Yea it gets heaps of looks - good and bad - most will verbally comment - yea ive heard that about the turbo but ive been on nissandiesel forum and its only if you run big boost - i just want the mean turbo whine exhaust note they seem to get.
Will hopefully have the 28 in next week going well.

Posted: Sun Oct 14, 2012 7:17 pm
Picked this up a few months ago - has been a great buy so far - cheap to run and reliable so far.
Is pretty different (ugly) but i like it - DJZ has some standard R30 rectangle headlights etc for it as the grill is broken and i dont like the Quad rounds. Looks pretty funny in the engine bay but its all factory - could easy do a LD28 conversion thou and give it some more grunt - Would increase HP from 67 (less than an a12) to 91 or could try a turbo on there.
Has already done a mission to Masterton and back with a car trailer on and my mission today to Greymouth and back.
Going to throw some wheels on it and a bit of low (johns XR4's only for show).
So far i have change the dif gearbox and engine oil and filter - and had to replace the clutch master and slave cylinders aswell as replace the rear shoes and cylinders.
Needs a couple things for a WOF which ran out today so hopefully can get that done for Akaroa.

Yes - finally LD28 Power - came out of a VB commy i picked up from Burnham - runs well gearbox jammed in gear but i have another one - plan is to swap out motor and box once the 120y is going again over Xmas hopefully.
This will increase HP by 50% or 32hp haha and loads more "talks" and im looking for l20et exhaust manifolds for more fun later on.
Time for uprated springs and shocks in the back me thinks - still gets to 80kph ok with this trailer and commy lump on the back. LD28 will mean i can push 90 haha
Also different wheels on back for towing (commercial tyres) so i dont get a blow out.

Heres how i roll atm - im all for the small wheel huge tyre look?? especially diesel - standard is meant to be 185/70r14 but thanks to the commodore i got a sweet set of 205/70r14.
Even with the huge tyres the speedo is still reading fast so ill have to change that.

Coupe is gone?!
Interest now minimised.
Wagons are way cooler IMO - coupe had bent roof and pillers (kids must have used as trampoline) - and had been sitting in paddock on its floor for the last dont know how many years - so floor inner and outer sills were gone - started cutting rear guards off but just made a bog cloud everywhere - If i wanted a coupe id just bring one back from AUS as would be cheaper in the end.
On the upside its going to save the wagon - extra / spare panels are always good - ill get a pic up of the ubber cool steering wheel too.
-
Was thinking screaming a12 as there is a block under the bench - just an insane 9000rpm revver on twins.
(also coupe is gone - i cut the front off and scrapped the rest of it as was too far gone/bent so just the wags left)
Its transverse leaf with double a arm in the front so easy camber adjust when max low and drum all round.

I brought these the two 1000's that were advertised on nzdatsun.com, as i have a wagon fiend at the mo. The Wagon rusty but fairly complete no engine but has the gearbox etc.
The coupe was a bare shell with heaps of rust - so i attacked it with the grinder and cut off the front from the firewall foward (wagon has a multitude of patches in the front rails etc),also kept the bonnet and doors and guard for repairs to the wagon. THE REST OF THE COUPE IS GONE.
The coupe was missing too much and so far ive only found door cards and taillights for it - no running gear at all and extreme case of rust.
Plan for the Wags is to fix her up and get her back on the road (its on hold) - im really enjoying doing all these fix up and get roadworthy jobs i seem to be getting atm or im probably just a sucker for punishment and cant refuse an offer.
My great panel-beating friend want to get this on the road asap so after the wedding in feb 2013 will get cracking.
Also to all the Datsun Community that were giving me jit about it, the Kadett has now gone, to Auckland ( what an experience to put that in the back of a furniture truck using my ramps and no brakes. :burnout: :burnout: :burnout:
Big thanks to Greg (datto_610) for helping move the wagon
Also 3 of these rims for sale good for trailer or skids on trade me atm - they are Sampson Engineering Australia - Magnum Turbo 12x5" 4x114.3 stud -

Also remember guys, that all tyre sizing measurements are nominal from each manufacturer
EG Dunlop may measure their width from the outside sidewall edges of the tyre and bridgestone may measure from the tread edge (not including the "boldge").
To give a "real life" situation i had yoko AD07's on the Y 195/50r15's and now have Bridgestone RE11's - the Bridgestones are far wider than the yokos - i would say roughly 15-20mm and measure almost 210 across and they rub a little.
Also Chris (CUL8R) and I had 4 different brand tyres the same size on our Space Wasters and they all had different amount of stretch.
Food for thought.

Really need a track car, probably a BTCC style racer, Accord because its the cheapest/easiest, Corona would be next
I Know both the guys that own the 2 of these in NZ
The Guy I know well took me out to the car - among other cool toys - its an ex Thompson and then Ex Crompton accord - got to sit in it (after 3 attempts to get in he told me how to, damn those Bathurst dudes make it easy) No wonder they crashed into each other all the time I coudnt see over the dash let alone see the bonnet.
Also all bolt on panels are factory so heavy bonnet boot doors and guards - which i didnt know previous.
Id love his garage as he also has Genuine Richards JPS 635 which he cant race as it still has the original Alloy Cage.
-
Awesome - love oldschool radios etc - man didnt thing the original mirrors went for that much - ive got some similar ones aswell.
-
John (SKDMRX) on the datsun site has the most Awesome ist of 330's with a VH41 V8 - Much wider than a 1uz (lots of work) - im definitely 1UZing Lisas 230 Wags
Heres the link to Johns for all you piners - so much custom - including independent rear end, custom front end and bags all round
-
Y not cross breed?? putting an sr in is like grandma grandson material anyway
Id be going 1UZ with hilux box, like im going to for the 230 wags and Bang it of the limiter all day everyday.
Should be easy fit too.

