  3. Yeah i had an 82 EX lancer years ago who i sold to an OS member and one of the many things i did on that was a new fuel pump, it's all in much the same place etc. I would do it sooner but flying to Wellington today for xmas.
  4. This is what i like to hear. Will get onto the fuel pump after xmas.
  5. Thanks HellRaizer. Will look into it further after new years. Still keen to do the engine swap within the next 6 months to a year....
  6. Choice as, 22nd Jan I'll be there where ever it ends up been held.
  7. Ok, so the dealer mentioned the ute dropped a little bit of oil. I topped the engine up with some new oil and drive out to Papakura. I get back and within 40min of getting home i go out to check the oil level to see a rather sizable patch of oil on the ground. Not one or two drops but several. The dealer reckoned the leak was coming from around the fuel pump. Does this sound like a plausible explanation? There seems to be alot of oil on that side of the engine anyway so its hard for me to tell exactly where its leaking from. I also noticed that there is a couple of drops at the rear of the engine as well. So i'm thinking possibly upgrade the engine sooner rather than later. Would a SOHC 4g63 bolt straight upto the gearbox and engine mounts or is it not that straight forward? I can't afford to have the it off the road for to long. Would also like to keep the column shift and all that and funds are limited.
  8. Project thread- viewtopic.php?f=17&t=25274 Discuss away folks...
  9. Hi all, Just picked this up today. Probaly payed a little bit more for it than i should have but still got the guy down from a stupidly excessive asking price in my opinion anyway. Its a 1 owner from new jobby, 1600cc 4 speed column shift and appears to next to no rust. Plans at this stage to drive as is for a little bit, aventually get some nicer wider steel rims better tires, lowered a bit and possibly narrow the tray a bit so its all a uniform width the length of the vehicle. Possibly upgrade the engine in a few years to 2 litre or somthing like that but for now i'm happy with it...even the pumping AM sounds... Discuss..... viewtopic.php?f=18&t=25275

  15. Sup ppl, its been effin ages since i posted somthing on here but im looking at getting a project vehicle to have a bit of fun in, you know car club, ss2000 series, bit of rally somthing thats a bit of an alrounder. Im just looking whats out there and thought and oldschool bluebird with a more modern sr range engine dropped in it would be mean. have any of you guys done somthing like this, know what to expect, what im gonna need to change...mounts etc, g/box set up basically any info would be great, even a link to a similar project.... my budget aint big at all so it'll be a long term sorta project over a year i reckon just as another thought is there any engine & g/box combination that would bolt right in with little to no effort..... Im open to suggestions about any other sort of car/engine combinations i should look into. Im looking at starting somthing in the next 3-6 months so at the moment looking at finalising the type of car im gonna start with. would prefer to go old school i find the more modern things boring as hell, and i drive 08 corrolla anyway so im pritty set in the plain boring dept.
  16. theres a place in Porirua called The Surgery, they did a quote for a bit of panel and full respray to new car standard for me, when i asked my mate whos in the trade he said it was a good deal. They had a large variety of cars in the workshop at the time, and theyve done alot of restorations, i also think they specialise in euros aswell.
