Can you give it to me for free. This is cool !
  2. I forgot about that test. I remember you doing this in that smelly old landcrab morris vtec turbo. Hey clint have you ever certed a quad bike ? I rang vtnz about getting one put through and they got all confused.
  3. You can put any engine in any car and leave the brakes standard as long as you haven't increased the overall weight of the vehicle and rolling diameter of the wheel. You could have 2000hp in an morris minor running 4 wheel drums and providing the brakes work as they were intended it wont be a cert issue. Pretty kool eh.
  4. You often see big fat after market alloy radiators blasted all over trade me but are they any good ? Does a thicker core mean more/better cooling because more water can flow through it and in turn cool more water? Does a thicker core mean worse/less cooling because more water can flow through it and in turn not get the chance to cool? Will a thinner radiator cool more efficiently because the air flow through it more easily? Will a thinner radiator cool less efficiently because there is less surface area for it to cool the water? If radiators cool better when there thicker why don't car manufacturers make them thicker in the first place or is it a look at me i got a 6" thick radiator for increased drift. Opinions please.
  5. Theres not to many of these conversions out there, that i know of anyway.
  6. Bro keep on topic. This thread is about my wagon ill never finish. Stay tuned ill try post up some more pics of some mags i want to put on it or a head deck ill put in it then later on sell. But in all honesty i do need to make some progress on it as its stick on my hoist.
  7. Only update is that my workshop is so disgustingly messy im scared to go in it encase i get trapped and die from starvation.
  8. I purchased mine with 58000 ks on the clock. There was 3 of them side by side to choose from. I choose mine because it had a 2.8 liter where as the other 2 has 1gge's Ive also owned a turbo one. Not sure what the engine was but it was a sohc. There awsum cars. Would like own one again one day.
  9. Very jealous. I had one of these as my first car when i left school. Mine had the wrap around front indicators. I dont see many of them around anymore.
  10. here goes .... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=750372489&permanent=0 Will see how i get on.
  11. I could just go out and purchase a series 4/5 (FC) box but there pushing 20 to 25 years old now and guaranteed to be well thrashed. Lots of FD boxes round and still be purchased as fresh imports with low K's. Ideally i want a shifter position 740mm from where the bell housing bolts up. Whats the difference between an FC or FD bellhousing ? Is it the starter position ? Do the FD's run a pull type clutch ? Whats a fair price to pay for an FD box ?
  12. Can anyone else shed any light on this. Pictures are always awsum. Also whats a stronger box, a series 4 or 5 or batman style box. Need something to bolt up to my 20b but dont want the shifter comming up under my armpit
  13. Must of been a conversion i did. Back in 1994 i put a 12A turbo into a 1602 BMW it was a red one. Later we changed it to a 4 barrel and lost the turbo due to never getting it to run right. After it was sold it changed many hands. I saw it again a few years later, had an automatic fitted to it and was being driven by a disabled guy who had it set up with hand controls. Apparently he loved the car and rotaries. So it was perfect. Just had to change it to an auto though. I haven't seen it for nearly 20 years now.
  14. Definatly need to run full spools. Otherwise your exactly right. Ive lay away in bed many nights trying to nut this thing out.
  15. Probably not but i do know its gonna sound mint.
  16. It was a mint van. But im not going to wreck it, just make it do big skids. I purchased it over a year ago, flood damaged insurance write off.
  17. Sorry yeah you can discuss in this topic/thread I ended up buying 4 engines, good to have a couple spare not that they blow up easy. I do have 2 identical engines that came from a couple of Crestas i wrecked.
  18. Finally decided i need to start a thread on this. 1998 Toyota Hiace LWB with dual sliding doors. Plans are to build it into a dedicated skid car for doing burnouts and power skids. 2x Toyota 1JZ engines running through manualised auto transmissions. 2x ford 9" diffs 2.75 ratio joined together Thats the basics of it. Have dragged it out of the corner and about to start working on it. Previous discussion thread prior to starting this build //oldschool.co.nz/index.php?/topic/33776-twin-engined-burnout-car/ Feel free to make a new discussion thread.
  19. Cut the old ute tray mounting brackets off today along with the 4x rear mounting brackets off the donor 4x4 chassis. No other progress today. Next step is to fit the ute chassis under the Terrano body and line up the new mounts ready to weld. Will do this later on in the week.
  20. Dropped the front subframes out today and loaded the shells onto my truck. Off to scrap heaven tomorrow.
  21. This thread is so old that once the cars finished im going to re do it. It jumps all over the place with pics missing etc... Anyway heres a new pic to show updates. Things are progressing well. Found out yesterday that the 9" diff hits on the fuel tank, need to modify that to clear, will fit an intank surge tank in there at the same time. Front discs are on along with front callipers brackets however i need to get the wheel offset changed as per previous post in order to fit the mag on. Rear tubbing nearly completed. Picked up a 4 spider 3.25 ration head last week. Should give me a nice motorway cruising speed if my sums are correct. Head is so massive it only hits on everything so a bit of cutting under the rear seat is required. When its sitting on its ass the drive shaft hits the floor so the driveshaft tunnel will need to be raised along its entirety approx 5cm.
  22. Removed the 4x4 chassis last week and started playing around with wheel sizes. Also started stripping the donor chassis from a SWB Navara
  23. Let me know if you need any bits. There going to get stripped in the next couple of weeks and shells off to scrap. The shells are way rusted and they have had alot of parts allready taken but still a few bits of good stuff. One has a motor and box, the other just a box.
  24. I bought some friends for my max. Was fun loading them on the truck !
