  2. Yea that was a memory and a half, it was flying this meet and was doing mid 10's from memory.
  3. I have bought myself a new Still Camera that can take HD Video. Here is the latest drag meet. My Youtube Cannel http://www.youtube.com/user/202ToranaMan Some Pics http://s1112.photobucket.com/albums/k500/DragManNZ/Drag%20Racing%20Photos/January%202011/ Minchington Brothers have joined the Seven Second Club now! Put it on 720p HuRMqioYAno And here are some of the cars... f61jvauXfF4
  4. Yup it was a bit overdue eh. I really have some work to do now... i want to try and reco the engine and change gearbox in less than 2 weeks.
  5. Just a thought here... If you are getting it shortened by a lot then maybe shop around for longer axles that way they have meat on them where it counts, there are a few different lengths and vehicles, my diff is made from 3 different vehicles, Hiace, Hi-Lux and Supra. If its only a small amount then many people just remove the end off them and don't need to respline. If its in between these 2 scenarios then thats a buggar although as stated earlier welding works well, my mate who has been building racecars for some years has used this method with no failures. When I did mine I was lucky enough to fit it uncut as I found a narrow housing/axles but had to make sure I go the right offset wheels and my Torana which is not wide as its based off a HB Viva. There is a company here with a Jig that welded all the bits on for me to make sure it was lined up which is the most important part.
  6. Well said Andy, I made an appearance for the first time in a while and it was good to see the the range of cars and in particular the Commonwealth had a strong showing which surprised me a little. Anywayz if any of you make it to the drags tomorrow I will be taking my Bimmer out for a test. Cheers
  7. I would have considered this but its Draaaaag racing day 15th unless its the other Saturday... 14th
  8. I hope you muffle the sound to make it sound nice and healthy and not just another loud V8. I really like the look of this model more than any other. Yea that would be my Torry, Rust under the vinyl would be common I would think, depends how bad it is as almost any roof with vinyl from the 80's back probably has surface rust but it would need to be bad to cause concern.
  9. Nice mate I used to own this exact same model and colour back in about '91... Such a cruiser and the sound of the V8 was supurb after I changed to an open side air-cleaner.
  10. I believe the Ford owners club do this every year and invite the Holden boys along. I am keen as mustard for this although I don't have great brakes or a high top speed or sway bars or nada nada nada..... As long as my body has healed enough to handle it after I had a chop job on my back Maybe be a good day in my Bimmer
  11. how about trying some wynns stop smoke?
  12. Circle Track Engineering just came from there today
  13. Looks good alright, shame i never made it in the end to get some pics.
  14. im gonna take the camera but not go in the run

  16. Wouldnt feel too bad about it, that thing was quite rowdy. I liked the fibreglass doors flapping about wildly on the return run Dam straight, totally agree. Last time in Nelson I raced a guy with 400+hp Silvia and I almost had em but he finally got me on the line by 2/1000s and my lil 202 only pokes out about 200 neddies at the wheels but when i went up against an 800hp evo I had him in 1st and 2nd but he just wound it up and gone. Still had fun though. To me Drag racing isn't so much who I can beat but how good I can do for myself and car. I love watching the variety of cars giving it heaps and just seeing what turns up is as much fun sometimes.

never tried drag racing, would you be keen to give me e30 a go at ruapuna on the 13th? (assuming it's the pbdrc event?) Sounds like a go I'll meet you there I may actually take both cars out for a play. No one will notice if I change it after a couple of runs lol as long as i get my arse into gear and get my gearbox in and pass a wof on the Torry.
  18. Well at this stage I have cleared the calendar for this, may drive down Friday and spend a lazy Saturday then drags Sunday and go home Monday. I need to dig out my cert paper by the looks, I put it in a safe place somewhere.

I agree, these are pretty good cars for the price I reckon and I will leave stock as I already have a toy Apparently most if not all NZ new ones had LSD like this one as standard fitment.

I never noticed it but then I don't do skids on the street in it but will try this if I use it on the 13th which is the next Winter drags @barf, I am beginning to think that BMW worked on these and unless I change a major part like cam or port the head then its not worth changing. It was rated at 155kW which is quite a bit less than my 202 powered Torana which I estimate 200-210kW but I love the flexible power and the 5 speed which works well with the soft ride. A cruiser and its quiet even at 100mph(160km/h) 535i with 5-speed Getrag manual transmission: 0–60 mph 7.5 s 1/4 mile @ 15.9 s Top speed: 146 mph (235 km/h), 60-0 mph (97–0 km/h) in 130 feet (40 m)

I went to the recent drags but had a bad day and destroyed the flexi-disc lol I did 16.1@88mph but as it was shuddering and wasn't pulling well so parked it and watched, I will be back to try and match my on road 15.15@95mph via a G-Tech which is 2/10 slower than BMW listed these cars in 1989.
  22. Hmmmm I am going to go out there soon, hopefully we get some racing in eh Its holding off at present with overcast but high cloud with hints of blue sky
  23. If you like I will push you in my Torry.... I did this once to a mate in a 1300 Cortina one night when I was a youngun, and got him up to 95mph The Torry won't be there as I have the gearbox out as it was a loaner close ratio. I am putting my old $80 one back in thats served me for 6 years of racing/thrashing.
  24. I always thought the Victor was a single carb where as the twin carb was the Ventora. Yes I want some pics too. The engines are truck tuff with large bearings and can handle a real thrashing, 80k is hardly anything if its had regular oil changes.
