  1. Sweet as, wont be down in reporoa till next sunday so will sort it then
  2. Yeah but i would want them as close as possible just to have it that extra little bit better have search around and found these. Seem to be the best so far with all measurements etc. Hahaha its a bit of a bastardisation though, cortina diff, mitsi callipers, honda rotors
  3. Sweet does anyone know of someone in central auckland, rotorua or taupo who does it??
  4. I need to change the stud pattern on some discs from 4x114 to 4x108. How legal is it to get them redrilled?? And who would do this?? Cheers in advance
  5. If your running a 1600 xflow the sierra type 9 bolts straight onto the back. Just gotta change clutch plate to a hillman one so it fit the gear box. When i did this into my mk1 I just had to cahnge the gearbox x-member (still have the template if you decide to do it) and the driveshaft yoke to be changed. Worth while I reckon. Into a mk1 no tunnel work was needed and mk1 & mk2 are basically the same so you should have no probs.
  6. Yea fair enough for wanting to keep it ford. Will look sweet once you have it done. make sure you have a plan else it just drags on and on and on....... Mine was ment to be a quick couple of month thing which has now turned into 4 yrs and still not wofed and enjoying it. What capri parts you wanting??? I'm trying to get rid of sum parts
  7. I think colourwise you should go a dark silver / gun metal grey And have a black stripes over the bonnet silver like this corty
  8. Also thing I got done, started putting in my new diff. Its got disc brakes, no more drums now. I brought a capri front end...waste of time really but had good inserts, but they have way different tops, probably have to use escort top hats now......cheers Mr Mk1 for the measurements differences between the capri and cortina Also probably use the capri front discs. they are quite a bit wider. pic of the differences between thicknesses
  9. So Did a bit more work Rebuilt the steering box where do I start I hope I remember where all the right parts go YUS Success haha two rebuilt steering boxes, one with all the best parts, the other with all the crap haha
  10. Cheers for that. Exactly what I needed to know.
  11. cool, could you post them up after you get a chance to measure them please.
  12. Well from initial measurements it appears that it should. I have managed to undo the screw cap to get a cortina one out yet to properly see! But it looks as tho it should If some one has that measurement that would be sweet
  13. Well you see, I'v got mk2 front struts, but one of the shocks gets stuck down, it wont come back up, also the rubber mount of the cortina top hats is getting real bad, started coming off and they are real hard to get new ones!!! . I have some capri fronts aswell so have taken the inserts out of them and want to put them in the mk2 tina ones! But the tops are different like the escort ones. So i figured that if i used escort top hats it should fit?? I cant post photos till tomorrow tho
  14. Hello All Someone must know this off the tops of their head. Do escort top hats fit the mk1 cortina front suspension mounting holes?? I know that most parts are similar because ford designers werent that imaginative but i know for certain that capri ones dont haha!!! (GRRRRR I learnt that hard way, I should be shot ) If possible could someone measure the distance between mounting bolts of their escort so I can measure the cortina ones and compare. Cheers
  15. Well i'm running 16" rims with 205/40/16 tyres what were you ^ running that made it such a problem??
  16. Hey. Im putting a disc brake diff in my mk1 but the way it has been set up is that the rear shock now connects to the lowering block and not the diff as it originally did.........would this be ok???????????????, I cant find anything on the LVVTA site!!!! Also the blocks are 75mm, which is ok coz the LVVTA say my question is would these http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =249825161 be sweet to use??? Cheers
  17. I'm having that problem with my Mk1 Cortina at the moment! Can't find anyone to do it because of part availibility etc. What I'v done is tracked down another steering box and going to build one from the best bits of the two!! That could be an option, I'm not sure how part availibity is for datos
  18. how about this trademe listing http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =247126054 would be cool if dollars permitted!!! LSD and disc brakes already there. tho stud pattern and offset would be different from front wheels!!!
  19. Hahaha i like to believe the rumor that lotus was helping toyota develop a twin cam but then shit went down and they pulled out hahaha. If only lotus or cozzie were so easy to come by haha yup was horrible, started to become to baffling, ended up getting Volts in Rotorua to do it, good guys, good price
  20. Haha it is indeed. Finally got round to getting an image host!! Nah just used a normal spray gun with the flake mixed with clear, sprayed it on. turned out rough as shit so then after it dried wiped it down and put over another clear coat, fixed it up good. haha cheers cant wait to drive properly
  21. So just waiting for uni to finish so I can go home and take it in for a cert!!! Before I do that i might look at putting disc brakes at the rear, possibly depending on cost. Also I want to have a go at rebuilding the steering box. So if anyone has a spare mk1 or mk2 steering box spare going cheap PM me please Hopefully have warrant, cert and reg it december sometime!!!
  22. So Iv got the driveshaft in and everything is back together. I'm running the standard master cylinder because all the ones I tried wouldn't work. I'm looking at putting discs at the rear before I got for a cert but not to sure yet. In bed on night I could hear banging round on the deck, look out side and find this trying to get inside hhahah dumb possums!!!
  23. New Parts are always exciting. Recond Ball joint 3 new tie rod ends And some new Bushes. Wanted to get the from the MK1 site but found a place in NZ. Ordered on monday and they turned up on tuesday (cheers http://www.enford.co.nz). Hopefully this will tighten things up a bit. I'm also looking at having a double sway bar set up. just brought a second sway bar and blocks but havent fitted yet
  24. Also got some photos of interior. Back seat is out of a GTE, just fits in. Its looks real bulky and snug and is nice because it has the arm rest. Got a big blue gum cut down at home so there are some pics of the car posing in front of it I'm wanting to get some ford centre caps for the superlights but havent managed to track any down yet!!!
  25. it drives hahaha. Still very rough, no brakes really but still starting and driving is a great starting point. -Got the g-box x-member put in (bolted through the floor) -Driveshaft in -Brakes bleed (although not working properly,so need major figuring out, m/c not sending any fluid down to the back brakes!!!) - Air filter connected up -extractors cut down and exhaust welded up. So all in all happy with the progress made. I think I might chance the master cylinder again but we shall see. Really really happy with how the car sounds, engine still needs a tune but you can tell it will purr nicely. What do you think of the ford badge on the grill, a keeper or scrape it???
