  1. Have started on the front brake upgrade. first task was to fit a remote booster that would’ve come standard in these. id say the original had failed and was deleted on. so I salvaged one off a parts car I had. Got that fitted up. then sent my spare hubs and new capri vented discs off to Chris at suspension tech to get machined up. just need some wedge lock washers so I’m told. got a calliper spacer kit for the type16 escort calipers. these calipers are fugly, so have got a pair of rebuilt ones on the way. then lastly will need to get new hoses made up or an adaptor. Cert is booked in next month with Cletus, so should be plenty of time to get it back together.
  2. Locked in with a guy out west quite some time ago on the original motor. Which turned out to be a grenade. has a very good reputation. although I would’ve definitely gone with Sprint RE, I’ve known Jason for ages, actually did my van conversion in his workshop 20 years ago.
  3. Don’t have any of the internals yet. Still away getting built. im sure he’ll flick me a pic of the ports
  4. Engine builder rang last night.. Any Rotor owner dreads the call from these guys.. "Hey mate, I pulled your engine down today..... And umm.................... " Gulp... waiting for the bad news that its a grenade... "It all looks good, ports are as rough as SH1, but the rest is mint".. This motor has also had its springs swapped out for rx8/fd springs, so they have more tension than a stock 12a stuff...will go well with the new unbreakable seals. So it turns out the porting is pretty average, so the plan he has for this is to turn it into a baby J port. Were going to swap the housings for the mint pair of RX2/3 housings I have on the shelf. Theyr already ported and notched. The ones that were in the motor will spin few triangles again, but have some peel.. do it once do it right ae.. I just have to drop my housings off, and flywheel so the whole rotating assembly can be balanced.. he wants me to run the lightened flywheel. Should go well.....poor fuel card
  5. Pro Street in Pukekohe is who I used
  6. better yet, chuck it in the oven to draw out any oils. But it should always be cleaned before welding regardless
  7. Sandblast, clean clean clean, pre heat then fizz it up. I have successfully had stuff like that done before, so not too much of a drama _ think I used a shop opposite possum bourne motorsport, but back in 2002 for a manifold repair. Just find someone locally who doesnt mind welding it up
  8. I reckon the October caffeine and cars day. Should be decent weather.
  9. Remembered a contact I made a while ago. A quick cellular communication initiation later and I had them dropped off to Chris at suspension tech. choice as
  10. Can brake discs legally be redrilled at all? Want to do the upgrade on the hunter while the engine is away.. Want to use Capri vented discs with the m16 calipers and a spacer kit. Capri PCD on the disc is off to fit the hunter hub.
  11. Well I just can not believe it, but I have to, I’m looking right at it. I pulled the engine out to send off for a rebuild. And found it has a brand new xtreme clutch kit and machined flywheel in it. now I’m thinking of not even putting the lightened flywheel in it. Run the standard flywheel.
  12. Should be able to book a kart session fairly easy for a group booking. Looks like the end of August could be a good time, out of winter, or end of sept if we arrange it around caffeine and gasoline.
  13. Hey guys, Would any of you be interested in a session on the Hampton downs karts? possibly followed by a cruise to Mercer- Pukekawa- Glen Murray-Huntly? Open to dates and touring route too... lets make this an open convo..
  14. Wof acquired. also noted today that it has a genuine Nardi steering wheel. But that doesn’t mean jack shit to me haha
  15. Very local. forgot they did them. Will inquire cheers
  16. I’m also keen to learn some tig . have a new machine but no idea on set up for these
  17. So it turns out I only require a lower front ball joint. I’ll take that as a win not bad for 13 years off the road. but in shit news, the oil pressure takes a dump once it’s at temp, I’m hoping it’s just the oil in it that I’m using for break in. It drops to 17psi at idle, and 35psi at 3000 now. great
  18. He’s making a list, he’s checking it twice, is this old cunt gonna be naughty or nice….
  19. Yeah I saw that. Would love to grab the gearbox, but don’t have the time to get in there. Aswell as a few other bits like brakes, rear diff and control arms etc
  20. Had a date with the hose this arvo. Have the little gem a wash. still has lime/clay/mud residue stuck to it from its last hiding. looking forward to getting this legal . I think I might chuck the 14” rally wheels on it for a looksy
  21. Tech inspection happening for authority card. Pass. one more step closer.
  22. I stepped in some rocking horse shit , slipped and landed on a unicorn. yup that’s right, I found a stock GTX gearbox that has been rebuilt. it us now on its way to me along with a left driveshaft and another baby unicorn, a working AFM. price paid, much less than I was expecting to have to pay for one. i technically have the parts to put together a complete car from a rolling body. Don’t dare me please, I can’t deal with that kind of pressure.
  23. Fitted up a few of the 14 n 1 system. oil pressure, water temp, boost hooked up. Volts is picked up via power hook up. waiting for my fuel T adaptor to arrive for the fuel pressure sensor. dropped the oil, cut the filter open. there are a few tiny specks in there, but no flakes. running around mid to high 40psi oil pressure at idle. need to get hold of a timing light to check the timing.
