  1. all cars modified b4 certification should have a MOT[ministry of transport] declaration. to have been legal from then to now. the lvvta will be slowly phasing these out and even these cars will have to be certed. so ive been told but who knows everyone has a different take on the laws. my cortina was started by a mate in 1990 he had the rego papers changed from the 1600 to the chevy and the car has never been unregisterd. i might chase up the jp thing and see what happens ill keep u posted dave
  2. im all for certification,there were way to many dodgy modified piles of shit on the road before it. ive been in a hot rod club since the early 90s when the laws first came in .all clubs and organisations had input into the cert laws . i think we are alot safer because of them. youve got to ask yourself whats my life worth? if you drive a roughly modded car i guess its fuck all. ive consulted with a certifier right through putting the chev in my mk2 cort. most of the stuff i had to do is mostly common sence. so it will piss through certification. its all how you go about it if you do it properly youll have no hassles at all from anybody.
  3. hi dave, thanks for the info, i thought that may have been the case. still should interesting to see what it goes like . the twin cam sierra goes alot better than the old sohc. what is a set of front brakes like yours worth?. i want to upgrade the stoppers on my mk2 cort as it goes a fair bit faster with the v6 than the 1600. i was going to go to a falcon disc and caliper as i already have the falcon stud pattern. but there is quite a bit of maching required. somthing simpler would be better. cheers dave f .
  4. hey big dave awsome cars dude very well done. we have early 90s seirras here with twin cam heads and carbs are these a cosworth engine i think they have it cast on the cam cover. i ask because a mate is putting 1 in a mk1 cort. we were having a discussion wether it is an actual cossy engine or somthing ford did to sell more cars in nz

    CORT timing

    hi there, 2 litre cortys are a fairly hi comp engine. on new gas they ping like f#%@ that is why it idles and starts better with the timing advanced but runs like shit with your foot down . try easing the timing back or try some octane booster or avgas. having white stuff in the dissy cap certinly wont help either
