  1. hey guys. am after a bit of insight on the best way to go for a tow car. heres the deal, been offered a "wagon" with a 2L cortina motor bolted to a toyota box with a dellow bellhousing or something like that. but im after grunt/torque for towing. would a holden 6 be much better than the cortina 2L or would it just drink more gas? would be nice if a falcon 6 would bolt u to a cortina bellhousing ae.. or does it? whats your thoughts guys?
  2. haha no worries man.. i have my stockcar turning up next week,so i need to move this esky asap. not too fussed if i have to chop it up and sell off the parts.. but what a waste.. need $$$$ to get me either a small truck or a braked trailer.. any luck selling ya cortina?
  3. mate i thought you were just gonna take ya time with it... its already blasted, coated and bagged. wish i had work resources good shit man,get a 10a in it

the engine thats coming in this car is a 3L bored out to 3.8L with forged pistons. but ill probably use it for a bit till i get hold of a holden v6 as they seem fairly easy to do,although the mains bearings are weak as shit. id rather stick to the blue oval camp..

think the guy mentioned 3.8 but he said it was from a capri.... whats the tbird 3.8 like?

could be.....could be. been offered one with a v6 in it..must be the 3L.. has forged pistons and something a rather rods in it. done 8 meetings since it was rebuilt. would look at doing rings and bearings.. what kind of mains bearings can you get other than stock ones? probably just run it till it dies and put a EL/EA falcon 6 in it.

    capri v6

i was purely just wanting info for the motor, still not sure what size is actually in the car, i assume its a 3L.. easy to rebuild? i take it theyr a pushrod engine? its not for the escort, and definately not in capri

are they any good? do they have much torque and is it easy enough to get parts for them? engine wise that is... any info is good
  9. its got the stock sensors etc, just dont have the stock guages to run off them. thats why i got these guages.. got the sensor adaptor on to the water pump housing. oil pres fits the threaded hole in the end plate. just need to suss the oil temp one now..hopefully i can get away with using one of the adaptors as my sump bung check my project pics for the guages and panel..
  10. oh well. dont have standard gear for these..
  11. ive also used the hide it in the pipe method... just went through all my brass shit. found lots of different size fittings. so hopefully something will fit.. oil temp will probably be drilled and tapped into the oil cooler banjo bolt thing, possibly along with the oil pres..
  12. ^^^ exactly what i thought.. dang..ill scavenge through my box of brass fittings to see if i can rangi something up
  13. got guages for it nowjust gotta work out how to fit them.. cant figure out the sensors.. got volts, water temp, oil temp, oil pres.. all on a cool alloy dash piece and a switch ill use for my fan. all for like $60!!
  14. how do these sensor things mount to a radiator/thermostat housing? ive also got one for oil temp..
  15. where do you find out the rules etc on this stuff? ive been searching the lvvta website and cant find anything on fuel lines etc
  16. then ill need 2 pumps though
  17. always open for suggestions.. ive gotta try and track down the lvvta rules somewhere and then try to interpret them the best i can.
  18. i think i might just take the tank out and take it to a panel shop ae. we dont have any dedicated radiator shops here..
  19. righto....got beasty and cut off the radiator support thing and battery tray.. mounted the rx2 radiator..the oil cooler is in front of the radiator, but i dont know if itll stay there, might put it behind the radiator... just thought id share the view from my garage..thats the tip of mt cook thats lit up by the sunset.. looks sick.we just got lots of new snow too...
  20. theres actually not alot of stuff i need to do to get it going.. SUMP DRIVESHAFT EXHAUST WIRING just to get it started...so fairly close..was even thinking of putting the stock sump on with the xmember out, connect oil cooler and radiator,do the wiring, put the un-modded headers on just to see if itll run... then its onto the little things: relocate battery to the boot. finish the seat mounts. get speedo cable made. get some guages.not a must yet though. get it low. finish of the tunnel. make it look purty..
  21. filler neck is rubber, and about 50mm long.. looking into other options for it after your thoughts.. also my rx2 radiator turned up today!!! yeah! its a mint fit. will cut off the factory radiator mount thing escorts have and sit the radiator flush against the front, with the oil cooler behing the radiator. its also came with a elec fan and 2 flexi type hoses...sweet. saved on having to buy those.. designed myself a new sump today, similar shape, but added another 675ml of capacity, bumping it to 4.1L by my calcs.. will cut it out and bend it up tomorrow.. i may even just make up a template and print out the design plans etc and get a panel beater to make it..their fault if it gets warped from heat or they fuck it up i just saw a pic of the escort when i got it(still driveable) gave me a bit of inspiration to finish it to see it totally boned out..
  22. wholy crap...thats sexy as,but super expensive.. what do you think is the best way to put a return line fitting into a tank?i cant put it in the filler neck cos its rubber.. do i just drill a hole in the tank, screw it in and weld around it? by the way my tank is empty
  23. rubber..3/8s non efi.
