  1. yea are things going to get heavy with a cable clutch or is it much the same feel as a hydraulic ive driven heavy pplate clutches with hydraulic before but never cable blueex cheers that sounds good might try something like that good to know it works rather than guessing etc where abouts did you buy your clutch plate and presure plate from? and is ur clutch plate only 115mm diameter than sounds reall small?
  2. ok cool, thought i read sumwhere you did, my bad hows your clutch perform?any slip? would rather blow boxes now and then than have a slipping clutch ok so all the l200, and rwd sigma and fwd sigma gsr clutches will be the same so i could put any of those clutches on any of those flywheels? so whats the difference in the flywheels?bolt pattern?width? ring gear?
  3. ok edited the title im trying to work out what flywheel, clutch combo to use with my vr4 so i can go buy the stuff for it im after a good clutch setup as i want to poush some decent horsepower through it, dotn want to put it all in and find its slipping badly so whats my best option for a flywheel that will bolt onto the 6bolt vr4 engine and work with a l200/sigma box? i see macarbe is using a l300 one, which he had to slot the starter motor for etc which id rather not go to the effort of doing, and blueex is using a fwd sigma one if i used a fwd sigma flywheel would i then be able to use a fwd sigma clutch setup?i assum being the turbo version theres a few good clutch opitions for it?or does the clutch setup have to match the gearbox?so in that case i need a l200/sigma rwd sigma setup and a flywheel to suit this i assume a l200/sigma rwd flywheel wont fit as otherwise this would be the easiest option?

    steering noise

cheers for the replies guys powersteering model its definately not coming from the wheels its some part of the steering system making the noise, and im pretty sure its coming from the steering rack where its mounted on the bottom of firewall, if u turn the wheels till it makes the sound then rock the steeering wheel back and forward on that point it will keep making the noise so i assume its a certain point on the rack and pinion a bearing or bush or something? im not familar with the inner workings of them, only had a quick look under there so havent had a good guess at how i would take it out etc makes the noise even when the car is jacked up so has nothing to do with weight being on the wheels, wheels rotating etc just to do with turning the steering wheel so do i just take it out and buy a secondhand one or do i get it reconditioned or bushes replaced etc?

    steering noise

ok guys gotta problem with the g/fs mazda astina just a shitty 1600cc fwd its suddenly developed a very bad steering noise, almost like a clunk nosie happens as you rotate the wheel, not constantly there only at some points, happens when stationary and when moving, its not c.vs i no what they sound like etc and definately not them i think iv managed to isolate it to the steering rack(that sound right?), can feel it sometimes through the floor/firewall and is at the point where the rack sits on the firewall as well now is it likely to be completely stuffed, need new bushes or what? am i better off just taking it straight to a suspension shop? cheers guys

