I can probably get them to chch in May if you need. I've got a 2zz corolla on my back lawn that's being collected by the owner and taken to chch. I'm sure there'll be room for a set of tyres.
... Sounds like I need to talk to Shouty Dave about a freight run...

Pretty sure those are ex Formula Ford tyres. I reckon there should be a cache of them in Chch if Mitch ever gets the car rolling.
Side note: will you run 15s for track work @Rhyscar?

Here's the info you need from @Hyperblade's thread. J160 with TRS slicks looks like it'll be OK as long as you rev it to 9000.

4.9 will be relatively short with 13" slicks. Ruapuna's straight is long - @Hyperblade can probably chime in here with the Starlet's diff ratio, RPM and 6th gear ratio to give you a better idea.

Nice! It's about time you had a car for yourself again.
90s cars are pretty oldschool now eh?

It was built by Lin Chen supposedly who used to be one of the dudes at Speed Factor down here.
I'm pretty sure Lin is still tuning in Mt Maunganui. His business is called CDM and he's the go to guy for lots of Honda owners.

Fingers crossed it doesn't end up sounding like every Altezza in Palmy.....

About 2 weeks after I brought the car to Queenstown, I broke my shoulder riding the XR250... So for the last 8 weeks I've been staring at this in my garage without being able to touch it.
The sling came off last week. I'm still a one armed bandit for anything heavier than washing dishes, but I still wanted to feel like I was making progress. A couple of mates helped me get the car to work over Easter weekend so I could wash it and start on a few small jobs.
Much better.
One job I really want to do is update the exhaust. The old side pipe has cracked and it had a bad habit of hitting the ground over ripple strips etc. This time I'd like to go full stainless and exit out the back of the car, with two mufflers.
Going under the diff will be tricky because of my droop travel and lowered panhard rod mount, so I'm thinking of heading over the diff instead. It looks like it'll work - this is with the LR shock at close to full compression:
Rear muffler location will look something like this:
I'll run the smaller reso/muffler just before the diff and might run a V band up the front because the old flanges I've been using are pretty tired now!
Taking the exhaust out the back makes me feel old. My ear drums will love me for it though

It came up in a discussion around fitting a larger (18mm +) carb in the Fs1 engine case. The standard response seems to be to leave the cover off and leave it blowing in the breeze (as per @Truenotch's Fs50)
The suggetion to use a membrane carb was to get around that physical size restriction.
I'd prefer to have the side cover in place.
My old setup was better with a Chappy big bore kit that had the carb feeding into the cylinder like a more conventional setup.

It would've been safer than riding motorbikes down here eh?

Obviously the wagnats team are getting old and conservative! Did you all drink cups of tea and go to bed at 8:30pm?

Hi,
Ive just purchased an 1981 Honda Civic in tidy condition part from front 2 struts in pretty dire need of replacement.
Thing is, I'm having a lot of trouble sourcing new ones and was hoping I might get some recommendations for where I can look/who I can talk to? I'm not overly car savvy myself.
The rego is KJ81 if that helps
Thanks guys
I'd recommend talking to a shock specialist like Autolign or even a good staff member at BNT. Take the car in with you so they can get all the relevant info and order the right struts.

Haha, that takes me back to a time when AE86s weren't considered oldschool.

SS2000 was the class and the Pro7s fitted the category, so often raced on both grids.
Also, did you guys forget how to oldschool? I moved both of your posts across from the main project thread.
