  1. I guess this onlt realy applies to my motor. But I need to ditch the std manifold because the desgin is crap. But then it is english. Could get around this and raise the carb to make more torque but the triples looks way better. Plus little or no adjusting once set up. Yes TBI is good way better than carbs but not for me I'm going for the 70s look.
  2. yes but people spent a lot of time replacing bigger carbs. This is cheaper, has bigger throats than a 32/36 plus you get economy and smoother power to boot. So for a budget upgrade its pretty good. Not to mention potential turbo/super charging. I know what your sayingbut on the six three is better than one. Well thats what the dyno says. But yes the power is smooth and yes if I was going for a blower this would be the way to go. As for the triple carb root. Fiat uno are a very good sorce of webber. I got four for $200.

  4. Yeah you would still need a throttle body. mega squirt is only single cycle or some such thing. I'm going triple carbs. Not that that maters to this thread. But for those who want to know on thr dirty old ford V6 triple carbs gives the best results. Big holleys on they suck
  5. Very interseting to see what you've been up to. I looked at injection on my V6 capri not so long ago. This was one of the paths I was going to go down. Another was mega squirt. A DIY system that you can tune from any lap top running windows 95 or better. So old school computers are fine. The only reason I went away from it was a friend pointed out that with TBI isn't a big step forward almost sideways. After all your still using a throttle body. Not wanting to run you down I think this ROCKS. Just wonder what you think.
  6. Twin 45s or 48s for race engine. Couldn't afford side draft plus just as much power from down draft.
  7. I ran a DGAS on my 2L pinto when I raced it. It had suffered alot of head work and ran like a dream. Bolted direct to factory manifold.
  8. Very true the holley will flood the 1600cc every time. They are too big for 3000cc engines. People put them on 3L capris and they a crap. As for the DGAS being cheap. Not realy I don't think. I sold my spare for $200 to a good mate. But if someone wants to sell me one for less I'll take three.
  9. Go the webber you can alawys upgrade it later to the bigger modle from a capri. Not sure of the size but uses the same base as a 32/36. At a guess the holley will be to big.
  10. Nice may have to go the same way in my race car. When it comes to incerts IE light units. Try hella for your inners(high beam) they make a driving light that goes straight in.
  11. Will group 1 valves help that much? EXAMPLE: Friend built up a capri motor to pretty much match a RS3.1 . Trouble is he only did half the research. The heads had huge valves but they where to big. Turns out under the rules that the RS was run under didn't allow any porting but valves where free. But when you port it with valves that big all you get is a set of heads that are flowed wrong. I could be right off the mark on this so if I am disregard it please.

    I always thought there mas a measurement for exaust . For the outlet I mean as In it had to be so many MM from an opening to the passanger cabin or some such BLAH BLAH like that. As for the cobra debate. Think you'll find they where all as the customer wanted. Nothing real factory on them.
  13. Why not get them made it doesn't cost that much. If you know all your sizes cyl head specialist will wack you out a set. I wouldn't dump on burtons for there pricing. What there selling is top of the line. Buying car parts is like buying oats. If you don't mind oats that have been through the horse they are cheaper.

    Sold a copy on trademe about six months ago. That book rocks. I got it when I had a MK2 capri. Never new stuff like the inlet ports are to big.
  16. I don't know why chroming makes them brittle , But I'm pretty sure it's true. I used to work for a company selling chev spares. We did alloy front pullys for small blocks but someone else did chrome. The crome ones used to break. Yes dat you can paint your wheels any colour you like.
  17. Try Repco or BNT there an off the shelf item in nolatahn.
  18. Are these legal? Does anyone know? Please no guess. I've been told these are now illegal due to the process makes the wheels brittle.
  19. Becarefull who you buy your bushs from there is a guy on trade me selling bushs and engine mounts at about double the retail price. He talks them up alot but I think he's full of shit. I worked in out parts for more than 10yrs. For BNT and REPCO I never saw a bush come back. I Use REPCO engine mounts on my V6 which are the same as escourt and cortina mounts. Had no worries with them. This guy was selling them for about 3X what they retail for.
  20. I think you'll find that VC comodor strut tops will fit.
  21. V6 coils are 135mm dia. Not sure on 4cyl ones but I'm pretty sure you'll find the V6 run bigger bearings in the hubs.
  22. Ihear what your saying with your hood colour. I'm doing the same with my ride, but using satin black. Same effect but matt tends to look oxidised and cheapens the look of the car.

    If you want to make your motor fast for less dollars. Try to get hold of the David Vizard book on how to modify the motor. The book is packed with info on what to do and what not to do and why including dyno graphs.
  24. What sort of capri are you talking?? I think you'll find capri ones are slightly shorter. I run mk2 esky inserts in my MK1 capri. If you get V6 ones they take bigger dia springs and have bigger stub axles.
  25. These only came out for one year on the top of the line modles. But when your sporting an eight it has to have them. What about a dirty old trumip 2000 or the like.