    white walls

theres a place in rotorua that does them and a place in chch, they basically paint them on otherwise you can buy ones which clip into the bead of your tyre called flappers
  8. thanks for the replies guys sweet will grab either box i can find then, good to know the ratios in the l200 are the same as that of the sigma one as that box is obviously the better choice as the shifter will go in the exact same position but would definately have sacrificed shifter position for decent ratios so with the drive shaft i am able to use my 4 speed one?even if that doesnt work a 5speed one? is good to know as i may just use my lancer diff for a while before getting a hilux, see how long she takes the punishment
  9. cheers mate also anybody is there any way to tell the difference between a 1600 or 1200cc ex lancer engine crosmmember? have a guy who has got one but not sure which model its out of visually looks the same but i dont have my one out yet to compare any measurements i can take on it or anything? cheers guys
  10. was guna put this in the mitsi tech thing but since it got moved no one seems to look there what are the differences in the l200 and sigma gboxes? same strength? same mounting points?both fit any 5 speed mitsi gbox xmember, sigma l200, ex, etc i know the l200 box has the shifter in exactly the rightplace for ex lancer with vr4 motor and the sigma you have to make the hole and inch or so bigger as it sits further back so im assuming the sigma gbox is slightly longer than than l200 one, meaing you couldnt mix and match them after you get a driveshaft made to suit either? i assume you can use the same clutch/flyhweel/starter setup on both?wats the best to go with?need a setup so i can have a good clutch thats got some bite to it am keen on the idea of the l200 as it will be in the right place and i dont want to be reaching further back for the gearstick, plus want to keep my factory surround thing, have been told the ratios will be shit though, anyone have any idea? also do i need satrion oil filter mount to clear the engine crossmember? read somewhere that the vr4 one which mounts the filter paralle to the body gets in the way? cheers guys
  11. and have you guys changed from vr4 oil filter mounts to starion oil filter mounts? just wondering if the vr4 clears the crossmember fine?and no other problems with it?
  12. are you running factory fuel lines? do you know what size they are? i was planning on running a new inlet line and using the original as a return bu it looks like my ex looks like it has got a return line factory aswell so if i can get away using them i will
  13. guys running vr4 motors are you running standard fuel lines? anyone no what width the standard lines are? what are you guys using as your booster pumps? looking in the engine bay my lancer appears to have a return fuel line which is handy

    catch cans

trick question? nah they do just as the name suggests catch any oil blown out the breather stops the oil going over your engine bay or on a track if your racing
  15. was guna use xmember, struts, gbox, gbox xmember and possibly diff im certainley not wasting my time with the 1200 ex diff need bigger front brakes anyways and it all seems to fit will probably go hilux if i can get one close enough width, maybe alittle wider and just run fwd offset rims on the rear no one wants to strip a sigma it seems and the only 1600cc crossmember iv found the people wanted $250 for rather buy a whole sigma
  16. when i get and engine im basically going to buy a sigma strip the whole thing and go for gold dont have a place to store a car at the moment so once ive got an engine i may hire a storage place to strip the car no point wasting money on the storage place now plus engine is the big ticklet item so wanna get it outta the way
  17. its a cyclone and a fwd engine guy selling it says its a 12v i think lowlancers is the 8v? but would it be the same power etc as a starion? do the same sort of stuff to get more power, mpi etc? id still need a decent aftermarket ecu to run it wouldmnt i? so the only place id sve money would be the inital purchase price of the motor?
  18. is this thing a cordia engine? its a cyclone 12v dash motor 2l aparrently are they carby turbo or single point injection? wat sorta power they good for? better or worse than a starion engine?gbox issues aside
  19. cher and anyone know bout the starion stuff? i assume the 4g63 crossmember is the same? the stuff im really worried about is the struts, have heard from isnowi that running lancer 1600cc crossmember with starion bottom arms and struts gives bad positive camber, if i was to use the starion crossmember would this eliminate this problem? does the starion turbo manifold clear everything in the lancer? im quite keen on getting a starion thats up for grabs but if i cant chuck heaps outve it into my lancer then its not worth getting as itl cost more than just getting a motor but if i can use the struts for the bigger brakes aswell as they fact they are coilovers, hydraulic clutch setup it might be worth the hassle of getting it to me and stripping it
  20. evo1-3 motors dont have the holes on the block for the rwd mounts do they? im having trouble finding a vr4 motor also does the front end of a starion fit in to an ex like a sigma front end? struts, crossmmember etc?can u use the starion pedal box and hydraulic cltuch setup for an ex if you were putting a starion box in it? looking at buying a complete starion and thrwoing everything in, but only if enough stuff fits and its worth it
  21. u running the 14g vr4 turbo or a 16g evo model?
  22. where are the ones on trademe?havent seen them and ive been looking hardout yea im advertising on mmc ill give msport ago
  23. hey guys trying to get a e39a vr4 engine for my ex falsgraves and blairs dont have anything, theres are all evo and rvr anywhere else in town that imports motors? or even if anyone knows anyone/where i might be able to get one? cheers
