  1. I take your silence as a good sign of progress
  2. WARRANT STATUS ACHIEVED!
  3. Still cranking away on it but it's too dark by the time I'm finished to take a pic or its plain too boring. Glued a headlining in and trimmed off he excess that's to sit under the screen rubbers, vinyl spray touched up.. looks alright. stereo installed, kick panels in, steering wheel with horn, new swaybar link bushes (mounts were still nice, and rubber) painted everything as I went, adjusted front wheel bearings, installed larger 3-core radiator thanks to mint16, drilled holes in front panel to suit captive nuts on rad surround and hoses had enough slack to line up. Front panel was well used as has had some alloy radiator in the past and a panel-steel piece screwed in to direct airflow. old rad was pretty smoked, functioned but not for much longer. took great joy in cleaning the overspray haze off windows! The really fine steel wool worked a treat. Got my boot badge, cleaned with electric toothbrush and installed. Was scared it would snap so took my time. Brought NOS bonnet rod grommet and clip off trademe as well. Door rubber arrived today so poked that into the channel and glued and taped the rest in place..Waited about an hour each door and then shut each to let set. Warrant booked for Wednesday. And I managed to get all the cars in and out of the garage!
  4. That red beast is yours? It looks very experienced at life haha
  5. Sweet, I'll have a poke around and If it dosent improve I'll kit my spare with its bits
  6. Thanks all! Pretty stoked how it's come up now tomorrows job is to glue the roof foam good and proper then perhaps the roof lining, and get it sorted for a warrant. And clean the damn windows! carb/choke is a bit gammy so will see if I can adjust that. Accordingly has had a kit but may be something sticking. where do you work nick? I had to chuckle, it fits in between the stains the wagon left from the fuel tank and the sump
  7. Wire wheel it back or sand blast it nice and clean, ETCH prime or use a rust converter product, then prime and paint. Will hold out for a good while if the rust hasn't set in too bad. Avoid zinc paints, I've had trouble in the past with panel rust flaring up again.
  8. I took some quick shots this morning before work just in case anyone crashed into it
  9. sorry it's a shitter but the lights blew on that side of the garage and it was late. Is wet also. Gonna drive to work tomorrow. Lights came right, did hoon a fuse so easy fix. practically everything it had, has been re-attached, but plenty of tidying inside to do. liking the direction it's going in. The rubber sample will work, just has less contact area for glue but seems to sit in the grooves better. Likely have 13m of that tomorrow to slug in this weekend. Is not the same profile as the boot so have chucked the old skode one back in for now.
  10. Well. I though it was odd I hadn't seen my door rubbers and wee bump stops I ordered Last Friday so rang them, turns out they have none in stock but didn't tell me this. Are sending a sample to try and if it fits then I'll get that stuff instead. Really hoped to have it to glue on while doors were off. Tonight after work I masked, sanded and sprayed the pillars and door frames satin black. Came up decent, used the leftover paint form the pontiac..slight issue when I popped the tin open and half had gone to jelly. Thinned it a bit and strained out the chunks, got away with that one lol. Also put towbar on but made a rubber gasket between it and body so no chaff and the bumper goes over the top to hide most of it. I'll have to shorten the bumper brackets the amount of the thickness of the towbar brace as it sits bumper back moreso and the bumper side mounts don't reach
  11. Good day today, lots achieved and a cracker day for it. As you always do, I hoped it would spray out immaculate and I'd never have to touch it but it ended up a little peely and some shit stuck in it. So I'll have to cut and buff it, I really hate doing it but. both my repairs on the mounting areas for the cowl vents cracked when I screwed in, bit gay but not super phased. Very jazzed on the original front, looks so much better than the plastic grille. while I was waiting for it to flash off I replaced the diff pinion in the pontiac so double project win. tomorrow I'll crack into painting the pillars and doors satin black in and out then wham on the new rubbers I got from basis and hang the doors back on.
