  2. Did you setup the car with the hilux diff and w55? Do you know what flywheel and clutch is in it? This is poked and i have a manji day at hampton downs next weekend. Car is setup mean. Everything wines like a bitch but i love it. Took it for a epic slide yesterday afterwork. Amazingly predictable, and the powersteering arms on the non-powersteering rack gives it awesome amounts of lock. Who did all the rust repairs? And was it your idea to wood screw the side skirts to the body or the last owners?? Front bumper is going to stay
  3. Project discussion http://www.oldschool.co.nz/phpbb/viewto ... 18&t=26266 Dirty little notchback i picked up in exchange for my 1uz Crown. 4age (bigport, factory 86 motor) Coby headers (poo) Niteparts 4a-W55 Bell W55 Gearbox Hilux Shortened Diff (factory sloppy LSD) HKS Adjustable heignt/dampening suspension TRD Rear springs Monroe Hilux shocks Facelift front bumper/TRD Lip Copy Wheels are borrowed Mean MEAAAAN little car. Absolutely in love. Took the sideskids off, repainted the front bumper black, repainted factory rear bumper which i intend to fit when the weather isnt so terrible. Body is in pretty rough condition asthetically, but rust looks like its been repaired then repainted in por15. Clutch is absolutely poked, but i deal with it. So happy. Will have driving photos after 12th of march from hampton downs.
  4. Keisuke, hes a good dude. Hes bringing over a AE86 very soon. Good photographer, good driver. http://86fighters.wordpress.com/ Anyone get any photos of the dirty ass KE36 wagon that we rolled up in. Matt primer grey, with speaker wire holding down the boot?
  5. Stoked we made it with the boot tied down with speaker wire, and a quick panel and paint first thing this morning in the KE36. First time at 100+ kph in a car that hasnt been on the road since 1990, Excellent first voyage haha.
  6. Margarita hangover ment this small job took me 3 hours, just installing a gauge and swapping over o2... happy new years The old boy has a set of camzilla suction mounts, so might slap one on the side of the crown and take it for a skid for you guys.
  7. Got a new toy today, hopefully have it in the car tomorrow so i can have a fiddle with my megasquirt. Wideband O2, MTX-L Gauge http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 659347.htm
  8. Merry Xmas you greasy barstards
  9. Isnt it rad coming home from a night on the piss and u look at ur beast sitting there and ur like "damn thats badass i made that"
  10. Deloomed engine bay, wired up alternator, filled with powersteering fluid, tidied everything up. Been datalogging the last week trying to nut out this misfire, seems to be the MS recalculating AFR vased on my fucked o2 sensor (0 - volts out haha) so when it sits in closed loop it dances around leaning out and overfuleing back and forth. Will either program closed loop out of the the ecu, or find a replacement o2. Also discovered alternator doesnt charge. Opened it up to test continuity of everything and found slag from where they gas axed the engine out of the car, lots of melted copper windings and black parts. Safe to say its proberly toast. Otherwise car runs great. Really need to sort alternator as radiator fan screams through power keeping the beast cool. Pics: Before: After: Mmm Stainless If anyones interested in buying it, give me a pm. Proberly looking for around $4500 - $5k.
  11. Handbrake would be the biggest annoyance. Ive often looked in my crown thinking of how i could manual it. Its going to suck but its on the cards. Best of luck haha
  12. Fuck yea baby megasquirted! Bit of a missfire, but skids right up to 6500rpm so stoked
  13. Cut down until u get a parrallel face on the wastegate pipe, then get a steam pipe tight radius 90 and face it off on an angle so the direction it points in is in line with where the centre of the dump pipe will be. I tried to draw it in paint but that ended up being a bit of a fail haha.
  14. Got the Megasquirt wired into the car today. Deloomed my loom and threw 70% of my wiring out. Pretty stoked. Cars running rough as guts but i have vacuum leaks for africa. All outputs work great. Using a 12 - 1 skip tooth mod on the crank timing sproket. Will get video of a skid once its running.
  15. I have fixed this problem, it was a broken join on the CPU itself for the referance voltage pin. Took hours of searching and probeing to find it. Have no fixed this problem and all A to Ds run perfect
  16. I live out in the dirty south of auckland, i might take you up on your offer tho and come grab in a couple of weekends time (have a wedding to attend this one). Ill look into running the calibration wizards tonight. Its a pain but im using an old PC with a serial input to do all my shit on, and it has no internet connection so i have to unplug my computer to do any MS shit, then plug it back in to surf the net and research some junk.
  17. So ive seen a bit of chit chat on these forums about Megasquirts so i thought id throw my problem out there. I have a MS-II V3 board, loaded with MSExtra 2.1.0d. Got a homebrew stimulator i built got it all going and my air temp, water temp are sitting on 170degrees, MAP sensor is maxed out at 250kpa, and tps is on 100% regardless of what i do with my Potentiametres. There is documentation stating that the above errors relate to a short either on the stimulator or the board itself. However tracing everything i couldnt find any shorts on the board or my stim. All sensor pots have a common ground with the ecu and pin 19 (like states on MS docs) and when i adjust all my sensors i get a voltage change across the pins. I even traced back to the CPU itself and across the inputs on the CPU i can change the voltage on my temp sensors on tps (from 0 - 5volts depending on position of POT) and i can change my MAP sensor voltage from 1.1volts to 3.3volts with a siringe and a rubber hose. This to me would seem that the boards dont have any shorts but something is going on elsewhere. Has anyone else had issues like this when first setting up there MS?
  18. Paint is absolute sex. You bought this car off stuart aye? that crown is utterly inspirational. Id love a g120 over the 130 i have but alas the winds of fate have delt me the hand i have now.
  19. 14 x 7, giz? as in giz themz to you? haha
  20. Spent the arvo polishing, lots of sandpaper, not bad for $270 wheels.
  21. Yea i spent yesterday and bit the bullet and wired up the autobox factory, and hooked up the speed sensors and got no change in results. Hooked up traction control too. I finished my megasquirts basic board, just building a second VR input and injector driver circuit for it. If i get no results ill just use that. Id be stoked to get a hold of a factory crown 1uz ecu but those are $$$
  22. Traction control is disconnected. And i am running a UCF10 ECU which means the auto trans and ecu are in one box. The check engine light isnt working atm so need to sort that first and try run some check codes. The gearbox speed sensor should be connected to the ecu at the moment. But even so the engine should free rev up to redline.
  23. Finished the exhaust, old rusty 3 inch from the headers back to the diff. Then stainless out. Sounds sexual. Have fitted an alloy radiator, tig welded stainless waterlines, and tig welded a new intake pipe and made an adaptor plate for my air filter. Driven it a bunch of times and have discovered a terrible problem. Car revs and goes hard from 0 - 3000rpm, then it hits a soft limiter. Also when i open it up on wide open throttle it just shits itself at any rpm. But ease on the pedal and she cruises happily up to 130kmh in 3rd (on a 4 gear auto). Getting there but i wouldnt deem it road ready yet. Pictures:
  24. I have the shift sequence, have made relays so that power to one solenoid doesnt backfeed into the other when selecting gears. Also selection for D has no output which means a switch needs to close to engage a solenoid when there is no output from the selector. 2 way relay fixes this problem.
  25. Cheers guys, pretty much put everything into perspective for me. I intended to manually shift the gearbox, with the selectors waterfalling a relay board to engage the correct solenoids for the correct gears. I was hoping to have lockup in maybe 2nd for more skid action as well. Long term id like to manual the car, i can afford to do it now but would prefer to get it on the road, certed, legitamised then see how much cash i have left over.
