  1. I just thought of this before, what do you do about the placement of the fuel line, because on the pinto the inlet and exhaust are on the opposite side, so how do you move the fuel line to the opposite side without it getting too close to the exhaust pipe and driveshaft n shit? And speedo cables? does the original escort one fit the sierra gearbox? Also, is any extra strenghtening going to be beneficial? I just figured that the 2.0 is quite a bit heavier than the little 1300, so I was just wondering. I think im sorted with everything major, its just little things like these that have me stuck and ill probably come across more Greeny?, RT?im sure you guys can enlighten me
  2. Well, he has a lot to learn if he doesn't know how a pushrod engine works
  3. Yea I was looking at my mounts and theyre only spot welded on, I spose you could probably just cut them out and re weld them to where they need to be. Ill probably have a go at doing that or else just bolt the gearbox through the floor with some thick plates. For the gearlever hole I think you can probably just cut the original one out, then cut out a piece of metal the same size from further down the tunnel swap the pieces round and weld them into place. Doing it this way, you still use the original gear lever hole which has the nice lip on it for attatching the gearstick covers (cant think of their proper name ) And driveshafts, I've also heard that the shaft from an auto escort will fit, but im not 100% sure, I think these are still two piece, dunno if you can get single piece ones of these or not. But why not use a two piece anyway? im gonna try and find out some more info because im going to be doing the 2L, five speed conversion very soon. If anyone else can add to this or help out some more it'd be cool.

    Ford v4 engines

The pinto's are wayy better man. Those v4 capri engines dont have a very good reputation aye
  5. umm, the braking surfaces could be glazed, you should try scuffing them up with some sandpaper or something.... also are the pads/shoes bedded in properly yet? because they never really work properly unless theyre bedded in fully. Another thing, the pads you're using may be too hard, you could try switching to a softer compound i guess.
  6. Yea id be keen as well aye. I was going to go for a 2.0 pinto coversion at some stage, but might aswell check out a few more options like this. Let us know if u find anything aye
  7. Yea man, Ive been meaning to go out there and get some of that aswell, last time I was there I got told u have to put in a container though. Its not fresh avgas either, its just been sitting round for too long to be used in the planes thats all. But the octane number is still up round 105-110 though, so its all good

    Knocking noise

if it's doing it when there's more people in it, and the noise is coming from the back of the car, then i'd say it's the exhaust hitting the diff or something, probably because of broken or weak mountings. Id check it out aye.

    car shat itself

my eski was doing pretty much the same thing the other day. You should check the points out again, it'd be a good idea to remove them and make sure they're all clean and that there is no oil on their faces, then put them back in and reset the gap. It worked for me anyway Also if they have done more than 10 000 km you should replace them, same with spark plugs.
  12. cheers guys, I probably will just re tighten it anyway, then i can stop thinking about it.
  13. I have just recently taken the head off my 1300 esky to do a bit of a port and polish, so of course I brought a new gasket set and included was one of those head gaskets that apparently do not need re tightening like normal ones do. I am a bit sceptical about this as I know that it is always a good idea to retighten gaskets after a certain amount of running-especially head gaskets! If any one has some information or recommendations on these gaskets I would very much appreciate it