  12. Shit just about forgot to seam seal the gutters, that would have been awkward
  13. I had some time so I flicked the insides of doors, bootlid, fuel flap and cowl vents. Now by the time I'm ready tomorrow they will be hard enough to flip over and paint the seen side so no un-nessisary moving when wet. Super average pictures but it's just to show progress! Pretty excited to seal this cunt up and start using it! stand by lurkers
  14. Well I fixed the compressor, starter capacitor blew, easy fix. Have since finished the body and the pinholes, primed last nite. Got up today and wet rubbed it in 400, cleaned and un-masked. pulled the doors off and cleaned them up and masked ready for red. Then ran out of masking tape so called it a day. Good haul. i have Tuesday off work to spray it
  15. Picture less again sorry. Reason being other Datsun work. Got the wife's A14 back from the engine shop on Friday so out with the old, assemble the new, strip/clean/paint engine bay and poke it back in. (First pic is a year ago when the engine was in but rings chewed bore, but shows state engine bay) Its her daily so imperitive it happened quickly! Now she can chip away and paint other bits as time allows. today I picked up the paint for the 1200 and a boot trim/chrome. Haven't worked on it since Thursday, just tidying up the divers swage line then I'll prime, sand, prime, wet rub and blast. I think perhaps a fortnight? I also cooked my compressor so that's a set back but some $$$ from Ponty sale coming in soon.
  16. Today didn't really fire like I'd hoped, spent ages with the Knick putty and sanding wee spots, re-did the bottom of drivers front guard and primed it all, carbonded the gutters and the boot and bonnet webs-to-skins (great product), bogged and sanded the upper inner of doors, finished the nose of the bonnet and some repairs on the scuttle vents. Moving forward is still acceptable no matter how fast
  17. The roof is also pretty fair, have given it a couple of filler primes and blocked back, and spot bogged pinholes. From what it was its night and day but don't try stick a magnet to the middle. I'll have to revisit some spots now I can see it in one colour, especially the stupid swage down the middle, pull all the doors off and sand inside, fix the series of elbow looking dents in the inner of drivers door.
  18. Today I finished the main bogging and sealed her up. Photos on this side are a bit ham cause it's a lot darker.
  19. And mounts
  20. I had been quietly looking out for one. Got new bushes the other day
  21. Funny you all mention that, as I was finishing the passengers sill tonight and putting a sheet over the rear wheel I though wooo this one has heaps of room! The drivers outer clears but the inner I admit I hadn't checked. As Bart said, there were scuff marks on the inner. i seem to recall Escorts do the same, perhaps it's the joys of leaf springs or the lowering blockage of, which chooches them? i have a couple of leads on the chrome boot garnish, which I though would be the hardest to find of all the deluxe badges n attachments.
  22. No that's a bit harsh, I think it will be a sweet wee car just a tad over it. Look forward to throwing it back together and watching tv after work instead, fiddling in the weekends
  23. Driven by need not desire!
  24. After what seems like a week Ive finally got the roof to a satisfactory shape. Took a fair swag of bog, but sanded a lot off too. Needs a few more primes to save headaches when I come to fine sand it but wanted to seal it tonight. Also happy with the drivers guard and bonnet, the passengers side is a lot better so taking bugger all. they are so flimsy I had to lather the backs of guards with under seal so they would not move around while sanding. Even threw on a shit old indicator because the front got weak without it screwed on. Sigh. now I have to finish the passengers still, hook into the rear arch (which looks better/more proud than the drivers started out) and the rear corner, tail light area. Happened upon a mystery tin of brand new 2k red paint and hardner, reducer. waited a week to see what shade it is and I reckon it's a goer, price was decent. The aforementioned front valence looks great in place with primer on, will just rock it as it. So it's just the fuel flap and valence that are bog free on this unit, boot lid came close but took a few hits. also have a lead on the chrome boot garnish which I thought would be impossible to find
  25. You can do it!
