  1. Hey guys after getting a 1600 built up for my mk1 I've had a couple problems fitting it in, just wondering what people have done in the past also if someone has some solutions and photos of things for me. First problem- The sump, with a 1300 sump the crank bottoms out on the sump, with a 1600 sump the sump sits on my cross member... do people make a custom sump half way between or do you change engine mounts? Second problem- My New webber carb and 'fomoco' webber manifold have no where to mount on accelerator bracket and I can't see how I could get the std cable to work... anyone have photos of how it gets set up or could describe to me? Third problem- my current headers have been lifted up and are hitting the passengers floor st the front and sitting 'very' close to the brake lines on fire wall. Looking at buying a new set of 1600 cobys from trademe will this fix it up? I may have to lift the engine because of sump will I have the same problem again? Thanks Guys
  2. I had Hardend stainless VW valves machined down, wasn't very pricey. Was well cheaper than 18pound each. Can get the details if you like?

  4. Couldn't find summit site... link? I sent a email away to palmside asking if we could get a special price for a larger order, they are $435 for a outlaw
  5. What currency are those prices in and are they per pair or per caliper? The M16 outlaws look pretty good.
  6. quick look at burtons UK lead me to beleave that for 113pound + shipping you got a a direct bolt on 4 pot wilwood with pad... Where you getting from the US?
  7. well obviously you'll need to put/move mounting brackets, sway bar brackets etc. Also using a hilus diff will give you the srong stud pattern and you'll have to run a pedal box or similar for the brakes
  8. Yea kinda thinking of ordering a set of wilwoods, group order to keep down shipping perhaps?
  9. I think escort is more like 1315...??
  10. Hey man where you from? If your in aucks I could come show you a couple of the things people have been suggesting here.
  11. yea i was looking at that listing as I to am looking to upgrade the rear end, the diff is slightly longer than std and 4.8 is a killer ratio.. id be after around 4 even slightly below would be better.

    Carby help

Hi guys I need to get a new carb for my escort, its a worked 1600 engine. I was just wondering as they seem to be more common can I use a 2Ltr cortina carb and just have it rejetted for a 1600? If so does anyone know anyone good/cheap in auckland who does this? I've been told to try find a 32/36 webber.. any other suggestions. Thanks
  18. Hi guys I'm sure several people on here have done this so I was just looking for some advice/tips/walkthroughs on putting side drafts on my crossflow and what to do about that massive brake booster and mount being in the way... Perhaps a remote break booster because I have heard changing the angle of the mount and shifting the booster down is a nightmare. Thanks guys
  19. Pull the dash out and wire all warning lights into the oil warning light... keep your oil good and you should never have a problem with any warning lights again XD
  20. Can only use the mk1s... but while changing ur dash upgrade to the 6 guage and buy a new fibreglass dashpad from palmside GT dash FTW
  21. Went and brought new king springs for the front, seems to have fixed the problem, the old springs appear to be the same when out also the leafs appear to be exactly the same when out... I can only guess one of the old front springs has worse sag than the other? Thanks guys
  22. So I swapped my front springs, this seemed to heave helped/almost fixed my problem... even though the lean was at the rear.
  23. No I'm not sure, the car is permantly on a lean, when someone sits in the passengers seat the left drops a little but if someone sits in the right the right drops alot on top of the fact its already lower. I'm considering buying some kingspring superlows for the front, perhaps I should buy them and see what happens?
  24. Hi guys, my escort wagon is on a lean(lower on drivers side). Failed its WOF on this today, I already knew about this problem before wof, I have tried swapping the rear leafs over as the lean looks to be at the back more than the front(the leafs have also been reset and had new leafs added in at snells not so long ago), all the shocks are new... anyone have any ideas what i can do? Thanks
  25. Yea I wanted to know about using the datsun crank but I have spoken to a couple people and its not a cheap thing to do so I'll give it a pass.
