  1. Have had my fun with this shell, now parting out to move onto something else. All body parts available
  2. I really like the 130 headlight swap!
  3. Have been tinkering away on small things here and there. Purchased this pretty cool Italian made grant steering wheel off trademe and had my friend Barnaby spin up an adapter to fit the nardi 6 bolt boss kit. i think it matches the interior a bit better than the shiny gold peyton which has been retired to my daily, I quite like the off centre stitching join I then found a piece ive been looking for for quite some time, the illusive centre console hinge intact!! This has always bugged me as the lid always flies off mid drift and it looks too ugly with the lid just taken off. Very stoked! I I then Bought a 180sx strut brace from a friend who was stripping a fresh import, unbolted the ends and fixed them to the strut towers for a measure up I then dropped off the cross bar for the steel surgeon to shorten along with my pair of cross fevers to split, i think i went around 5mm shorter eye-eye as the ends have an adjustment thread. Managed to keep the Fet Sports sticker intact for maximum steeze points The ends will receive the same black engine enamel as the intake manifold. There is around 10mm clearance to the intake, i guess ill just have to see if the engine hits next time i hit the track. Hopefully this offers a bit of rigidity to the 301,000kms chassis Next mission- Mounting these bloody seats. I spent a lot more time on this than i would have liked to but got there in the end Basically the generic nzkw L brackets wont allow a direct fitment onto my standard rails/sliders without an adapter plate which i then attempted to make from some 6mm flat bar like so: I went to move onto the next step of mounting the brackets to the cross bars when i figured out, the sliding mechanism is directly in the way of where my bolts need to go and is protruding above the 6mm plate not allowing the bracket to sit flat without spacing. This lead to doing what i should have initially done and ditching the sliders. I drilled all the rivet? type things holding the sliders to the mounting points and bolted the 6mm flat bar directly to them like so repeated the process for all 8 mounting points and then fitted the L brackets For all of these i have used m8 bolts with nylock nuts and washers but there is a total of 12 per seat to go wrong, am I better to now weld these in place and ditch these bolts? The end result is a slightly more social environment, next i would like to get the cassete deck up and running with some speakers! Check out the matching helmets i scored from trademe as well! Thanks for viewing. Here is the discussion link to let me know if these m8 bolts will result in death m8s //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/50005-jesses-1981-corona-mark-ii-grande-discussion/?hl=gx61#entry1628191
  4. Hey man, unsure if this is relevant to you but have you checked you have the engine mounts on the correct sides as there is a driver's side and passenger side and if they are the wrong way around the engine sits too far forward (with jz-g mounts anyway) Edit:ignore, have just read above it can't go back any further
  5. So the parts which i purchased off Ebay arrived this week. Looks to be quite a few useful parts like crank seals, some of the pull start, an exhaust manifold, new ignition system and flywheel, air filter, choke cable. I went up to scootling and took a few snaps of the sachs bike with the rotary conversion using the same engine Peeking inside this cover it had a belt drive from the engine to a pulley with a cog next to it driving the chain to the back wheel. Interestingly it runs the original carb and even more interestingly there is a company sticker with a phone number who I'm guessing crafted this weapon! Safe to say enthusiasm is running very high!! Returned home to have a look at the carb to find that the actual throttle butterfly is jammed close and what i thought was the control for it was actually the governor. A bit of persuasion back and forth and it moves freely so i bolt it back on with the throttle quarter open and have another crack at firing it up. Earmuffs for my earmuffs is an understatement, half an hour later and my ears are still ringing and the neighbors dogs are still barking...No video because i was busy shitting my pants trying to find a way to shut it down. I then removed the original kickstart from the chassis and sat the engine in to see how much room i have to work with
  6. Forgive my ignorance but are these 2 stroke compatible? If I can find one with matching throttle cable it will be ideal
  7. Cool idea, thanks for sharing! There is quite a bit of room in there, a friend has sent me a couple of photos of a local Sachs bike with a rotary with a cvt gearbox conversion so i may try get into the Scootling store to have a look at that for ideas as well
  8. She's a runner! Managed to get the rotary started Saturday morning with a battery drill and some fuel, carb possibly needs attention as it seemed to be over fueling a bit and pissing out the front of carb
  9. Won an auction from trademe last sunday for a km48 160cc 8hp rotary, thanks to Chris R for OS freighting it to me yesterday! It's missing the pull start and has a geabox attached with a hole blown out of it but apparently was a good runner, ill add fuel this weekend and see if i can fire it up with a drill. I have also won an auction from ebay for a box of km48 NOS goodies which looks to have various pull start parts included. Evil looking exhaust This gearbox leaves me with a number of options as its a direct gear against the gear on the end of the crank its essentialy reversing the output direction. The original engine ran onto a variable belt pulley which on the other end of the shaft had the chain drive to the rear wheel (as pictured below)
  10. fuck. please send me details of owner so i can save her
  11. Have since put all the dash back together and installed the tape deck with detachable face that came in the rx60. Then I spent around 30 hours hiding what wiring i could in the engine bay and painting intake and cam/timing covers. Before during after Then it was time to head to NZDM's day at Meremere. Woops The more i use this car the more i love it! I noticed while loading car on the trailer the evening before that the idler arm ball joint had about 10mm back and forth play.Al_Feinted to the rescue with a last minute spare which i chucked on at Meremere! I managed to brake one of the rear drive CVs at the end of the day but i have a feeling this was due to my laziness as its the one that i noticed had a split boot. There's something exciting and very rewarding in drifting in one of these old sleds especially when it all goes to plan!
