  1. Yeah, I think I got the pieces in the right place haha. Bit of a jigsa puzzle. Haha nah kk, I'm not even sure if I will use it. I'll decide in the winter if I'm bored. It's not very exciting, you're all going to be pretty disappointed
  2. Haha cheers. In all honesty, I haven't really driven it much lately, only really across town when we moved house. I did replace the rocker cover gasket and the timing cover gasket and it seems to be pretty sweet. Well it hasnt been leaking puddles on my garage floor anyways. Really keen to get this up to summer cruising standard. Taking it for a WOF on Friday.
  3. Other notable things done: Coated the sills and roof cavities in Cavity wax. Bought a couple of these cans and a long extension hose thingy, got pretty good coverage I reckon. Also, sprayed some of my schoolbus yellow underneath where the kick panels go. Was a bit of surface rust going on, there was some primer there which the rust was starting to peek through.
  4. Would have liked to get more coverage with the underfelt but I ran out. Underfelt is actually only stuck down with the re-stickable ados stuff. Worked well and wont make it a bitch of a job if I ever have to pull it up. Carpets yay!!!! Not glued in yet, plan on just leaving it as is for a while might glue them in later if I can be bothered. Pretty happy. The carpets are actually for a sedan but I think they'll cover what they need to.
  5. So I spent the entire weekend working on the car among other garage related activities. It is super awesome having a decent garage to work in... that is sheltered and doesnt leak water. Soundproofing in (wow that took a lot longer then I thought it would):
  6. lol, you'll find out sooner or later... edit: heres a teaser...forced induction may be involved...
  7. Yeah, was keeping an eye on the supercheap and repco catalogues waiting for one to come on special and a couple weeks ago it happened. Was like $260, (35% off) so cant complain really, even though its not top of the line it has a 12 month warranty. And the only thing that can really go wrong with it (that I cant fix) is the ram anyway which you can get replacements for. Will just sell it for a minor loss when I am done with it
  8. I know it looks vomtastic but I am not bothered. I also have a secret, see below..... oh boy now I really am balls deep in this moneypit This is OS best practise of moving a pallet, right?
  9. So incase it is unclear, the following has been done to the above areas: Grind back/cut out rust Weld in patches/fill holes Grind back Fill cavities with ZInc spray where possible Epoxy Etch Prime Primer Body FIller Sand PrimerFiller Sand PrimerFiller Sand So it was sitting in primer for a while and I was reasonably pleased with how it was looking, we are shifting house and due to various reasons I felt I had to topcoat it with something. Currently dont have a compressor and cant be bothered with all that hoo-hah right now, so I am limited to spray cans. Now for some strange reason, mustard isn't a standard choice so I went with darkish yellow. I did consider going with dark grey, so it looks like its a work in progress which may have been the better option but oh well, may spray over the top at some point. It looks suitably disturbing. It wont stay like this forever, so meh..
  10. Righto. Has been literally 6 weeks worth of questionable weather down here. Rain, wind, cold temperatures. Though in the last couple weeks it has been bearable so have chipped away at it a bit more. Although not perfect, considering some of the completexity of the rooflines I am pretty pleased with how it has turned out. Some parts I will revisit when I can be bothered but now is not that time. Also, have fixed the oil leaks! I think the fuel pump is going to need some attention and unfortunately the spare one was pillaged off the spare engine.
  11. Standard weight 770kg Rotary probably pretty similar weight to standard engine, maybe a little lighter(?) but similar with heavier box. + 0kg Magnum diff + 20kg Heavier wheels + 10kg Heaver disc/brakes +10kg that makes my guess 810kg
  12. sweet. Not too bothered actually, prob just hold on to it for a while otherwise. Seats in the skyline are so comfortable I may swap them out into the laurel (those c33 seats argue with my sciatic nerve big time).
  13. apparently the CA18i engine is completely different to a CA18DE, doesnt even share the same mounts etc. Bad form Nissan, bad bad form.
  14. ok, I just went to go see it. Gonna buy it next week some time. Yep it is the one with black wing mirrors... with a 2nd mirror bolted to the top of each one haha It was used by a driving school in Japan, they are the only NZ owners. Its a manual CA18i engine. Wierdballz.
  15. This is all assuming the Laurel deal goes ahead though. Why I always doublepost? Brain too slow fingers too quick.
  16. yeah, rings a bell... its been a while since I've seen it. But I think it possibly has wing mirror extensions on it or something? Or they are just black weirdness. /i'd rather have a sunny. If you not keen on goon then i'll just park it by mitre10. Not totally looking forward to dealing with people in the slightly-more-then-wrecker-value price bracket though...hah
  17. yessir. You might have seen it bowling round, its white.
  18. I know its a bit gay and D1 stz but its a mean example and would make a very fine daily.
  19. Nothing very exciting, but about 6 months ago I was yarning to an old fella about his factory manual CA18 Nissan Laurel and mentioned if he ever wanted to sell it i'd probably be interested. Gave him my business card. Guess who called me today.... his wife (they are both retired) wants to upgrade, and the dealers are offering peanuts for trade in... so he wondered if I would buy it for slightly more then peanuts. Im gonna go see him on Friday haha. They are 1st NZ owners, and its got 150km on the clock.
  20. its all gooood wont require one for a few weeks. BTW, it is looking likely I will purchase another steed this weekend, so the skyline goon will probably be up for grabs, if you were still perhaps interested?
  21. I also do not have one but also may buy one in the future. What are the odds one of your guys engine hoists are available for borrow some time in the not so distant future?
  22. Sweet sounds cool. I'd be keen, im pretty sure kyteler would be keen too. Might serve as some motivation to get one of his fleet sorted
  23. According to NZTA suspension modification that involves modification of bumpstops would need a cert. But in saying that probably every second car on this forum has trimmed bumpstops and for the most part no issues when it comes to WOF time. BTW, you are talking like the bumpstops are part of the travelling suspension. I dont think they were ever intended to be used this way, they are simply to a last resort to stop metal on metal action. Sounds like you need stiffer springs/shocks if you are riding around on the bumpstops all the time.
