  1. The two shiny ones above aren't mine, they are the other two bikes that were built for the competition... I don't really do shiny The brakes on the orange/cream one with the funky stencilled handlebars are standard 10 speed ones with ally rod hacked into them for the lever, the mount bolts are mazda bongo rear drum adjusters or something odd like that...
  2. the powder that sticks with static electricity basically. If you want threads/holes left alone then you can just put a rubber bung in the hole and the powder will no go in or stick to it. The problem is that that the powder tends to build up against the edges of the metal/bung and you end up with dags. The only thing for this is to not leave edges for the powder to build up in when the bungs are fitted. Masking tape is ok too...
  3. Went out to the garage to the garage to clear this; And found this; And I always though the engine was in the back...? Turns out the steering rack has about a litre of oil in it, and when a rack boot splits it pisses out onto the floor. Going to get it fixed this week and replaced with grease. Grease wont fall out I am guessing....
  4. Bought this on the weekend, needs some loving but will make an awesome commuter/gentlemans ride... Actually if anyone has a sprung Brooks saddle of the right vintage I will take that off your hands.
  5. It is amazingly comfy, did 25kms on the competition day - arse was pristine.
  6. So we had a competition at work to build the most stylish single speed we could, the only rules were steel frame and single speed. Quite frankly I didn't have the money to do a serious job as the other two boys did, but i am pretty happy with the results.... Started with this - $5 off TM; And ended with this after a month and a very fruitful trip to the Macleans Island swapmeet. Has had every bearing in it regreased, and it rides as slick as... sort of went for the 'it's 1945 and I will build a bike out of whatever is in my garage/army rat rod' ethos. Brake lever is the old gear lever, couldn't find a nice one so decided on some reappropriation... An old Last Footwear Company boot as the seat, threaded with copper wire courtesy of horse25 ( ) More boot leather/copper as the grips; Removed every unnecessary lug and frippery - including pedal end caps and reflectors; The colour is Nato army green. I will get the photos of the other two bikes next week.....
  7. Slamamed a bluetooth headset into it, am a corporate handsfree motherfucker now sold out to the man/look like i am having animated conversations with myself a lot + I can stream music from my phone too. win Many things still wrong that I have neglected to do anything about, some sort of banging underneath that I am ignoring, really quite squeaky front suspenders, still no hatch struts, oil leak onto exhaust etc. fuck it it is still a massive wedge of aws.
  8. Might be sorted, will see tomorrow...
  9. Need a decent rear one for a single speed project I am doing, the rear I have is buckled a bit too much for my liking. Can pick up anywhere in chch. Will take a whole bike if it is old and shitty enough.
  10. I didn't bother lowering mine at all, I just satisfied myself with driving over shit at speed and in max comfort.
  11. Yes and I want it back now I have a mate making a mid engined 2 door fiat 128 - he needs a new engine... is it for sale?
  12. Want another now/ask me about how easy it is to put in a fiat twin cam (It is very fucking easy)
  13. I have a timing light you can borrow if you want to recheck..
  14. God wants you to put a 1UZ in it.
  15. Plug leads? Cam timing? The dark forces of the internet amassing ranks of bespectacled geeks with A15 power envy and stealing your horsepowers? (unplug the phoneline and try again)
  16. yes back to metal, there is scabbu chrome and rust there mostly. Just want a decent surface to paint
  17. Can this be done? We are having a competition at work to see who can build the sexiest single speeder out of a fucked 10 speed... I have had the main frame stripped but I now have a whole lot of little bits that need to be stripped as well... is there any way to do this at home? Chur
  18. Ah it was that sultry look you cast in my direction, set my heart all a flutter... full of OS luvvies
  19. Ha I was like 'hmm tidy chevette, looks like it has some wide steels or something - must be OS...' BOOM
