog but nothing major just 30yrs of wear/tear/road grime.
  3. It is the shitty design of the switch gear, real common in d21 navaras/datsuns. Had a similar problem with mine ended up replacing the unit with a new one as i couldnt be bothered cleaning/bending the copper fingers every few weeks.

Wanting to know what the go when swapping a gearbox that uses a cable operated clutch into a vehicle that uses a hydraulic operated clutch? would the norm be to modify the clutch setup to suit a cable or somehow convert the gearbox to suit hydro set up? gearbox is a 5speed holden (v6 vn/vp commodore vintage) any advice appreciated cheers
  8. cheers for the replies as i thought, not expecting alot from an old motor but just wanted to check if they had any massive problems with age being alloy and all. I dont have any engine re-building experince so would rather pay more and get a good motor to start with. A latter model lexus v8 would be better but the rover would be more than enough for my application and is a much cheaper alternative. I read on wickipedia that rover manual trans were prone to breakages? that maybe the earlier 3500 models tho i think. do the water galleries corrode massivly? other than that they seem to be a fairly robust engine. will have a look out on tme for the toyota adaptor sets. i think most people just run them with factory autos in conversions it seems..
  9. what 5speed manual gearboxes/bellhousings are compatable with this motor? are there any common faults with this motor and what is the longevity of the aluminium motor like? are they any good with high kms? cheers
  10. Is there any easy way of identifying what ratio a 720 diff is without opening it up? would the rear diff on a diesel 4x4 720 be the same as a 2wd diesel equivalent? Sorry for jacking the thread btw
  11. L6 conversion? is that a L16 motor your talking about? Are the SD22/33 powered 720's diesel? how much modification was required to fit into the 620?

  14. I converted my old 620 to L18 and 4 speed floorchange from a 180b. The 'performance' increase was very minimal. Diff ratio is the key to keeping th 100kph rpms down i think. I looked into compatable diffs but could find no easy swaps, i did hear of someone using a shortened terrano rear end tho? The J15 is just as reliable as the a15 but neither are going to set the world on fire in terms of performance so i would stick with the J if your not going any bigger in engine size personally.
