Ym30 came with a brand new radiator with a 30mm thick core vs the 15mm thick km36 one. Also has matching inlet and outlet sizes. I think I just deal with the bottom hose on wrong size and rig up some horrendous pipework. The parts van really has paid for itself. -
Digging this up looking for a bag for bc coilover conversion for front . I've already spent the coin on crack testing and inserts etc so it makes sense to retain it all and swap spring for bag. @cletuswhen you say most of the items from China end up going in the bin is it the quality or is there a vital component they are missing? I've read the recommendations on who to talk to in nz but I like to research as much as possible before bombarding someone with questions over the phone. Ali express has this ae86 kit which would be similar to what I need. Pretty sure my car has same ID rear springs as well. I would like to slowly buy reputable components to undertake this myself.

Not too sure on which dash to use. I think the square one suits the build better but some clown (me) got overspray on it when I was tidying up corrosion around windscreen. There's also the colour difference. The dash is actually the same it's just the speedo surround that differ which is interchangeable and the padded insert on passenger side top. Not shown in the photo is the centre dash mounted digital clock which came in the ym30 which I am actually fizzing for. I distinctly remember daily driving this as a builder trying to wrestle my oversized cellphone out of my short shorts or shouting at the apprentice to see what the time was.- 131 replies

Undertaking the speedo swap into the tachometer dash was a bit of a piss around. Needed to swap the higher km face onto my 169km speedo unit because they are different shape for housing and different needles as well as the ym30 having the left side indicator light there. There were spacers pushing the face out on the km36 dash where the ym30 one had a clear plastic panel to distribute light? Along with this I had to swap the mechanism to reset the trip meter as this is slightly offset between both units. I had to discard the 100km/h chime as the km36 unit didn't have the mechanism built onto speedo. You can see the black plastic spacers either side of the needle. I tried to put the higher km unit back together to go into the km36 housing but I would need to Dremel some of the housing out for the chime mechanism/cbf. Put Back together. Sadly the clear plastic is pretty badly scratched on this one, I would need to heat up the glue to separate the fascia from the plastic which is not a priority at the moment. The km36 housing can sit on the shelf for a rainy day to undertake this. -

I do have a bit of a selection of diff ratios available with the 3.9 that's fitted and 4.1 from the ym30 and the original 4.6

Tachometer dash! Looks like I can swap my old speedo unit in as well to keep the lower kms COOL BOX! Obviously can't run the ice maker without AC connected in my van but a cool placeholder anyhow- 131 replies

Cloth individual seat upgrade which means the flimsy crossbar can go from behind the seats. As well as some luxury brown carpet in place of the brown vinyl. Photos are a bit rough but confident it will clean up nicely -

Scored a parts van via Trademe yesterday It had a few parts I needed to get from Japan so it made sense to buy it, take those parts and part the rest. -

Some more Bridgestone wheels have joined. These are the stage one that would have come with the beetle cap originally. Planing to give these a rebuild and a mild widening perhaps to run an 8/9 stagger for re-certification along with a few other things I would like to revisit. -

Have been working on refinishing the beetle earlier centre caps. They originally have a chrome finish but since they are 40 odd years old the set of 5 were all in various states. I hit them with vht wrinkle black and sanded off the faces of the logo. They look good from far. I did try spraying some silver on some cardboard and pressing them down kind of like a stamp but it made a mess. Lucky there are 5... -

I managed to get a good price on a piece that I've wanted for a while. HKS IPM (Injector pluse monitor) has and adjustable alarm you can set to a specific Injector duty % In short - flashing lights and buzzing sounds. Perfect interior accessory. I'm thinking this will replace either the additional Injector Controller or Boost controller in the glovebox panel. I'm needing to remake the panel as there are a few things I want to change -

Another tomcat added to the collection. This one is a pretty special 9j wheel looking like it's in NOS condition with centre cap attached along with a pretty cool Dunlop slick- 129 replies

Hopefully OK to share in here/it's pretty relevant Recently I purchased an HKS turbo kit listed for kp61 starlet for my small online based parts business. It utilizes the original carb in a direct blow through setup. Seriously considered going back to 5k to use it in the van but luckily someone purchased it before too much thought. Happy to say it will be staying in nz and they have decided to let me restore it for them also. Jordan at Autoparts Vapour Blast has done a great job vapour blasting the flaking wrinkle coat off so I can re-apply for the new owner- 131 replies

Cables tucked away in some sheathing with cloth tape securing the ends. All getting clipped in to the factory mounting points -

Used these wiring diagrams I found online for fuel pump control with carters oil pressure safety switch and for the thermoswitched fan with a manual override. Have also put a manual override allocation on the fuel pump incase there are any issues. Used a couple of powertech 30A pre-made relay circuits with switches and swapped pins around to suit my needs -
