  1. WeBike is the go for genuine, way better pricing than anyone on Yahoo/Amazon/Honda NZ. Just need to already have the part numbers. Need to find a nice little speedo and couple other bits, also maybe one more WeBike order for some little bits and pieces.
  2. Time for another update? Might as well be! This afternoon I started assembling some of the new genuine parts, first off the new battery cover got a black knobing Then I fitted up the air vent flap to the new cowel, with all new screws and spring etc, genuine decal was the cherry on top lol + Need to talk to @Archetype about doing some replacement/custom Gyro stickers at some point too. Among the parts that came this morning was every bolt m6 and smaller from a wrecked Gyro in Japan, I just needed 4 that hold the floor on as mine were rusted out, they were 263JPY each for new ones from Honda (they have an oddball sized shank piece so are Honda specific), I got every single bolt from a Gyro for something like 250JPY, my mate in Japan kept all the bigger ones among his stash which helped to keep the shipping weight down. Soaked them all in vinegar for a few hours and they all look like new now, mint!
  3. Parcel from Japan arrived this morning Million times better than the floor mount I was dealing with. Fucked up my list and ordered a new battery hold down piece rather than the battery seat I need. Just waiting on my levers to arrive and I think I'll be about ready to get it back together!
  4. @Vintage Grumble are you able to do small belts? You likely know, but that looks to be a Toyota Prius water pump, probably the best thing to come from a Prius lol Got carb specs in your book there?
  5. Dropped the bars, front and rear racks and headlight loop in to be powder coated satin black today, some AliExpress indicators arrived yesterday, ordered black but received chrome, quick paint will sort that and the seller gave a full refund too. Got an email earlier that some bits arrived in the country from Japan this arvo and will be here in the morning, hopefully the levers from Aliexpress don't take tooo long! Need to strip the anodizing off the front wheel/forks and attempt to give them a polish, need a new front tyre too. https://i.imgur.com/AkaOAh1.jpg
  6. Crank seals could, but I'd think it would be a bitch to start if they were that gone. Normally cheap and easy enough to change at least, even if there not the cause it sounds like there due to be refreshed anyway.
  7. Damn that's lean as fuck! Throw that pic and jet spec etc up in your thread over on 49cc man. Something's really not right! No sign of that 102mj being soldered and drilled at all?
  8. Michelin S1! Metzeler ME1 are meant to be a really good tyre too. I'm still struggling to get my head around it having such a large MJ in there lol, by all rights that should be absolutely drowning a 49cc engine!
  9. Just at a quick glance I think it's a CE50, so it's 1986 or 87 I'd say. Could be CG50 but that bent front fork style screams CE to me, CG has the same vertical Minarelli engine as the CE but with a touch more power tuned out of it. Edit: Frame number should be stamped in the frame just in front of the engine, should be visible if you have a look under it.
  10. That's sweet!! The old school Jogs like that are harder to find a lot of performance parts for, isn't a huge range of pipes and cylinders etc to choose from these days.
  11. Just be careful when/where you use it, especially if you don't have a firearms license. Believe it or not it is classed as an A category firearm as it's a pre-charged pneumatic airgun. I shit you not!
  12. Yeah that sounds like lean hang too, have you tried adjusting the low speed/idle mix screw? You no doubt already know the drill but set it to a fairly low idle, wind in the mix screw until it starts wanting to cut out, then wind it back out until you find the point where it idles highest, then fine tune in tiny increments to get the best throttle response. I'm still WTF'ing at the 102mj, I'm at something like 107 with a pipe on a ported 70cc and open filter!
  13. Seriously a 102mj?? I would have thought stock would have been in the 65-75 range. Either way that does look lean for sure. How old is the plug? And is there any brown on the smoke ring? This is from my Suzuki after a 1.5k WOT run, new plug, straght to WOT and no mid throttle. Borderline lean looking, but I'm happy with the CHT.
  14. Less than $8 scored this on Yahoo Can't even get the little battery bracket that's on it for twice that price from Honda.
  15. That's all I can see in that pic, looks like another GY6 donor?
  16. I'm more than happy just to keep it registered as a 49cc scooter, no WOF or cert to worry about, I'm more than happy to wear a helmet etc too. My cases have 49cc cast right on the side of them too... Kart wheels could be interesting for grass drifting haha!
  17. Finally got around to pulling the rear fairing etc off today, found it was date coded Feb 1983 and from what I can find they started making the Gyro X in September 1982.Also found the paint code, NH-111 "Cortina white", my new plastics are NH-138 "Shasta white" which is a lot less yellow.Fairing had one tiny crack, managed to plastic weld the inside, touch of filler before paint and it'll be mint.Removed the remains of the step mount There is meant to be a battery mount and cable guides etc there! Couple nudes My bud in Japan is sorting out a decent second hand step mount and some more new genuine parts, I took a bit more time checking the part numbers this time!! On the bright side at least I've got smooth locks and nice new genuine keys. Hopefully will find the time tomorrow to take my plastics around a couple of local painters, going to get quotes on painting the lot in a metallic vs just the rear fairing, storage bin and ignition shroud in Shasta white.
  18. Twin axle conversion /he could use the other end of the van even
  19. Green tea KitKat is... interesting... Looks a bit better
  20. Looks like it's all going to clear just fine, will have to keep my cables routed nicely but should be mint as without having to cut and extend the stem tube. Think I might get a step mount from Yahoo in the next package, don't think I can bring myself to bolt a nice new step onto this mess even if I welded in some new steel Can get new genuine for $101.50, but they seem to be under $10 for good second hand ones on Yahoo auctions so yeah will pass on new lol Other than a stroker crank and big carb I can't think of too much else I need to order to finish this thing now, need to make my mind up on what I am doing paint wise pretty quickly and get that under way! Even if I stick with white the rear section etc needs to be repainted as it's pretty grotty and faded etc. Oh and if @64vauxhall is keen to take it on the seat needs a retrim I think and once it's all together and on the road I will start on building the new engine...
  21. Ha! That's awesome. Had another small package arrive from my friend in Osaka just before Got to love genuine parts! Didn't realise when I ordered it that the (rather pricy) ignition didn't come with the mounting plate which is the main ignition part I actually need Can get a new one for about $8, so I guess that means I'm going to have to order some more parts to make shipping economical...
  22. 10,000 is generally the accepted safe zone for stock cranks, mine often sees 11,000+ though lol
