  1. Awesome, some really good info here.. Bubblegoose, could you please explain why you would go through that process instead of just using just a generic cutting compound and wax?
  2. Yup, thats exactly what it turned out like for me when I did it the last time. I think I might use a not so harsh product this time as I have no real scratches this time. I just want to fix the fading. this CRC RE-PO stuff I used has extra cut polish (red tin) and normal polish (blue tin) it says to use the normal polish on new cars and clear coates ect. So that 3M stuff isint so harsh as what I used? If not I might get some of that, or maybe try some first if I could? I really dont want to waste any more money or ruin my paint so I dont know weather to go with what I used the last time or just a less harsh polish? Ive got some wax so I'll wax it ever now and then so hopefully I dont get this problem again
  3. Yeah, that patchy stuff just came up after I took it through the car wash so I'm guessing its just leftover wax.. rubbed off real easy when I first noticed it but now it dosnt come off too easily.. washing the car made it a little better but its still there as you can see in the pics. I'm not worried about that white spot as its only tiny. I might not use the stuff I used last time after reading this as its a cream and might be a bit harsh? But it did come up really great last time. Might try some liquid stuff I have called Re-Po Paint Doctor, or the warehouse has this CRC stuff which comes in 2 bottles, one cuts and shines it up I think and the other polishes and waxes. You apply them in a step 1 and 2 process. I have really no idea what to look for when it comes to good rubbing compounds, I'm only mentioning this CRC stuff ect because I work at the warehouse and get discount.. I have access to a buffer too so thats not a problem but I'm worried about going through the paint while using a buffer? I got told to only use for waxing? What was the stuff called you're talking about Fuel? Thanks for all your advice! Better to be safe than sorry!
  4. OK, so I took some pics and uploaded them. These are the patches I was talking about which happened after I took it through the car wash.. And this is the white spot I talked about:
  5. Yup, I'll take some photos for ya. As for using that CRC stuff, the paint came up mint last time I used it and the paint is just getting lighter and lighter on the side thats always in the sun over time so gonna see if I can fix it up as I never waxed it the last time which I really should have done!
  6. So you guyys are mentioning a re spray, do you mean a full respray or just polish it up again and get a clear sprayed on?
  7. It was in this condition last time I did it I think and it turned out really nice. Most of the white crap is residue from when I took it through car wash and it just wont come off, but it comes off if I rub with my finger.. There is a small white spot on my bonnet that definitly didnt come off last time and it might ave got slightly bigger, I'm assuming thats what you're talking about? The white spots I'm talking about arent white like that.. Just like faded yellow, cant tell unless you look close I bought some wax so I'm gonna make sure I wax it this time
  8. Bought some of that CRC Extra Cut cream polish for my car cause its fading and turning white. I have used it once before and it came up GREAT! Just worried about going through the paint by using it again? Should I be worried? Dont really know much about the details of polishing..
  9. Awesome really REALLY good info! Thanks alot! So the tyres I got are Hankook Centum K702 164/80/R13. Is there any reason why they're slightly bigger diameter to the old ones but they're the same size? (so the tyre shop reckons..)
  10. Thats really good info Ke36, I understand now.. Fthe 1600's I'm sure its 165 as thats what I had on before I got new ones and in my book it also says: 1200EX - 155SR13 1600EX - 165SR13 So now I just need to find out the proper sidewall size..
  11. I know the 165 bit is right because they're the same as the back which are still the old ones but that 80, is that the sidewall size? I'd like to know that if possible.. The book I have is just the book you get with the car and it only says "165SR13" They new ones on the front and the old ones on the back are both 165's but the back ones are quite a bit wider than the front. This just because different brand of tyre? I dont know anything about tyres..
  12. Hey guys I have a Lancer EX with 1600cc 4G32 engine with stock steel wheels. I just got some new tyres put on the front and they're skinnier than the old ones and also I'm sure the sidewall is bigger. The new tyres are 165/80/SR13. I thought from memory the old ones were 165/75/sr13 or something? But I'm not sure.. Does anyone know the standard tyre size for my car?
  13. Yup, that was exactly the way it was done on my car... still wouldnt go on tho..
  14. Just did axel bearing in my lancer. What a pain in the ass!!! Ended up having to cut them off and it wouldnt go on even when heated to like red hot so had to be pressed on. Stupid things

Maybe drive down there on sunday sometime? has to be during the day as I cant drive at night or battery goes flat lol Also I'm in Te Awamutu, Will you hamilton guys be going through there and able to meet me there or do I have to drive to hamilton and back down? lol Will be good if we can sort out exactly whats happening since its so close now.. Edit: Just read other convoy post. I wonder if the auckland guys can meet up with the hamilton guys and go as one big group?
  19. If its the same engine and gearbox as mr car?? I have no idea.. just read somewhere L300 or L200 is the same but I dunno.. 4G32 with 5-speed? In my Lancer the 5-speed gearbox for my 4G32 takes 2 Litres
  20. Next time I'll be there providing I can get some oil! Should really polish it but.. nah.. too much effort

  23. Got a GM556, Car runs like it did before I replaced condenser the first time (jerking/missing wise) but it has no writing on it what so ever so dont know what the specs are.. I just put tape around that extra piece lol. Might just cut it off. Does anyone have a 4G32 out of a Lancer EX and can tell me the condenser rating? would help me alot..
  24. Got a local Mitsi dealer to order the GM556 and should be there monday but it looks like it has an extra wire or something coming off it which this one dosnt have? What is that extra wire bit?
  25. Cool, I'll take it out of the packet before I buy and see Thanks! Makes no difference that mines a belt driven engine?
