  1. but also the way of the orwellian future

The safety cameras are able to calculate the average speed a vehicle travels across a length of road between two cameras.

Research shows that the cameras, which are commonly used internationally, are more effective than single-location cameras and can reduce the number of people killed or injured on roads by more than 50 percent.

  2. hey all, got a new MT07HO to replace the old MT07LA and fitted a new full exhaust over the break.

Now, the new system is plenty loud and plenty of crackles and pops on decel, which is nice but probably bad. Hope someone can lend a bit of advice here.

Do I need to tune the bike? Note Its only done <200km so I haven't checked the plugs yet for colour but assume its running lean. Also does a tune need to be only after the 1K service?

Is flashing the ECU likely to void the manufacturer warranty?

I've been put onto the Booster Plug form Denmark, but they stopped making them for post-2020 bikes because this. This leaves me with an expensive Power Commander option.

    any good advice appreciated :)

I recently brought the weldskill 205 acdc and really like it, TGA abrasives https://tgaabrasives.co.nz/shop/welding-plasma/welding-equipment-welding-plasma/tig-machines-welding-equipment-welding-plasma/cigweld-weldskill-205-ac-dc-tig-welder/ were a bit cheaper than  blackwoods too, the 8m tig torch is handy for some jobs but a bit of a pain for others so iv got a 4mt flex head wp17 setup for it now as well. really rate the ease of use, great upgrade over my old china acdc tig

nice one, cheers for that. Always good to hear from someone who has used it. The weldskill videos on youtube tend to be suspiciously sponsored-like.
altho the interface on all of the entry ad/dc machines is more or less exactly the same. That's there the Lincoln sticks out

  4. Hello, Im sure there is an answer somewhere in this thread, however, I'm a little time poor and a lotta patience poor, hoping someone can help

Im after a single phase AC/DC welder and have watched a ton of review videos and spec sheets, hoping someone has personal experience with either of below and can recommend one.

I've also coughed up $$$ for a new circuit to my shed with both 10A and 15A so any single ph plug is all good:

Not fussed on a pedal, not keen on pulse only tho, mainly after ali and alloy jobbies nothing too thick, thanks!

I daily a WR250X, its lush, would trade again, heaps of fun. I have made a bunch of mods, but have pretty much decided against performance mods, it does what I want and I enjoy low maintenance life. With the gearing it has, it maxes out at around 130kph which is fine for me. Bars are a bit wide, but really not an issue. I believe my bike is equivalent to a DRZ SM, but I have injection and 6spd, OG tank size is a bit small though, but I found a IMS 3gal

Also, if performance was an issue with a DRZ, an E is the highest power, ~40hp, vs ~33 for SM I think. So an E motarded is the best performing DRZ400

yeah fair but an E isnt a motard, its a enduro of sorts.

Youtube was quite insightfull on how to raise ponies with a sander and a drill. Essentially open up the airbox, rejet and you're good to go. From there it goes into changing to E cams, buying a $180 aliexpress carby and other random mods

  6. thats a fairly superb review there, thank you.

taller gearing is also what I would be looking at, with potentially a lower geared sprocket stuck on a spare nobbly wheel set.

In no rush and was looking at new, strangely Suzi dealers up here don't have anything but E and S spec, I've only seen them in Wellington. That being said my will is weak and I could be tempted if you are looking at selling

When I was considering them, what put me off for commuting from lower hutt to CBD was wide bars and the perinium punisher.

    Harley was best commuter.

Harley = too much $$ for not much of anything just personally. Well I guess you get the noise, ok :D

A dude next door to us at work dailies a DRZ400. It's good enough for his commute of open and city roads.

Does 100KPH so I mean, it's got enough power in that respect. You'll be sitting a lot higher and more in the wind. But yeah, I wouldn't bother modifying for more power but thats just me.

don't mind sitting higher, but that banana seat has to be addressed

The front guard is a bit of a sail, that'd be my biggest issue with a 100km/h straightish commute.

Enough power to lift the front wheel in 2nd without the clutch. But it's never going to keep up with an MT07.

What does the MT07 not do well?

good tip mate, yeah 2 out of my 3 narrow choices are basically either getting a 2021 MT07 (jeez those lights tho) or getting the DRZ.
Nothing that MT07 doesnt do well, I just owned it since new 5 years ago and put a shitload of Ks on it, and its still LA spec.

  10. Keen to hear from some first hand experience, pretty keen to snag up a DRZ-400SM but have a couple of concerns:

    • How much do these get thrown around in the wind? Will be doing a 40km stretch each way with lots of exposed motorway between rural and CBD
    • Do they have enough power, considering you can 1) modify pretty easily and 2) because light and 3) Im currently on a MT07

    cheers

  11. cheers to you all lads, I will clean up the thread an try the 1/2UNF again.

To my eye, both M12 and 1/2 were just a shade not big enough on the ID to fit over the thread, whereas 14 and 9/16 slid over the top.

@kyteler I'd love to try a M13 but no one stocks them (as in steelmasters, AES, blacks etc.)

worse comes to worse the grinder will come out, replace stud with a bolt + sleeve and done, just wary of welding anything suspension wise (altho original has welds in it)
