    2l carb

its a 32/36? probably.. you need an escort weber manifold.. i think i have one spare.. is it elec, water or manual choke? just bolt it on connect the fuel block off the fuel return and it should be sweet... oh you need a weber linkage for the throttle cable too
  2. Haha it was the starter motor all three bolts had came mega loose and the top one had fallen out ... it was the end of the starter motor hitting the flywheel which was making the rough niose.
  3. Ok i had a wagon and when i had it about 1200-1500 rpm it used to make this wierd jingleing sound... its wierd.. then i sold it.. and apparently the gearbox died on it about 2 months later i think my mate was thrashing it... Anyways mine started makign that wierd jingling sound a few weeks ago, and now just as i get off the mway on the way to work it started making this real fucked up sound... like the gearbox is fucked like a rattling... anyone had this prob before? i wa slate for work so didn't have time to fuck around and listen to it properly... It seemed to drive fine though... Could it just be possible i have a stone or something in the gb housing? cos i can't get the boot that covers the clutch fork to stay on.....?

    Mini Conversion.

vtecs are actually meant to be really good engines from an engineering point of view... just that the get put in FWD hondas and sound gay when standard and have big bores stuck on them

    escort cams

Yes they are the same i think, not sur eabout the thrust plate.. just push the cam in untill the bearing line up and see which one fits.?

  10. how about getting a short shift gear lever?
  11. You sly bastard... i think i know what you are doing... and its green (not the lancer)
  12. Ok got it sorted now... except the exhaust does anyone know someone that is open today who will weld a small section of my exhaust on .. i had to cut it to bolt the extractors on... call me 0211554687 In the end i had to take the engineout again because the clutch i bought was wrong and the housing was about 7mm shorter than my old one which cause my clutch cable to seem to short therefor causing the clutch fork to sit to far forward and explaining my probs as above... so i used the old housing with the new pressure plate and it seems ok.. have'nt been for a drive yet though... Had heaps of help especially from Matt (mkcortina) thanks heaps man! Cheers J
  13. Fuck! it wa a mission getting the engine in... Can't get my clutch to work the pedal just hits the floor i think its cos the cable seems to be to long now... could the 1600 clutch housing be thinner than the old 1300 one? so the clutch fork sits to far forward? doe sthis mean i can use the 1600 clutch cable? does anyone have one? If you do and your inauck can you give me a call urgently! 0211554687
  14. Ok are 1600 clutches larger than 1300 ones? Cos i bought a 1600 cllutch kit.... Put a flywheel on and realised the pressure plate wouln't fit... the dowels for the clutch housing were to close together.... so i grabbed another flywheel i had and it seemed sweet... i think the only difference was that the clutch housing dowels wer spaced alot further out... so this must be a 1600 flywheel? and my other one was a 1300? anywyas i think its all sweet now... forgot to get some bolts to hold the clutch housing onto the flywheel though! and i fuckign hope i can find somewhere open tomorrow that sells them.... Its all basically done, just gotta get the fuel pump off the 1300... hopefully that all works out and i don't have problems with the carb and blocking off teh fuel return etc... The weather looks ok so it looks like i might get it into the car tomorrow. Or at least get started Cheers Jerm

    Cam specs

Yeah now thats way lumpier than mine... i looke at using that cam but realised it probably wouldn't go in without piston mods... moo

    Cam specs

http://www.kentcams.com Go there it has the A3 but i'm pretty sure that cam only goes into Xflows...! go to product search and type it in.. will give you all the specs. J
  17. well we chose this cam because it had quite a moderate duration but still a high valve lift.... people say the bcf2 is quite a moderate cam good for street use and that has 290 deg duration (more than mine) and but less valve lift.. i am going buy the thinking that the duration determines how lumpy and wild the cam is... correct me if i'm wrong. The power band is 2500-7000 which was also one of the reasons we chose this cam... that is lower than most. Another common cam used on xflows for road use is the Cosworth A2 A2 3000-7000 286 deg 8.86mm V/Lift But my cam has alot of lift compared to all the others... which means more gas will flow?which means it will need more fuel?.. so maybe he is right? Hmm? i trust the guy that is helping me and he said it will be sweet and i even said will i need to get it set up and stuff and he said no... maybe i will have to talk to him. Better get this right or its going to be a cunt.
  18. Nah spigot bearing... goes in the end of the crank holds the end of the g/b Input shaft as someone said above. I have got a new thrust bearing as well... I think he was talking a bit of shit... my cam is 280 deg and 400" V/Lift The weather looks as if its going to be gay as anywyas... it will just have to wait... unless soemone has a workshop i can use! I found a clutch too $130 for a full clutch kit pressure plate, housing and thrust bearing(which i already have) its just a standard replacment.... you guys think that will be ok? or should i go for a more rugged one? Cheers J
  19. Fuck i was keen to get this shit in this weekend but doesn't look like its going to happen, raced around today trying to get that spigot bearing on my lunch break... got one to pick up tomorrow (thurs) $20 but then theres another prob... i need a clutch the one i was going to put in turns out to be half worn and the dude helping me said i should really get a better one or a new standard one at least... another option is to get it re faced with a better mateerial, which would be mean but i can't see that happening before friday... so look slike it will have to wait.... anyone know anywhere that would have one in stock i can pick up tomorrow?not to far from the city(home)/north shore(work)?.... Or if anyone has a suitable clutch in good condition give me a txt urgently please 0211554687 Cheers Jeremy
  20. what exactly does it do? do really need one? shoul di just put the 1300 one in? how do i get it out of the crank?
  21. sweet... But if i had a sample why woul di need to get one!
  22. ok went to the ford ealers th ey don't have the spigot bearings anaymore.. went to a few other places and they don't ahve them either!... am i able to take it out of another engine? as i have 2 1300s. how do i go about this? also went to webers specs and he tryed to tell me my 32/36 wouldn't be able to handle my cam and i would need sideys... i am going to just go with the 32/36 have a few small probs though... the auto choke has been fucked aroung with by some munter and its munted with parts missing etc.. can i just take the whole lot off?and lock the butterflys open?... which will give me no choke for now which is ok... another prob is on i am going to do the ghetto screw in the tube approach to block off my fuel return from the carb.. and apparently that messes with the fuel pressure so i need to use the fuel pump off the 1300... and another is that the you know the elbow fitting that comes off the side of the inlet manifold whici usually faces backwards and has a tube that goes straight to the heater bubble? well it faces forward... i think so a pipe can go up to the auto choke... which i am not running... its a cunt to get off and i think it may break if i turn it too hard... i'll just have to get a long tube... Let me know what you think and PLEASE let me know if there are any probs you can think of that i might run into... Cheers j
  23. ok... so whats this kickdown mech? the backplate?... is that the piece of tin that goes between the g/b and the engine? and will i need to get the spigot off another engine? i don't exactly know what i tis... it goes in the end of the crank aye?
  24. Anyone ever done the conversion from a 1300 and put a 1600 in from an auto? Went to put the flywheel on and realised it didn't fit! just about shat my pants, thought, could it possibly have a different crank for an auto! then realised i'm a moron, and there was a spacer/ adaptor plate which was on the end of the crank but didn't come off and had to be lightly pryed off thank god. Anywyas the real question is can i use the same flywheel bolts? that came off it? cheers Jeremy

    IM LOST

How long does it cut out for? Is it only in certain gears? Could it be the diff? Like if it happens can you stop the car and keep revving it? If you can try and get someone to get out and see if the driveshaft is turning.... It could be your gearbox?... But it really does sound like a clutch problem
