  1. It's been awhile since i last updated, I managed to get a fair bit done over the holiadays. My mate Phil came over and wired the sr up for me, It was pritty sweet the thing starter first pop. Next job was sorting my exhaust out, So Phil and i cut up so pipes and came up with these. I havn't welded them up yet.
  2. Got abit sorted this weekend. Got the new gearbox cross member made. I made it out of 40mm by 10mm flat bar. It mount to the floor via two 3mm sandwich plates. Cutting the tunnel out made it real easy to work on. It's alot easier to cut out the orginal gearbox mounts out on the garage floor than on your back under the car. Also got 90% of the tunnel welded into place.
  3. Just got a s15 ecu off trademe for $10 so just need a s15 airflow meter
  4. Here's a pic of my engine with manifold's welded
  5. Here's a few pic's of my inlet manifold, and some trumpets ive made up. I made a another buck up to form this backing plate. Milled the flange out took me a few hours, The hole manifold only owes me $50 bucks in materials, but when i add up all the hours it isn't that cheep. The plenum is just sitting on there at the moe, i havn't finished welding the runners to the flange yet and i need to weld the inside of the plenum and grind the exterior weld off. Il get some pic's of the backing plate buck up at some stage.
  6. Cheers for your concern, it's been a while since ive thought about it. I was going to use a cd20 crankshaft and stroke it maybe run 4g63 rods. I think i was going to use the ca girdle, It's been so long ive just about forgoten the combo i was going to use
  7. That tig is my mate's, i use the tig at work mostly, I just used that for welding a few bit's in the rear end, so i havn't used al hell of alot. It wasn't to bad, Cheers guys for the feedback!
  8. Cheers man, when you dont have alot of cash, you've gota make stuff
  9. Ive run out of cash to buy part's for my rear end so iv been working on my inlet manifold. Here's a picture of the plenum i have made. I have pressed out two halfs and welded them together, Here's a some pic's of the buck, aka former. And the outer mould's these's took quite a few hour's to make. But now it only takes two hours to make a plenum, so that pritty sweet. If anyone want's to buy one let me know, im probally gona sell them for $200. Just to get back some of my materials money. This is the first one off the press so hopefully they will get better.
  10. I run a honda starter out of a mid 80's honda civic. But i also run a 4speed. So if the bolt pattern is the same on your 5speed box you could use one. There's a small amount of machining needed on the starter and a adapter plate though. And i also don't know how much smaller it is compared to your orginal. Maybe worth investigating.
  11. This is coming together sweet, You seem to be a man of many tallents, Look forward to seeing it finished.
  12. Here's some picture's of my cylinder head it's finally finished, ive shimless tappet converted it so no more heavy hydraulic lifters and had the cam's reground at Kelford camtech, the cam's arnt very agressive as im wanting midrange tourqe, this is why iv done the variable cam conversion. Im running PEP stainless valve's the exhaust are a fair bit bigger than the factory by a coulple of mm. The inlets are also bigger. Iv welded between the exhaust valves if you look closerly you will notice a small ridge running between them. This helps low lift flow. The porting was all done by my work mate Allan, He's a porting artist as you can see, he's been fine tuning his technique for about eight years now. He's managed to get 285cfm at 500thou lift on the inlet and 190cfm at 500thou lift from the exhaust. This is a significant gain on standard and give's SR20 heads a run for there money that Allan's ported. Here's a picture of a trumpet former i made, il use this to make trumpets for my inlet manifold. It made to trumpet 2inch alloy pipe
  13. This is the diff mounted This is how the tyre will sit in wheel
  14. This is where the hilux diff will mount Weve started putting sum new rails in, the pic's are a little hard to make out
  15. Havn't been up to much lately, but iv been playing around with some variable cam parts from a RB25, Made a new snout for my orginal cam to accept the variable cam gear. Cut the breather tank off the CA18 tappet cover and welded a 10mm piece of alloy in. The variable cam oil swicth bolts to this. It will need a external oil feed run it, That's if it work's. Also upgraded my link G3 to a link G4 storm thanks to Walter and Phil at NZEFI, They done me a sweet deal, stoked as will be able run launch control and a few other bits and pieces. Here's a picture of my block in the surface grinder at work. Made this for 80bucks but took me a few hours as i made all the flanges Here's a pic of the block surfaced and honed Cut the rear half of the floor out as im putting a four bar rear end in it. Big thanks to my old boy for giving me a hand, it's all his idea actually
  16. Hi im looking for some info on extracters for ford 1600 xflow. I am running a set of coby flows at the moment, which i think is restricting my performance. The coby flows run inch and three eight primary. I havn't measured the primary length, and im guessing the collector would be pritty average being a mass production item, made for resonably unmodified xflows. I have been thinking il run with inch and five eight primarys, maybe stepping up from inch and three eight pipe 75mm off the head flanges for anti reversion and ease for getting bolts done up, because of the puss siamese cylinder 2 and 3 exhaust ports. My 1600 made 120hp at aboat 6000 rpm at the wheels and runs a decent cam 460thou lift close to 300degree duration. Any info would be good. Ive been cheaking some sites out, with plenty of info for Hondas and other popular NA stuff. Cheers
  17. Good shit. Ive been meaning to ask Gaz about the rack conversion, and there's all the info. Im seriously thinking of converting the mk1. If it's half as good as Gaz says it will be worth while, cause my mk1 is all over the road. So cheers Gaz for first hand information.
  18. That exhaust manifold is looking shit hot. Just wondering if your going to put a radius or a trumpet from the runner into the plenum, on the inlet manifold. One of my old work mates is HM70 crazy and i think he's ported heads that have made 180hp on good bottom ends naturally aspirated, so i think you may exceed your expectation with this set up and a good tune. . . . Well done
  19. Sorry to hear aboat your car man. Hope you get a good pay out to cover all your blood sweat and cash.
  20. The Kent turbo was a beast but the more power i wanted out of it, the more japanes parts ended up in it or on it. I have only gestimated that it may of made 200hp or close to it, but with a real tune and a little more development i think it would of made a bit more than that. My main issue was going to be the gear box and clutch with more power. I was always going to be limited at the end of the day by them. But im glad i spent the time to do the Kent turbo and im hoping the guy that bought it is going to get it up and running, ive been keeping eye out.
  21. Thinking of running a different crank aswell, wisco 85mm pistons, prob 4g63 eagle rods
  22. Possiably Mitsubishi 4g63, Yeah should make good torque.
  23. Yeah early cortinas have put a twinkle in my eye for a while now, some say it's a sickness but we know better. Good to see a cortina done to that standard. Im shore you will be reponsable for them becoming more popular. Good shit.
  24. Thought you might say that about the wheels, lol Yeah you could fry a egg on the bonnet. Got abit more info up tonight ,starting to get a little better at typing never done so much. Great minds think alike Ca18 kick arse. Just going to run it std for awhile but i already have just aboat enough parts to start building a CA20det wanting good hp out of it just lacking cash and theres only so much my work account can take. Cheers
