Hard to tell if it's just the under seal being a bit shit or actually rotten. But there looks to be issues with the front of the sil behind the gaurd.
-
@h4nd if you keep having plug fouling issues put a hotter plug in it Its obvious to cold

A paper gasket... Was good enough for the factory.

That's it

A quick google suggest deemaxx are now cm? Am running cm brakes and hubs on a car trialer. I belive the also do a "marine" version for seals etc
-
Personally I would get a spray rust converter like brunox or dintroll rc900 Clean it best you can and scrap away loose paint and rust. Dont ger carried away trying to strip paint back. Just loose stuff Spray the seam and seal it up. Keep the spray small if you can so it's not a big messy area. I've got a small tube ,like the cavity wax cans have, pushed into a cap for doing exactly that with spray can rust converter Then chuck some cavity wax over for good measure. It's not a "fix" it's a bandaid that will hold back the rust for a wee while longer
-
Is it covering a repair? Or rust Cavity wax isnt a rust converter. Also anything is better than nothing. If you can spray some zinc paint rattle can into the cavity as much as possible. Then when that's dry cavity wax over top and you'll be fine
-
Not sure where you mean exactly. But cavity was isnt water soluble or it wouldnt work. Just let it dry properly according to manufacturer's instructions So it would probably do what you want to do
-
Clean repairs to bare steel Epoxy over bare steel Fill Prime Then color Or if your gonna do the while job in a day or two or I assume this is the marina so the rest of the car isnt exactly show car quality. Just fill over bare steel and prime over top. Auto filler is actually ment to be on bare steel The key is that it's all porous and soaks moisture up from the air if left Dont fill over anything from a rattle can. You'll have a bad time

@yetchh just need a patch welded on it or something? I'll get my bottle refilled and I can do it

Well 4mm is less than 6mm -
@kws depending how bad the high spot is . You can shrink it down with the mig. Just do a "spot" weld in one spot like you would plug weld. Then cool it with air quickly. Grind the top off. The weld will shrink when you cool it and pull the metal down. That's if it's not excessively high

We usually bead blast. But cabinet at work has glass not garnet Also if they're not sloppy af already the media cant get in Paint will just wear off on contact points. Needs lube etc anyways

Gave the bumpers a polish. 30 years of sitting hadn't done them any good Brass wool and plenty of autosol and they came up pretty good . Still pretty cracked and there is rust in places but look a damn sight better than they did when I started anyways heres some poorly taken picture Did a few errands in it. Went to the supo and the batter was flat when I went to start it. It's a pretty old battery anyways so might splash out and buy a new one for it

Didnt take fuck all pics because I was busy assembling the motor. Bit scraped the lip off the bores and honed them new 30 over rings And new standard bearings there on the upper limit of clearance but theyll be fine Went through the oil pump and used some gears and base plate from another one with less kms and less wear . Threw it all together today Had one lifter that didnt love life so stripped it down cleaned it and went back together now it's fine so meh. Intake was so heavvy I couldn't get it off when the motor was in the car. China Engine hoist ftw Have one more of the car Have cut a few laps of the block. Seems to be happy enough. Way better oil pressure than before so thats a win.

It's strange that only one has picked up. The other 7 are perfectly serviceable. But I'm nervous about reusing them now incase they give trouble I was going to give it a quick measure up. The crank as far as I'm aware is untouched on the big ends. The 001 shells are common for American v8s to take up slight wear without machining. If they're not available. I may just jam standards back in if the clearance isnt to high
