cheers mate,yea well the old motor i had in it just never quite went as well as what i thought it would and after pulling it down i now see why,on no.1 piston both rings where buggered and on the other three pistons the top rings where all stuffed plus half the bearings etc where loose as shit

cheers,yuh i was suprised at the finish first time i have used this brand its called colorpak laquer expensive for a can but obviously quite good hopefully at the end of this year i should have it resprayed in red its gonna be my daily driver so i will probably be focusing on a panel each weekend until the car is completely straight and in primer(theres only a couple of little dents to fix any way)

stripped the engine bay down and painted it came up quite good considering i was using cans also have decided to put motor back in less the lightened flywheel as i have no $$ to get it balanced that can be changed over at a later date i need the car on the road as having no transport sucks ass

ill get a couple of pics for you tomorro,the blocks are made of alluminium and i didnt make them they where on my cortinas double sway bar cant remember off hand how far back i cut them will take a measurement tomorro,um as for a change in handling ill let you know when i get the motor in and take it for a thrash haha,and also not sure on rear swaybar just found it on a burnt out escort.so all in all a pretty useless reply haha.

sump cleaned and painted up,oil pickup canged from cortina one to escort,oil dipstick changed to the rear,fuel pump fitted cheeRS

old motors now out and i pretty much have my motor all back together new cam chain new bearings new rings new waterpump new termostat housing full new gaskets new oil filter new spark plugs/leads honed block race/rally cam and followers to suit lightened flywheel gt flat head light porting got this lightened for a box of steinys just need ta get it balanced now

iv have done a few bits and pieces since the last update,it got a wof and after burning around in it for a couple of months the rings fucked out so iv started rebuilding antother 1600 with new rings/bearings,race/rally cam,mild ported gt flat head ill let pictures tell the rest(no particular order)

you used the 32/36 webber didnt you? how did you go about doing the jets on it cheeRS

sorry im really a noob on turbos whats the difference between draw through an blow through?

im after as much info/pictures etc as i can get on the turbo setup using a carb im wanting to do a 1600 crossflow escort motor like this.any help would be much appereciated cheers

cheers mate was just having a little think about it as my mate mentioned wanting to supercharge the 4age in his escort so thought i would read up a bit about it

whats involved in doing this does anything major need to be changed? is there bolt on kits you can buy? who does them? etc any help would be greatly appreciated cheers

so i started stripping the motor down tonight looks to be in not bad nick,can somebody tell me does the block need to be bored out to fit 1300 pistons or is it a straight swap?

yup i have the carb and extractors will also be looking into a full 2inch exhaust the engineer at dads work said he would lighten the flywheel for a box of beers aparently the cam in the escort at the moment is a mild one but it must be very mild because ya cant hear a cam at all so miight look into something a bit more lumpy what sort of cam should i be going for?

well the plan is just to do these few things and paint the motor up so she looks all good and that way i should have a reliable little car with a bit more power its only really to get me to school and back and any other money i have will go on the cortina

cheers two_days_late that seems a pretty good price,unfortunately im a poor student and dont really have that sort of cash so will probably just look at match porting the inlet and exhaust ports

the engine thats in the escort at the moment is spitting heaps of oil out the top of the rocker cover and is also running like a pile of snot down low but i know the cortina motor was a mint runner when i pulled it out,............around about what sort of money would i be looking at to get the head ported?
