  1. I had a car that it seemed to work fine, pulled the dash out for something else and it had some weird extra circuit attached to the back of it, as far as I could see it was a timer circuit that made it light up for a couple of seconds then go out
  2. He's a cool dude, loves going on road trips
  3. After putting new carb on it pulled the old one down completely to bits (mainly so I could figure out how it worked, have read a bunch of articles but needed to actually see the bits to understand it) that red jelly stuff is everywhere through the passageways and around the needle so thing that may have been the issue. Also the needle was no longer sitting centred so probably wasn't helping. New carb on it and seems so much better. Will swap the better bits off the old carb at some point but it works as is now so that can wait
  4. So crappy running issue came back. Thought it had picked crap up from the tank or something as tank was low. Pulled sender out and tank filter was clean and tank had no visible crap in it at all. So worked from the tank forwards. Replaced all rubber hoses. Blew out metal line. Replaced filter. Still kept happening so sourced a second hand carb off a running engine and swapped it over. Runs perfect now and running way less rich than it was as well So now everything in the fuel system has been replaced except the mechanical pump and the metal fuel line Some pics as no one likes no pic posts. Old carb New carb. Looks way shittier but runs so much better. Obviously needs a good scrub and clean. Will swap all the nicer choke linkage off the other one as well. Also needs a new gasket so have one on the way Random interior pic. Never had one where the heater controls didn't look like shit Rust at bottom of passenger door. Each time I close it rusty flakes all fall off it. Lol
  5. If its okay with being outside I have space in the driveway at mine where it can be parked, will be blocked in by at least 2 cars sometimes 3 and not visible from the road so should be plenty safe Is out in upper hutt but can probably drop you into town and pick back up at the other end depending on timing
  6. does it need to be covered or will it be okay outside for that time?
  7. ugh, well that was a fail. Don,t think it is the tank, pulled the sender out and filter is clean and looking down into the tank it is clean also. In the process of putting the sender back in I broke the fuel hose. It is some weird plastic sort of hose covered with thick rubber and I bent it a bit too far and it split, so will need to replace that before I can do anything else. have pulled the carb back off and stripped it right down again and blown everything out backwards and refitted but cannot test it now to see if its any better Did notice that there is a screw missing from the carb and that fuel has been leaking out of it so will need to replace that still
  8. Yuck, need a special tool to take the fuel sender etc out. will try make one/ use a hammer
  9. cool, have next monday off work so will pull the tank and clean everything out has a brand new filter on it and that still looks clean so hopefully I dont have to worry about that, the pump or the carb. Pulled the carb off just before and it was clean as a whistle inside so that should be all good
  10. So it seemed to only be temporary that it was running all sweet again, was driving fine all day today then tank got low (1/4 or so) and went round a corner put my foot down and it started popping and farting again. wouldn't rev at all over 2500 rpm. fiddled with a few things and still running like shit. Pulled the choke out most of the way and it then drove sweet as again. so have driven around this afternoon with the choke out and drives pretty much as it would normally without the choke when it was running good. Any ideas? maybe pump dying? but then why would the choke fix it? Is a mechanical diaphragm pump. Or maybe in tank filter picked up some crap? or crap in the lines?
  11. The wiper mod I like to do involves swapping the slow speed and fast speed positions around so first option is fast then have to go to second option for the slow speed I never use. I usually just skip it when it's raining Also has the positive effect of making the intermittent option at fast speed instead of slow It's how they should have been from the factory imo I'm too lazy to make extractors. If anything would just order a set of hurricane headers. Had a set on one of my old ones and they were decent enough
  12. Lol. Can get bolt in cross members for LS and T5. Millions of sbc and sbf as well. Would be keen but way too spendy. Wouldn't have the money to do it for years unless I won lotto. Would get a better base to do it to as well. This one is too ratty to spend big $$ on
  13. I'm really not a fan of coffin nose but would only change for single rounds so a bit more hassle than it is worth really Odometer works perfectly which is nice. Temp gauge doesn't but will remove compensator board and that will fix it most likely. Also sick of slow ass wiper speed already so will do the speed swap to make it less painful. Stoked tbh. Most electronic stuff works which is a change compared to all my other ones
  14. LS would be lols Engine stuff can wait till after it is low etc. so will be a few years at least
  15. No, no fast things I'm perfectly happy with it being slow
  16. Will be low as soon as I collect all the parts. Need a spare pair of front struts to chop up to make some coilovers. Struts will be shortened 3 inches using saab shocks. Then back will be short shocks and some chopped springs from something heavy. Am going to have a spare set and just do the dodgy swap for wofs till I get round to getting it certed Keep looking at build threads for bagged ones and would be super keen If I could afford to do it. Seems super easy
  17. So thanks to some awesome GCs off here for picking this up for me and also lending me the money temporarily so that I could get this beautiful steed into my possession Haven't taken many pics yet so most of these are from the for sale ad And some pics I have taken My Co-driver for the trip from palmy to wellington So she is a bit ratty. needs new door cards and interior panels for the boot. Also will probably need new doors as 3 out of the 4 are pretty much just rust along the bottom edge. But that can wait On the drive home it started having issues with fuel starvation at anything above 80 with load on where it would start popping and farting and lose all power and slowly coast to a stop. Was stopping every 500m or so and blowing out the fuel filter and pulled the intank filter out and gave that a clean out. Eventually managed to get it so that I could cruise at 90k but anything above would start spluttering and crapping out again. After a 30 odd km of driving at 90 it seemed to sort itself out and I could drive it perfectly at 110 with just a random odd hesitation now and then. Then I came to a hill and it started again and had to crawl up at 50k After that it was smooth sailing and I was worried about haywards hill but by then it had sorted itself out completely and I managed to cruise up the hill at 120 with no issues but still had an odd stumble when booting full throttle. Got it home and whipped the carb off to have a look. Pretty sure it isn't meant to look like this? weird red jelly like stiff through all the passageways? was the same inside the float bowl as well Gave that a clean up and got as much out as I could and now drives perfectly with no stumbles or misses. Is running a bit rich I think but is 90% better than it was So anyway... Plans are: Needs a stereo (just something basic) CB Lower (about 6 inches front and 5 rear if possible) 16 inch mondeo steels (have these just need widening) Will need new taillights and front corner lights as they are all cracked. (can get brand new for pretty cheap) Will probably swap out the coffin hood for a flathood and possibly round headlights if I can find all the bits. Then just cruise, wagnats, nats, every meet I can get to My name is Alex and this was my story
  18. Turn useless I'm pretty sure unless you dereg and rereg Just keep the black plates. 90% of personalised plates are terrible
  19. Looking awesome, we need pics guessing its limited by front crossmember. have you sorted out rear driveshaft clearance?
  20. Cheers. Those coilovers are stock tubes with sleeves welded on so should be sweet. Hmmm. Bit of a noob question but what does tac approval entail?
  21. If a cop sees you using it expect to be in handcuffs super quick, they don't like people pretending to be police
  22. you gon get in shit if a cop ever sees you use that from experience
  23. Hello Mr cletus. Have been looking at some supplies for lowering my car. Just wanting to know if they would be legit from a cert point of view. For RCA's which version of these two would be easier from a cert point of view? Separate LCA and rack end spacers OR LCA spacers that have a built in steering arm (unsure if this is allowed? They are one piece cast units) Any obvious issues with these coilovers? And lastly, this wouldnt apply unless I won lotto but how much of an issue would it be to fit these replacement arms? Front Rear
