  1. Had a mate pop over Saturday and take a look at the 48 IDA settings as the motor is clearly getting PLENTY of fuel.... turns out that this carb was off a race 12app and basically everything that could be drilled out was. The main issue was with the accelerator pumps. These should have size 50 jets however my ones were drilled out to 120.... hence the smoke etc. to cut a long story in half, I did a deal with a racing beat 51m IDA that is set up for a bridgie. We plonked it on and it fired up easy as so that’s that. I’m sure there will be more fiddling with it to come however it’s night and day different from my last one. Also re mounted the oil cooler (again) using aluminium wedges I cut the other day. This brings the cooler tighter to the radiator and more importantly further away from the road. Ive binned the AN and braided oil cooler lines in favour of new custom make Pirtek ones that should be getting fitted tomorrow.
  2. The Racing Beat 51 IDA are just the 48 IDA that’s been bored out to 51. The ventries get cut down too and grub screwed to the body. The velocity stacks are siliconed in which makes it a pain in the ballbag to fit the standard K&N filter base.

  4. I have the bloody wrong inner tie rods on my car. There is a difference 2mm at the thin part of the taper which causes a problem. Where did you get the tie rods from?
  5. Cheers Alex. You can have a fang anytime man. I’m super happy how it looks and hopefully I’ve done it justice. Gagging for another hoon
  6. Thanks pal. Wish I had more cash to get it all sussed sooner but hey. I’ve learnt loads attempting most things myself and met some great people along he way. There sure are some clued up folk out there that are willing to impart knowledge and help. I always ensure there is beer in the fridge at all times Still more ore to do - I’m happy where it is at the moment though.
  7. I need to get some heat in the exhaust to clear out all the deposits and get the car running leaner. Ut was bogging down when power on so will have a crack at that on a road in the middle of no where one of these days
  8. Yea. Needs a hell tune as it’s super rich and over fueling. Will come right
  9. Video of it running is on page 5 last entry
  10. So....something awesome happened on Saturday. After more than 6yrs of ownership, I finally got to drive the coupe. I don’t think it’s moved under its own power since 1989... It’s super super super low, therefore the fronts need winding up a tad. a tune is needed too as it is clearly running rich. The clutch and brakes worked to plan and I can feel it has a load of grunt It’s nice to see it in the shed facing the other way for once and even nicer reversing it in like that. Now to button up the leaks and squeaks then I will look to book the cert inspection in at some stage. Cheers
  11. Yea man. This week I will go and button up the suspension bolts that are all finger tight. Front seats are gagging to go in. Managed to score 3 OG RX2 RX3 steelies today off a mislabeled trademe auction. I already had 1 spare so now I have a full set of 4 tucked away.
  12. Drive shaft loop in and exhaust on today. Sht the bed those additional 2 resonators did the trick. It’s not loud and has a mean note to it. Adrenalin R products have done the trick on my ruckus bridgie.
  13. Patina mase-Rx is me if any of you are on Snapchat There are a few videos of it firing up with its new exhaust
  14. So the drive shaft loop is in with all the correct bolts etc. and.... the exhaust is all on and let me tell you, it sounds great. My wife even said that’s not too bad.... I take that as a win now or to spanner check and maybe a cheeky drive.
  15. Factory 12at thats an epic ride mate. That plush AF interior is mint. Is it a “GTX”?
  16. The drive shaft loop is all done awaiting final placement. Making it was a bit tricky due to the uneven floor pan and fuel/brake lines - nevertheless it came up really nice and it’s certainly solid as a rock Once the drive shaft loop is in place exhaust can be bolted together and put in place once and for all.
  17. Exhaust completed and painted. Gagging to hear it now but that’s going to have to wait another few days. Awaiting d shaft loop weld up then in she goes once and for all (unless I have to take it out haha). Next is spanner check the suspension and rattle up tie rods etc I want to check the pre load on the new front bearings is spot on also therefore thanks on my week to so list. drivers seat is rebuilt and the runners are all greased up ready for use. Most likely I will plonk them in less the carpet so it makes the VIN and Cert check easier, as the d shaft loop brackets/bolts are easily visible etc. Cert check is next on my agenda once it’s all buttoned up then VIN. Beer o’clock
  18. Today the exhaust is done 2 x 2” with 4 Adrenalin R resonators collecting into a 3” rear section with an Adrenalin R old school dumpy tip i just painted the lot incl the headers and all it needs is the final button up. The welder tip flogged out 1/4 way through the drive shaft loop fab - that’s getting finished this week another night. Currently it has one side tacked on and the other ready to weld/drill to the tunnel So there isn’t much point messing about getting the exhaust on for now u til that’s all buttoned up. The drivers seat is built and rearing to go in. Hope this week we can start spanner checking everything before a cheeky drive up the road. Cheers
  19. I had a look over the coupe last week and what a solid car! Got to love a USA sunrise red Mazda with a helping of patina im on the parts hunt for you guys and will do my best to track down the tricky bits “Two timer” Hahahaha
