As mentioned previously - the solex bikes can be registered - i havent bothered with this one but may do it at some point.
I have ridden past police many times and typically get looks of awe from them rather than a look of them going to pull me over. TBH i could just hit the de-compressor and kill the motor whilst cycling on and they probably cant do much about it. 1960's E-bike that does 200km/litre

Eyechrometer calibration complete...
It may be a mirror image but I'd say filling and drilling a few holes is easier than cutting and reversing a whole sump

It could be a wild goose chase but looking at a 4Y oil pan - its almost identical to a 2T/3T toyota oil pan but backwards.
It may be worth buying a 2T/3T sump gasket and trying it on the 4Y

I used these guys years ago - not sure if they still rebuild them now. They may know who does it. -
2.5's are nice cars to drive. My parents have a NZ new one and only 2 things they were warned about :
1. keep a regular check on the oil level - some tend to burn a little oil all the time so levels can drop to critical between services
2. keep the fuel tank topped up at least above a 1/4 tank - the fuel level sender electrics prematurely wear when fuel is low and plays havoc with the sensors for fuel.- 2

For cleaning with phosphoric acid its easiest to do small sections at a time, as mentioned here
The stuff from Resene had the highest phosphoric acid content that I could find otherwise Bunnings etc in the paint section as mentioned.
This stuff also has a high concentration and works wonders on rust.

With the welder out for SLEEEK's floor repair, i figured also fixing the other quarter window on the racer was probably long overdue.
Some BS repairs from the past that were 90% bog.
Repair the inner bit and the reinforcement.
Fill other rust holes.
Measure and make the outer bits.
Glue it up.
and 200% betterer...

So... a change in the place i took this for a WOF meant it had a bit more of a thorough inspection.
It didn't fail but he mentioned that some rust in the passengers floor would need attention soon. So some investigation happened.
Turned out that hiding under the sound deadening was a little more serious than anticipated. Likely a leaking windscreen caused this.
Out with the cutting disc and I had at it!
And then glued it all back together
Grind, Sand, and Prime - phone was left in the house so no pics except after
And finally a renewal of paint and anti-chip coating. A nice tidy up for it.

Looking awesome. Mate had one and got it going ok, but cos he was a 130kg unit he still had to pedal with the motor going, so arrived a sweaty mess everywhere...
The French race them and you can get a big bore cylinder/piston and hi comp head - good for a lot more torque and top speed. The pedal gear ratio is a bit crap and takes a lot of work to pedal without the engine so i fully understand the sweaty mess situation. With the engine running it is fantastic for 30+Km/hr and still being able to pedal (albeit rapidly)

Tried my hand at painting some pin striping - not a bad 1st effort.
I replicated all the factory stripes it originally had

New Lynn yesterday. Super tidy, bonus points for the cage being colour matched and black plates
@Ash Kelly barr This was built by a very good friend of mine - it has a 1950cc race motor and close ratio box - he recently moved to Aussie and sold it here as the cage and other equipment doesn't meet the Aussie classic car racing regulations
Good to see it out and about

Two post hoist in home garage (questions).

@8ball have a yarn to your local hoist repair and servicing companies. A friend does it and they are regularly ripping out near end of life hoists from workshops and replacing them. I'm sure something would come up if a box o brews is involved.
Edit: they should also know the history of the hoists so knackered ones can be avoided.
