Have any of you lads put different suspension from other hondas in your xr200's.
Example... After doing some research , Ive found you can (apparently) put 84-90 xr200r front shocks in a 94 xr200 to make it taller and handle better

Well I just joined the farm bike club. Brought a 94 xr200.

Hello again oldschoolers !
How do you deal with "oil canning' on a guard. Tonight on my escort I tried to heat it up and cool it down and then beat it with a dolly and hammer but it didnt seem to work that well. I think Im using a butane torch which does not centralize the heat enough and heats the whole panel instead of the percise spot im trying to shrink.
Anyways , techniques and thoughts please.

Look at the bushes at the top of the front suspension , I cant remember if they are ball joints or bushes but these were common to fail/wear and cause noises. Im talking about the bushes at the 54020b Area on the diagram.

I've got the cigweld 185 below that model.
Havnt had any problems with it but I've been welding sheet metal.
I think there is a picture earlier in this thread.

Well tonight I decided to weld the patch panel in
Not sure if I'm happy with it but will sleep on it.
Still have to finish the bottom of the patch and also make an inside flange for the wing Fitch panel to fit into. I also took to it with a dolly and a panel hammer to try and sort out the low spots.
Might give it a weld from the inside to get ultimate penetration.

I was thinking 1mm as measuring the metal that came off it was 1mm

What thickness would you guys reccomend for panel steel for an escort ?
-
Thanks @Nominal.
Was shitting myself that it would be expensive as.
-
Thanks @kws.
We have a steel and tube here in Palmerston North that sells sheet metal, im going to ring them on tuesday and see what they do and dont do.
That site looks good , Il email them aswell.

Hey could anyone give me an idea of what a full sheet of panel steel would cost now.
Im after either a half sheet or full sheet of 1mm sheet metal/panel steel ?
Thanks

Finished work early yesterday so decided to crack into making this patch for the left hand guard.
So while consuming some beers in the shed and melting , I had a go at it and I'm pretty happy with it.
I follow 'Dave's garage ' on youtube and he is one clever mother fucker. I have learnt so much from watching his mk 1 escort build.
Anyway here is the result , yet to be welded in and that's another challange.
