I like turbos.
Dunno why you are confused. Like many manufacturers, Toyota stopped making cool shit around the year 2000. (Sorry Dave, love your echo)
The sw20 turbo mr2 lost about 60 HP and became a convertible with the mr-s. They ceased production of the supra. The Celica was replaced by a pooper with no turbo variant. They had long since stopped making rwd corolla's. Bla bla bla.
Not many reasons for me to stay up to date with current offerings from them.

I just took a look at the Yaris. Had no idea that actually existed. Very freekin cool. I think I like it more than the Corolla.
Love that these cars are even a thing right now.

224kw, 1.6l, 3 cylinder, 4wd, manual.
I'm a Toyota fanboy from way back, had a turbo mr2, turbo supra, turbo soarer, 101 20v Levin and always wanted a gt4 Celica but missed that boat.
This new Corolla is probably the first new car that I have really been interested in. Feels like a return to Toyota putting out really cool shit that could be purchased new/used by normal people.
Anyway, just wanted to share Incase you haven't seen it. I'm in love.

Does ctek rejuvenate mode really work? Or is it just a clever trick to fool us into buying a ctek charger then a new battery?
It works extremely well. I have used it to bring numerous DEAD batteries back to life. The science is interesting and makes sense when ya look into it.
10/10 would bang again.

OK so I was all into this a few years back but with used ATF - I 50/50'd it in my D21 Navara for around 2 years straight out of customers ATF flush machines. Yes I probably should have filtered it - but didnt.
The ute is a 93 TD27 non turb ski, had 160km on the clock and I noticed no difference in power, ease of starting, fuel consumption etc - it was happy days until the fuel pump started leaking. $900 rebuild later and i was like well was it worth it? The fuel pump builder was like "WTF is this guy running this thing on, its all oily as shit in here" but as expected when I asked him, the pump was just original and worn out (shaft etc). So probably wasnt the ATF. Ran it in the Turbo Diesel Terrano (mechanical pump) for a while too - the pump already had a small leak and it didn't get any worse. Had that pump rebuilt about a year later.
I haven't done it since as diesel was at an ok price - Ive got a 44G drum full that's been sealed and sitting for 4 years so I'm thinking if I pump from the middle all the shit will either be at the top or bottom. Would definitely filter it this time. Filtering mechanically with say a hydro pump and filter id say you would want a non bypass filter to make sure you're getting everything, using a micron the same or smaller than your fuel filter would be the go, i've seen filter material you can put over a 205L drum like a sock. Chip oil would be the same, you don't want them chip bits lol.
Ive just remembered the Inter tractor is diesel so might use it in that and report back.
Also a warning - only for the old diesels - alot of vids etc out there with newer stuff really not liking it.
So, question for the chemists out there. Brake fluid eats buna seals, hence why everything in a modern brake system is viton (correct me if I'm wrong here, I just know I needed a seal for bikes clutch and finding a viton one was impossible).
Isn't ATF similar? Id have thought it would have eaten every normal o ring and seal in the diesel system

Just fyi, to remove moisture you could also process the oil using a vacuum chamber to boil the fluid out. This may be easier/faster/safer than heating it.

The bronze bushes wouldn't be very hard to do, bolt the rocker cover on and bore the bearing tunnels oversize, the bearing at the far end has a stake to stop it turning, and the bearing behind the camchain sprocket had a flange, thing munt of been running like that for 30 odd years.
Honda xr200 2valve engines have a steel bush on the end of the cam
How would you set it up though? Only way I can think of is to get a piece of bright bar twice the length of the cam then machine it to fit, clamp it in there with the cover and setup on the bar that protrudes.
Or maybe you could find a few reference surfaces in there and setup to those? Bolt holes and head gasket face?

Nice project. Good cars! We got the wife a hybrid one a year ago, both of us love it. Looks like total nana spec but inside it feels like a sports car and drives like a kart. They ain't all the same tho! Workmate had one that was a miserable thing to drive and unbelievably slow.

So good, wish you had a YouTube series.

Hi @Vintage Grumble how will you set that up for machining? I just can't work out how you'd get it right.
Also, how will you retain the bearings at the driven end?

Yeah well that ctek he listed is available for as cheap as 315 elsewhere.
His price beats that by a fair amount though!

Exactly. Ctek or nothing. No fuss and they actually do what they are supposed to. Plus some good accessories.
There are some good specials around the place too

Lol my bike is around 5.5l per 100 when I'm driving pretty darn nice.
Have heard bikes have a shit coefficient of drag but no idea how that compares with an eco.

yeah boi.
Rego still on hold, replacement chassis bits ready to weld into place, the formed bits of floor ready to weld into place, etc etc.
I have done probably 80% of the rust to date, what remains is ready to go once I can make smoke and dust. The only thing stopping it from being a roller is no diff center- its on the list
Completely undecided on engine now. Sold most of my v8 stuff to fund bike stuff- and the bike stuff has made trying to make a car fast totally irrelevant.

Wow that put it into perspective, look how thin the walls are in that gallery.
The Toyota engine looks tough in comparison
