Would recommend @Bellicose any day of the week.
I know he moved up auckland/matamata way. But not sure if he's set up shop yet. I'm sure he will chime in.
Thank you both for the endorsement, it's appreciated.

Matamata (technically almost Wardville)

If that's what you want mate, i suggest hydrographics. For me to do that would be time consuming and therefore wallet emptying lol.

I never use chemical strippers.
Always just a 'strip-it' disc on a grinder. They don't heat the metal and it's alot cleaner.

All 'Tina's came in a two door variant.

He knows quite a bit of stuff and he's a good painter but there are many things he does that I shake my head at.
The finer the starting paper the less chance of rub through, so I can't see the point in the bog because you're increasing the chance of stuffing it up.
But I guess after 34 years in the game there will be a few things I don't agree with lol.

Fuck me. Who ever came up with that idea needs shooting in the face with a ball of their own shit.
I'd bet my left one any one that does that WILL rub through.
Just use a very small bit of wood with some 800 wet then 1500 wet. Could do 2000 then hand cut area with some good compound.
Be sure to rub the top of the run and slowly bring it down to level.

Had a pay with the mixing ratio and it seems better.
Can those DIN cups be bought in NZ?
Yeah, 1:1 is far too thin for lacquer mate. Been 30 years since I played with lacquer but max 30% thinner rings a bell.

Another thing to consider is hose length and id (cue obligatory old school childish sniggering).
The old rule of thumb was you lose between 4-6 psi per 3 metres (approx')
I run almost 18 metres with a regulator / moisture trap at about 9 metres. I have the regulator set at 60 psi and DA runs fine at that.
It's all about the tank size.

Free air delivery is one thing to take into account but in my opinion (which is worth two fifths of........) air storage is the thing to get right.
The bigger the tank the better.
I painted for years with a 13cfm compressor with a 50 litre tank. It would start to struggle with constant DA use.
Found a three phase set up with a 140 litre tank and 13cfm pump.
When I moved house I didn't have three phase so converted it to single phase.
So now I have a set up with 2.5 hp (standard 10 amp plug) driving a 13cfm pump into a 140 litre tank. Now the DA will run all day and the compressor runs at acceptable 'cycles'.
Moral of this overly long story is, biggest tank you can find is better.
Could've done that in a couple of sentences I guess but on my phone so cbf'd re doing it lol.

Its on a motorcycle witch was painted 30+ years ago, I just had to weld up a split in the guard.
As above mate. Feather out the repair and dust on some lacquer primer first, if it doesn't fry up you should be ok to blast it on.

I need to touch up some paint witch I think is enamel, could I give it a buff with fine sandpaper and spray it with a lacquer spray can?
What is the enamel on?
If it's on an old car it should be baked enamel.
What you do is lightly dust on a couple of coats to see if it 'reacts'.
If it doesn't you're good to go, if it does you're f**ked and it needs to be sealed first.

It's this one, http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/motorbikes/motorbikes/classic-vintage/auction-1262309789.htm
I want a project, not just another "bike" to jump on and ride, hence why I was drawn to this. Plus, they look cool and 2 smoke powerz (and fuck all power because not racer)
Surely that price for it complete and legal is too low? It won't be maculate but I would've expected it to be worth maybe $1500 done?
Maybe it's worth passing on this if that's the case?
Although that bike is / could be cool, for that money i'd walk. There are plenty of "project" bikes that pop up for less and that have been in the system.
I'd put that one at $500 and below.
Also, this makes no sense.
" have run out of time and need the space in the garage "
" it will not go lower than that, i will just keep it till I have time "
Either he has room or he doesn't lol.

Couldn't get hold of anyone good at vtnz so tried vinz.
Long story short if I can't prove its been registered in NZ before, I have little hope of registering it. He mentioned I would need a copy of the ORIGINAL 1968 purchase agreement and pre-purchase inspection. I may have some luck with a vintage club but he didn't know.
You struck the wrong Muppet because that is bullshit.