Well after much pressure from KK im posting up some pics of Lisa's long term 240c Wagon project and her 260C sedan. Got the wagon a few months back and just recently got the sedan.
A few Datsun club members no of or have seen these two already.
I know, I know no more projects, this wagon needs lots of work but is worth it i this as they are very rare in nz
240c Wagon - (dead rego)
The day we got it home
Bit of wash down
no worries on the dash - still got the mint black one from the 230 260C derby car.
Lots of boot space as folds fully flat
Cool dickey seat in the back - you need short legs.
Lisas soon to be daily when Wal has an attack on her. - needs sill ends and bottoms of 3 doors.
This has an exceptional interior - the main reason i brought it.
I got our head Mechanic "Odie" in to do a 20 point safety check - you have to know how to speak purr.
He found the heater tap has been bypassed - good boy
"mmm no oil leaks here
-
Rust work is done - come up really good with a matched spray can job!!
Special thanks to Hamish (mush) for all the hard work and for teaching me a few things aswell.
Just need to let the paint go off then a quick buff up - be good as new.
-
Love the airbagged wheelbarrow - saw a slammed shopping trolley the other day too.

Hers a vid, Getting sum mean D1, look for the rubber marks
And every1 rolling out at the start

Lasted around 25 laps on the saturday of blossom metting 2010 and was blisteringly quick ina straight line, no traction out of low speed corners, then the damn this siezed - i knew i should have stopped and checked the plugs - was only slight nip up and had almost detonated a hole though piston #2.
after taking heads and barrells off on sat night found other barrell was cracked in two places umong other things. have spare barrells but now on hunt for another engine as a standard one will be more reliable. and the ports on it have been opened up soo much the walls are paper thin.
there was around 30 vintage karts for the lunchtime display for both sat and sunday somecoming as far as chch. Haad an absolute ball and will keep hold of this as people were trying to buy it all week end as they new or new of the kart and original owner.
Such a variety of Karts 2 with some running McCullocks or 2 on some karts with one or more (up to 3) carbies on each motor (the thing they got up to in the day).
Dads McCullock went strong and even Brendan (Mint16) had a run on sunday and is now trying to find one of his own ex race vintage karts.
Will put up more vids as i get them loaded up.
Heres Brendan McEwan (mint16 on datsun forum) in dads kart

I raced Karts in Hawkes Bay for 9 years from when i was 9 - won 5 Hawkes Bay titles = numerous other events etc. We then sold up and i brought a TE71 corolla which we caged, race seats harnesses etc and used at the Car club for 3 years.
After becoming a courier driver and buying a house the courier thing basically made me broke and had to sell up.
Then brought into this,
Yet another project - have co owned this beast for about 6 years - was going well until someone blew the bottom end. just getting the wiring and such sorted then we are go again.
Was used in the 80's as a Super car Build for going fast at circuits such as Pukekoe and Manfield.
Was told it used to do over 230kph - by old driver.
Is quite rare now days being twin cylinder - most are single - Is a Yamaha 250cc 2 stroke.
Heres a few things about it
Thought id upload all my projects - this post is from a while ago - to all you old school rollers out there
Is a Yamaha 250cc 2 stroke.
5 speed box
Disc Brakes all round
Side pod is actually the fuel tank - Scary if you had someone drill you in the side :fire:
Seating position is on a queer angle due to engine width.
Used to run Methanol -but the carbs were obviously to big and we put 250cc yamy carbs on.
Fuel pump looks like a datto one and works of a cam on the rear axle - IE if your not moving you'll run outta gas.
Ive drivin it a couple of times - trys to lift front wheels off the ground and three wheels (front off the deck) round most corners on a sprint circut.
Ill update this wheel ive got it running and take some vids
-
Def angled guards for win - wof guy may not throw you out but the cops will on your "tyre being outside the guard" - albeit the lower half of the tyre.
Guards look like they will sit lower if angled too??
Decent effort for time allowed though.

Bit of an update - finished the steel work - Hamish is coming back either tomorrow or during the week to sand back the surface filler and blow some paint on.
So stoked with how its coming up.
Bit of a tip out back atm - wrecked out a 260c sedan and a z32 300ZX - starting to dislike stripping cars and liking getting rusty / unloved ones and putting them back on the road.

BNT do a water based degresser - its pink comes in 4l or 20l - 4l is about 22+ from memory - i use full strength in engine bays engines, oil on the concrete etc, great on alloy etc, leave on for as long as you can without letting it dry, eg keep spraying more on every 5 mins for like 15-20 mins then hit it with the water blaster or steam cleaner.
And yip you can even water it down and use it as spray and wipe round the house - most people crack up when im cleaning the bench down with a crc spray botlle
Also steam cleaning just rips most shit off by itself like a boss.
