  1. He was running the 165s on factory rims on Friday, 360whp 13bt - Came on boost on the straight and lost it.

He swapped the Works on and kept driving it for the weekend after putting in a tonne of work Friday night to get it sorted and reinspected.

He must be gutted, 18 month build and BOOM.

    Feel sorry for him.

My brother's old RX7 is back on trademe again. Visually it hasn't changed at all from what he did to it apart from wheels.

I think those carbon side boards set him back like $1500 about 9 years ago. Looks like engine has been rebuilt a couple of times in the last 10,000 km though. Was still on original everything when he had it.

Love this thing, just needs white TE37s and it would be perfect.

Have finally started ordering parts here & there for my 20B build, but first need to rebuild the Tremec in the Race car as it's making horrible noises.

I can't believe it either really. Beats all the uncerted and even deregd cars. I doubt you could find another Mazda painted in 2009 that has held up to this condition over 10 years. Hard to find another RX-3 or 808 that is this tidy in the flesh, just as hard to find another 808 that is as complete as this one conversion wise. No filters on my photos, straight out the lense. According to the guy that actually built it, it was a 1 owner 808 garaged its whole life before being built. For a fully built car, I don't think my price is unreasonable at all when an orange fresh paint modified rolling shell RX-3 sedan sold for 50k and a standard complete rare JDM model sedan sells for 70k.

Wouldn't be tempted to swap for a 10 second FC would you?

The best cars never see FB or TradeMe as they are sold directly between friends/friends of friends.

Normally if it has to be listed on TradeMe or FB it means none of the sellers friends want it because they know the motor is about to grenade or the poorly done bog jobs is starting to grenade or they all know how many burnouts they have done in it etc so something is about to grenade.

Or they all know the seller is taking the piss with their asking price.

Obviously this isn’t always the case.

But if none of the sellers friends want it, there is normally a reason.

^^^ This, the majority of cars I've bought & sold were through mates, or mates of mates.

Both my of my RX7s were cars I'd had my eyes on for years and when they finally came up for sale I jumped on them.

@SHGWAG just go short crank, prob solved

    Pay more for less?

    That would mean:

Buying a short crank (Selling my E shaft)

Making a custom intake manifold from scratch (Selling my factory intake manifold - I want to stick with this and only the EP for economy and smooth cruising)

    Buying another stud kit

Cheaper to go with a billet fat plate TBH

Anyone have or know anyone who has experience with these billet plates? They're expensive as fuck but just curious of the benefits?

Pretty much covered in the vid between the posts.

However: Factory Mazda fat plates for 20Bs are expensive ($12+k last time I looked), and billet alternatives are well cheaper. (Around $6k)

I'm going to a billet fat plate cause I don't trust the 30yr old original to handle the power I may want in the future.. we all know how Rob Dahms feared..

I'm guessing my Mine's ECU I bought in Japan will have to the speed cut removed come to think of it.  Neat.  Just want to put another tank of 100 through it before I install it.

I have one of those and a Blitz FCD to suit a S6 sitting here doing nothing if anyone needs one.

Also toying up with moving up to a billet center plate for my 20B, so may have a 'B' series fat 20B center for sale soon.

Will post here if I do.

@cletus: Good compression 20Bs go for up around the $10-12k mark these days, depending on condition etc.

    How to rotavan

That's low boost... and he hasn't decided if he will hook up the Nos or not yet..

Ran an 11.7 down Meremere wheelspinning the full track.

Currently undergoing some intake and cooling mods, will be a proper weapon when it's done.

This popped up on my YouTube. Haven't seen this video in a long time. Or the car.

IIRC it was sold as a rolling body, parted out, then sold as a shell - not sure if it ever got rebuilt..

    build a 20B center plate :D

I have one, plus there's a billet by Pac one sitting next to it in the workshop, thought of getting a copy made, but Billet Inc are doing pretty good deals on these days.

PORNRX? if so, thats a mates car - big power set up in it.. Bridgeport Semi PP 480kw

Bevan's car, made that figure on a low reading dyno too.

Told him not to enter the drags cause he'd snap an axle...

2 runs later I'm helping him push it onto the trailer.

Be interesting to see what it runs down meremere once he gets his skill level up, I was running 10.2@136 with 410kw on the same dyno.

I'm now 470wkw, so should be into the 9s easy next season. (Which is well over 500wk on a mainline / HPR's dyno)

    20B query :D

exactly, how thick is the thick plate, the plate with the primary and secondary ports in it etc

I'm guessing 100mm. But need exact measurement

also, any chance of some quality pictures, both faces, both sides, top and bottom views :D

would be very much appreciated :D

have tried to buy a used damaged plate here, but no luck

    @20BRX3

    anyone else help ?

For mock up purposes, the fat plate is the same thickness as a 13b housing.

What are you trying to do?

under 9's in anything you will have enough power to  blow the tyres away from a standstill if you hit it with too much, and it's an internet video so they are going to show the wild passes for entertainment value, I would not say the chassis are particularly worse because of this.

there is a thing esp in the Australian rotary scene for  "untubbed" records so small tyres/ back jacked up to fit what they can, on leaf springs and often with manual transmissions - this type of setup is going to mean wild rides in any chassis typically. e.g. back half car with big tyres is a totally different beast.

also power management systems are still relatively uncommon in most of these setups from what I have seen. vs. a lot of the really fast stuff you might see on 1320video etc. where they have that stuff dialled

    video for thread anyhoo

Jeremy Hewson runs consistent high 8s in his starlet with real twitchyness issues. (Holds the world record for 13b on pump gas if memory serves me correct)

He has a back halved Starlet and it's dialed in well - He won Super Sedan class of the 1st Comp meet at Meremere on the weekend.

Which reminds me, I have a brand new 366SXE, 1.04 rear (I think) with 3.5 inch exhaust outlet, T4 Flange with oil gaskets & V band.

It's sitting in house and it's now too small for my setup. Pee Emm me if anyone's interested. Will piss in over 400wkw on E85, may be able to get that far on pump gas if you know what you're doing. My old 366sx made 417wkw on 20PSI - E85.

Yup, stripped down today. Can see why it had low compression, next to no side seal left. Housings are good, aside from chatter marks. Irons look ok too, but they and the rotors will be measured up tomorrow, and will make a plan from there.

I'm getting rid of my 13B REW out of my FD..

It's stripped down & in good condition, so a seal kit and she's all good to go.

Possibly not of interest to you, but if anyone else wants a complete REW setup in pieces, get at me.

Manifolds, piping, intercooler, turbos, downpipe loom & ecu - everything including HD Excedy clutch - Keeping Powersteering & Aircon ancillaries, however.
