  1. also, what's the rules on rod ends? I heard they have to be a certain type. The website says they are Teflon lined 3-piece type......good/bad?
  2. they are Techno Toy Tuning https://technotoytuning.com/nissan/510/front-lower-control-arms-datsun-510
  3. Yep, it has 2x M10 bolts/nuts though the ball joint/castor rod/lower arm, and 2x M8 bolts holding ball joint to lower arm. So "shouldn't" have any issues with cert by doing this? will get re-powdercoated so they shouldn't even know they were modified.
  4. Hey guys. Got a question on modification of the front lower arms. The bit at the end fowls on the disc, and I reckon I can just chop this ring section off after the last ball joint bolts as it's not really doing anything? Thoughts? I could just grind it back for clearance but would prefer to just chop it all if possible (apparently some other Datsun arms dont have this ring).

    Diff Ratios

there is no "ideal ratio"...or every manufactorer would use it. It depends on the weight of the car...the type of motor ( where it develops good power ). Also you will find that different car manufactuers will have differnt ratio g/box's...which affects the diff ratio.... also the ideal ratio will depend on the style of how you drive... ie...want to get from a-b real fast...but don't often drive out on the highway, then a real low geared diff is for you ( has a higher number ie 4.6, but is called "low geared" ). But if you do lots more open road driving than round town, and don't mind speeding and using less gas....then a High geared diff is for you ( has a lower number ie 3.5, but is called "high geared" ). I had a 4.6 in my datto last year, and doing 110kph it would be revving at about 4100rpm ( in a 0.85ratio 5th gear )...( use lots of gas ). but around town, it accelerated real fast...I loved it.
  24. you really need to get new shocks matched ( the valving ) to the new spring rate to get the ride to feel right. also if you don't shorten your struts as well ( if you lower it too much ), then the shocks will bottom out
  25. if the ECU has a EPROM....then you should just be able to get it reprogrammed and tuned and you'll be sweet
