  1. Is the pump pickup just a sock filter? The subaru ones have a bit of a thing on them as well; Hell is it even an in-tank pump?
  2. On my previous run through the twisty bits, i had my old man in the car and he wouldnt let me corner fast, so i was jusdging the car more on its straight line performance... Now my opinion has changed somewhat. Are the fuel pickups on these things not baffled? I seem to be getting fuel surge even with 15 liters in the tank.
  3. Am i right in thinking you can remove rear seats as long as you also remove the belts? Just wondering what i can take out in terms of weight reduction.
  4. Took this thing through the Waimana gorge today. Ya know what, it displayed remarkable pace by way of outstanding corner manners. Genuinely impressive. Which hasnt really helped my decision making process on what to do with it.
  5. Yeah variable timing and lift on the intake cams. Timing by way of hydraulicly adjusting cam sprockets and variable lift by way of some trick lash adjusters and double cam lobes i believe. 186kw at the wheels on Clints one. More than a factory 2liter turbo STI.
  6. Yeah would probably slam a non turbo 3.0L VTEC into a stripped out one of these
  7. Possibly due to me being so long legged. I cant comfortably hit the pedals because the steering wheel gets in the way. Unlike in my other cars where the seat is positioned much lower. Fuck it, im gonna draw a crude diagram up in hurr Tho its not just seating position, its also down to the distance of the wheel from the firewall/pedals and the height of the dash. A lot of shit comes into play. This discussion is good, no need to lock it down yet.
  8. Oh yeah, you owned one if I remember correctly. How does the 405 compare with the Calibra? Factory driving position is fucking terrible, pedals are really close together and under bonnet design is a bit messy. The Calibra was quicker, maybe not quite as taught in terms of handling and had a tendency to understeer a bit more than the 405. I guess a lot of factors contribute to it, but the end result being the Calibra felt like a quick sporty car to drive and the 405 just doesnt feel the same way. Must give it points for having excellent driving manners. If only it had the power to back them up. I reckon a 4x4 turbo version wouldve been one helluva car. Only if they did the turbo right tho.
  9. Ooooh i do like Calibras..... But nah. Gonna get a Subaru again - or just buy an xbox and play Forza.
  10. So it's now for sale? How much does it owe you? Asking 2k. Might let it go for a little less to an OSGC. I feel bad for giving up so quick but fuck me, its not worth going any further unless im really into it.
  11. Will see if the pug sells, all i want is to recover what i spent thus far then i can try something else. Have also just realised how massively in the shit my bank balance is I dunno...nothing against the car but it just isnt hitting the spot for me. Next adventure will be to shamelessly copy clint because i love his car and it does hit the spot. hqsH3ocGipE
  12. Took for its first road legal thrashing after work......im sorry but this is not a quick car. It makes me sad panda. Not a bad car by any stretch and it does handle very nicely - but i just dont know if its what i want. Im thinking i should go back to my original plan of whamming a flat 6 in a early impreza.
  13. Yeah i think quads would be the main goal. Then i could just run TPSvsRPM and not need a MAF sensor or a reliable MAP reading. Dont know about the 20v boat anchor tho.
  14. Good torque up to about 3k...then a doughy mess untill 4.5k - then a nice pull right to the limit.
  15. Yup will pick up a loom for my G4 and a MAP sensor out of my collection of bits. Or might run a MAF from a Subaru...I still dont know the advantages of MAF or MAP based fueling so will investigate.
  16. This Now has one of these Next mission is to make this run a bit better By removing this horrible restriction And getting rid of some of this Almost feel a little sad to be gutting the interior - but tbh most of it is a bit fucked anyways. It has not aged well.....beige checkers with red stripes really doesnt work in this century.
  17. The one i ran in the hatchback was pretty sweet, Jaycar sell the panel with starter button and ignition switch for about $40.
  18. Im in awe of this thing. Keen to see youtube video of it maiming someone.
  19. The most likely event for you to enter would be road and track or winter series. Both events group cars purely on lap time IIRC. So engine size doesnt matter as much as consistent driving.
  20. Went for a wof and List of things to fix (get ready...its a long depressing read); * Tighten Fan Belt * Replace 1 reversing lamp * Replace LH Rear tire I have a spare lamp and tire in the shed so should be good to go again at lunch time.
  21. Dont spose anyone knows where the grounding points for the rear lights are? Going to rip into that tonight and attempt a wof tomorrow.