  12. Time to get this thing on the ground! 195/45 8j front Getting there Mods that only cost time are good mods Removed the heater and air con unit and have taken this opportunity to Swap the dash over for the tidy one from my previous shell and then swap broken heater vent. Scored a sweet italvolanti horn button from Zebra a while back as well
  13. Yours must be the one I saw on there at beginning of the year which I had recently been searching for again Ben
  14. The sachs rotary engine is one option I'm looking at for a repower if I can't source an original engine from Japan. Which is the one you have?
  15. Found a chin spoiler which I had an aerosol can colour matched to paint. The joys of two tone meaning I had to take the entire boot lid to match rather than usual fuel flap Next pair of wheels soon to recieve the pine treatment, I'll be seeking out another pair of these once these have been made 10j
  16. "The Mitsubishi Silver Pigeon is a series of scooters made in Japan by Mitsubishi between 1946 and 1963. The first was the C-10, based on a scooter imported from the United States by Koujiro Maruyama, which began production at the Nagoya Machinery Works of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Along with the Mizushima three-wheeler pickup truck it represented Mitsubishi's first contributions to the Japanese post-war personal transport boom. The Silver Pigeon's primary competitor was the Fuji Rabbit (and in 1954, the Honda Juno). Motor scooters were so important to the post-war vehicle industry that In May 1948 both a Silver Pigeon and a Rabbit were presented to the Emperor of Japan. The Society of Automotive Engineers of Japan lists the Silver Pigeon C-10 model introduced in 1946 as one of their 240 Landmarks of Japanese Automotive Technology. The Silver Pigeon proved sufficiently successful to remain in production for almost twenty years. Motor Cyclist magazine voted it "best in styling" for three consecutive years in the 1950s, a decade after its introduction, while from 1950 to 1964 it maintained an average 45 percent share of the domestic scooter market.By the time production came to an end in 1963 over 463,000 had been manufactured, with the 1960 C-200 proving the most popular individual model, with almost 38,000 sales" This particular model is a 1960 c76 with a 192 cc four-stroke single cylinder engine. I have owned this for atleast 10 years, I acquired it from a distant relative who passed away, the story goes that he had bought it in an auction and had pulled the engine down for some sort of repair and passed away, unfortunately the engine was left in pieces in a barn which wasn't enclosed near woodhill forest so all the components are either missing or heavily corroded. I've only just had it delivered to where im living for the first time since I've owned it so looking forward to seeing exactly what is there over the next couple of days, if you are able to point me in the direction of a sheet metal wizard to undertake the task of repairing the fairings please feel free to comment!
  17. Thanks bro i saw your post on micheals wheels for sale of your old gx61 mark ii, do you still have? I just live off dominion road in Mt Eden would love to check it out
  18. Zerclass Drift Summer Matsuri was awesome, I only picked up the tools to change wheels and had a lot of fun. I didn't really have time to sort my handbreak so went with out but still managed to get the last half of the track 3 linked in 3rd and a few manjis up the straight. It was really cool to have Levi's gx51 out on the track as well. I would have liked to have drifted on the full set of matching wheels more but had trouble getting the 165/65s to bead on the 9j rim after the first set and didnt feel too comfortable using the aerosol method at the track Here are a few of my favorite photos taken by OS member Barnaby
  19. Seat acquired and installed yesterday in the blistering sun. Have had the motorcycle throttle up and running for a couple of months but haven't taken any photos of the process. I used a cut up bmx handlebar which is bolted to the steering column and used a hole saw on the shroud and had the cable custom made by a brake shop in Mt Eden
