  1. I worked out the cost of competing in all rounds of the upcoming 2013/2014 Mazda Pro7 Racing Series, including entry fees, fuel, tyres, travel, plus the purchase price of my own trailer and and engine rebuild, and it came to a grand total of $21,800. Hmmm...
  2. I'll upload the quickest run later today hopefully. In the meantime, I need to earn some money as I am about to buy a new set of tyres, and pay for my entry for the Hamilton Car Club/MBOP dual sprints at Hampton Downs this weekend. Anyone else going?
  3. Shit yeah, I'm pretty happy with 5th place overall for the day. I just watched my in-car video from the last run, and there's still quite a bit of time that I could make up once I learn the road. After doing my first hillclimb event, I'm definitely a fan now.
  4. Tyres and rims sorted, fueled up, car is loaded on the trailer, and Heath's bonnet is in the van. See you fellas tomorrow.
  5. I suppose I shouldn't complain about the rain since it's winter, but potentially 3 out of 3 events affected by rain so far is pretty gay. What are worn semis like to drive on a wet road? Much better than the ice skating rink at Hampton Downs, but still pretty dicey, I'd imagine?
  6. Oh man, a silver Turbo II with black interior is my dream car. Ok, maybe not my dream car, but I like it a lot.
  7. Yep, that's exactly what I feel like doing. Where is it?
  8. Oh, that would be super helpful, Markku. It sounds like the trailer I'm planning on buying isn't quite going to be finished for this weekend. Shall I contact you on Saturday about borrowing it? Are you going to the hillclimb?
  9. I'll be there competing, assuming the usual trailer hunt goes ok. I'm a little nervous about racing on the road as I've never done a hillclimb before, so I'll be watching that video repeatedly I'd say.
  10. I'm using the RX-7 in all the Fiat Club Waikato Tarmac Series events at the moment, as well as the odd Hamilton Car Club event too. I'm getting plenty of track time in the car, which is great. Time's ticking along pretty quickly though, and I need to have a fresh engine for the upcoming 2013/2014 Mazda Pro7 Racing Series. If anyone knows of a donor engine that I can use for a rebuild over the coming months, it would be much appreciated. 11. Oh, I just checked the email database and your name isn't on the list. I thought it was for some reason, as I saw it on one of the Excel files I've been given recently.
  12. Heath - did you receive the Hamilton Car Club email about the Newsletter/Bulletin yesterday?
  13. I didn't take a huge number of photos at the autocross, but here are a few of the Oldschool members: And this, just because it's awesome: I've written a blog post on KiwiMotoring this evening too: http://www.kiwimotoring.com/blog/post/event-fiat-club-waikato-tarmac-series-autocross
  14. I think that's a good choice. Maybe I should consider them for a Pro7 engine rebuild too.
  15. Where are you going for the re-tune?
  16. It felt like this scene out of Family Guy at the time: http://youtu.be/cNkp4QF3we8
  17. I have an in-car video of me yelling "Yowzer! Yowzer! Yowzer!" after one of my runs, as I'm sitting in the pit area trapped in my car for a few minutes because my door cable was jammed. Yowzer couldn't hear me, but somebody else came to my rescue eventually.
  18. Damn - I wanted to see that video of Shane. What happened to the videos? There is some free software available that might be able to get them back.
  19. Sweet, got a trailer here now, so I'm just about to load the car on. I will drive the RX-7 to Hampton one day though.
  20. Still trying to sort out a trailer. I think I've got one organised, but it still isn't confirmed. Really looking forward to having my own one, which I was hoping to have before this event. It's a nice day here in Hamilton today, and I think it's going to be like this again tomorrow.
  21. Yeah, they were heaps better once it dried out. They were still pretty slippery while they were cold, but they warmed up pretty quickly with all the skidding. That was fun.
  22. I'll be there too, assuming that I get a trailer sorted. Not too keen on having zero traction again if it's wet, so I might get a pair of road tyres for the back too. What would be better if it's dry though? Worn out Toyo 888s, or some average condition road tyres?
  23. Flicking through my reject photos from the motorkhana, and there are quite a few of Shane's and Max's Escorts. Here are the best of the worst: And a special appearance by Zach Galifianakis:
  24. Cool build. Where'd you get the brand new gearbox from?
